Bro black star is the reason I react to life the way I do. In my mind, “If no one is gonna sing your praises, do it yourself”, & “Apathy is the neighbor of Tranquility”.
First quote meaning: Faith in one’s self is always a priority over the validation of others.
The Second meaning: Your reactions to an event is what defines your character and builds confidence.

Direction is more important than consistency because being consistently wrong is worse than being sometimes right. I.e. Consistency is a sound mind and conscience, or self belief. Is your direction correct? The most important thing to ascertain.
      Proverbs 4:23 KJV
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

The section where you talked about your mother.. It was beautiful. I understood every word you put into it. I understand. And the very end of it... The part where you said "How do I be free?".. I genuinely started tearing up. I feel those same feelings. This is one of the best videos ive ever seen. An anime video about ambitious characters disguised as a commentary about life an true ambition, and personal experience; I've truly never seen anything like this. You did good, JS.

Johnny I cannot express to you how great this video was well made and produced and shout to all the editors peeps as well they cooked. From the way you expressed ambitious about each character, the moment you talked about reaching your goal and then feeling empty as hell afterwards, the conversation with the mom thing ALMOST COOKED ME LIKE FUCK, and at the very end message remembering at the end of the day you can replace you because there can only be one. This honestly feels like a Netflix documentary the Johnny edition if that makes sense feels like it belongs in a museum or something. Videos like these are what we need more of on UA-cam and Im glad to meet someone who is very passionate about their artfrom like me love yah gang.

During a period in my life when I overly humble and self conscious black star taught me about the need to hype yourself up.
Know what you are capable of even if others don’t see it, and be proud of it.
And if you think something is beyond you, gaslight yourself until you surpass it 😂

  • @Missing_Pride

In times like that, I often ask myself “If I never feel satisfaction despite achieving the world, do I at least feel satisfied with the actions I’ve made to improve it?”
Thinking this way has greatly helped me mentally, because I can still acknowledge the issues in both life and with myself, but I can still reflect on just what kind of progress I made that day. If I’m a cashier, I technically helped provide for customers and their families, if I’m a construction worker I helped make shelters for others to use to better their lives, if I’m a teacher I help educate the youth on how to handle themselves and can give decent life advice to get them through the tough times(hopefully). So as long as I can morally justify why I’m doing what I’m doing, then my time isn’t being wasted simply because I don’t feel any strong emotions about it. I simply made a difference on a scale I can truly never comprehend, and that’s something I can live with.

@@obarich You’re absolutely right, it just helps me not think lesser of myself or downplay my impact on others. I personally want to do something to improve the lives of others in some way, and it’s a soothing thought that regardless of how small of a difference I made, I at least attempted to do so. Even if it’s just limited to being a friendly face in a world that lacks a reason to smile for most people.

Vagabond is such a intense and profound manga that changed my life in similar ways as well. For me the cliche teaching that you ought to be kind didn't felt cliche at all. As Takwan says "You have grown kinder, Musashi. All truly strong people are kind. " And that isn't about being kind just to someone else, but to yourself as well, to your suffering, your pain. Kindness is indeed the greatest strength and the greatest weapon to wield. After all, being invincible is just a word.

Yt be blessing me with these anime reviewers. Plus shoutout for the small edits especially the little clips of Franklin cuz not many ppl giving Snowfall the respect it deserves since it's so under the radar. Lowkey, it's deserves to be on the top spot of greatest pieces of television of all time next to other shows like Breaking Bad, Peaky Blinders and The Wire.
Edit: Watched your video more than 5 times now and I gotta say, I respect the grind in your work and the overall passion for your craft of editing. I can almost see the care and limitless respect for references for other shows, movies, tv shows, non-anime show, other anime characters etc. Secondly, to point out something about Sasuke in general, because my very first anime was Naruto and for me, I grew up in an loving family but I'm more of a loner, an introvert and an outcast to my peers and ngl, the moment I saw Sasuke Uchiha and what the storyline was for him from his parents being killed by Itachi, being the only survivor to the Uchiha Massacre to knowing the full truth of what really happened. I understood him completely from Day 1. No-one from Team 7 really understood his real feelings at one point. Not even Naruto until the reality hit him when Jiraya died. Plus the fight between Danzo and Sasuke WAS needed and I was all for it. He started the whole thing and gotten Itachi to kill every single man, woman and child of the Uchiha clan all just to get the Sharingan eyes into his arm. That's downright evil and he got what he deserved from the last living member of the Uchiha clan. And lastly, my condolences for the loss of your mother and for finding inner peace through reading Vagabond. Gotta check it out myself along with the other samurai recommendations you provided for the last part of the video so thanks again. Lookong forward to more of your content.

