Great timing, Sir! I just moved from my free account of Spotify, to a Duo account with my daughter. This video was very helpful. Thanks again, and Happy New Years!
Hello Sir, great and very clear tutorial, unfortunitley I ran into an issue in the step where we need to link to HA. Link account to Home Assistant? Linking your account will grant your Home Assistant instance access to your account. All credentials are stored locally. (it hangs on this page) Hope you can assist.
There could be several reasons why the Spotify setup in Home Assistant is hanging when linking the Spotify account, such as: Incorrect Redirect URI: When setting up the Spotify integration in Home Assistant, you need to create a Spotify Developer application and set the Redirect URI. Outdated Credentials: I'm going to assume this is your first time you are running through this process but if Spotify was previously integrated with your Home Assistant with outdated credentials, it might be required to remove these old Spotify account credentials and retry. Multiple Spotify Accounts: This integration supports multiple Spotify accounts at once. You don’t need to create another Spotify application in the Spotify Developer Portal. If you’re trying to add an additional Spotify account to Home Assistant, make sure to log out of the current account on the Spotify website before repeating the setup process. Home Assistant Restart: The old have you tried turning it off and on again. I know it's issue resolution 101 but it sometimes actually works.
Kind of... you can select groups that will allow music to be played on multiple speakers. Another option would be Spotcast, which I have not used but seems to be able to do what you are suggesting. Of the most obvious solution would be Music Assistant, this recently became a core add-on, so should be a rock solid solution. Sorry I can't be more specific.
This is great. Thank you! One question - I'm trying to set up an automation to play a specific song on loop on Spotify on my Google home speaker by pressing a smart button. Is this possible after I set up Spotify like you've shown in the video?
Should be possible, you can create the shared URL for the song in question then call service for Spotify to play the song via URL via an automation triggered from the button press. I did similar at Christmas that played 10 minutes of Christmas songs from Spotify on all Alexa speakers in the house when I arrived home. As you can imaging the family was super impressed 😂😏
Hello, I did something wrong and it sends me to a blank page with the words that I am not authorized... And there's no Spotify in the integrations... If I try to add the integration it still sends me to the same page... Without installing.... How do I reset?
Did you create the developer account? If you are talking about when you enter the ID and secret into the HA authorisation field and that navigates you back to Spotify, then I'd say you have a firewall or pop up blocker or similar loaded. @All, has anyone else had this issue and can help?
@@smart_home_australia Yes, I created the developer app, but I get an error on a Spotify web page the page is. account.spotify... error... invalid client
Sorry @DigitalVideoEdit i've never seen that and after a few searches I couldn't find any related issue similar. Maybe reach out to Spotify technical support?
@@smart_home_australia Hello and thanks. I managed to solve it.... after a thousand trials and errors I found the solution... you have to go to the integration tab... at the top right press on the 3 dots and then on application credentials.... just delete the 'account ... Thanks for your help
Hi @jeibar, sure can, try: spotifydemo: alias: 'Spotify Demo' sequence: - service: media_player.play_media data_template: entity_id: media_player.spotify_master_bedroom media_content_id: 'spotify:user:spotify:playlist:37i9dQZF1DX4dyzvuaRJ0n' media_content_type: 'playlist' Change Service, entity id and playlist and assign to a button and you are up and running. Enjoy.
OK thanks @PieterBloemengieter, Now I understand the issue. There are a few options, check out shorturl.ac/7cmrh, so your first course should be to try on a different browser and different PC.
Excellent Indeed!
Glad you are enjoying the content. Thanks for your support :)

Hi! Great video, question, can I play the selected music on 2 or more sources/speakers?

LEGEND !! Thats a great tip for others that might hit the same issue, thanks!!
Very useful video mate , I’d love to add some Spotify playlist and have them on my dashboard, is that even possible ?
Hi @jeibar, sure can, try:
spotifydemo:
alias: 'Spotify Demo'
sequence:
- service: media_player.play_media
data_template:
entity_id: media_player.spotify_master_bedroom
media_content_id: 'spotify:user:spotify:playlist:37i9dQZF1DX4dyzvuaRJ0n'
media_content_type: 'playlist'
Change Service, entity id and playlist and assign to a button and you are up and running. Enjoy.
Happy bew year mate!
And a happy new year to you also. Thanks for your support through the year.
i keep getting the message on the developers page that something went wrong, we were not able create your app...
somebody knows why?
Hi @PieterBloemengieter, where about in the process of adding Spotify were you when you get this message?
in the making of the app on the spotify developer website.
Did every step as you, multiple times.