When I clicked on this video I was expecting it to be another anime analysis I could listen to in the background and turn off my brain for but what I received is a UA-cam video so real that it made my eyes "water" more then pretty much any other youtube video. What you felt for 10K is how I felt for 100K, this idea that no matter how far I got I would never be satisfied with what I achieved. I stopped doing youtube because I loved myself and started doing it to at least try to fix myself. We're both creators so I get that external compliments may not mean as much to you as you'd probably like them too but this is a masterpiece of a video that I'd like to try to take the lesson from. Shit man.
    Damn.
I wish I had the words and comprehension to express how I'm feeling after watching this video, anyone with dreams/aspirations/ambition towards a goal can heavily relate to everything here.
You gave me something that's gonna take me so much time to process - the most prominent feeling being reminded of my pursuit and dedication towards wanting to be the greatest I can be within my niche/sphere, the struggle and fight of doing this shit but also the emptiness that I subtly know is coming despite doing everything you can think of to make it work, working yourself to the bitter end or getting mad at yourself for not just yet being good enough and wanting so bad to see just how far you can go.
😂You got me diggin deep within myself right now bro and brought out all the lingering feelings that I couldn't properly express or comprehend and I can't thank ya enough for it - I'm sure like many others, this video really touched the soul

Any conclusion ending with Vagabond is the GOAT video essay. Another dimension of Vagabond is with the farming arc, meaning can be found in responsibility and hard work. To create things for people to enjoy. To speak to people one some level whether it's finding a new game they can play or emotionally, that's my dream. At this point I can only do that through making videos on the internet even if I really want to make a video game myself. I want all the subscribers, views, and likes, but I know that wouldn't make me happy forever. That day I left my job was the day I fully believed in it, I still do. I made videos for fun, but slowly it started to feel like work. "It's the ends to means, you want to make enough money so you can make the game". I started seeing making videos as... lesser I guess. "I'll be my higher self when I can be that game dev". Trying to produce a video felt like work cuz of that... like that job I quit. I know I have ambitious dreams, but I should talk about subjects for fun first. I need to focus on doing what I see is fun in the "now" at least. I should be happy with myself now.

I cannot fathom how this level of perfection can be achieved.
The script, framing, music choice, the visuals… It just fits.
    Everything.
Feels like an interaction with another version of self. The same, but also so different.
Its saddening but at the same time comforting.
Its all about fictional characters right? So why does it hit home?
Regardless of what video its just, a call to simply wake up, there’s no other way to simply put it.
A drive so simply be the best version of oneself.
    Thats how i see it.
Sorry for mumbling about all that.
    To put it simply,
Love your work, keep it up

I can't believe this drop right now. I have never seen any of your videos but right now I'm a low point of my life. Just confused and frustrated in myself. I feel my problem is I have no ambition and I hate myself for it. I related a lot to what you said and hopefully I find my answer one day but I promise I'll never give up.

I can only imagine how difficult it was to make this video, but it was a privilege to watch this. I hope you never lose the love for making videos, because it radiates everywhere in the video.

A great deconstruction of an ambitious character for me is Netero, the chairman of the Hunter association in HxH. Where we meet the most ambition character who’s achieved everything expect his primary ambition in finding a strong opponent. While it’s implied he did but he overcame even that and continues to find the next hill to climb and it would take roughly 60 years until he eventually meets Meruem a mutant king. He can finally achieve that dream, his selfish ambition BUT by doing that he also saves humankind. And the only way to win is to show the greed and the hatred of humankind itself.
Even the parallels are superbly done, for example his Ability 100 type guanyin bodhisattva is a Buddha statue, and guanyin is a goddess of mercy. It is said he received this ability through his enlightenment. Yet he uses this statue for violence. In addition if you look at the statue itself, it’s crying every time he brings it in to form.

Thank you Johnny, the journey of content creators sometimes feels fool hearted, doing anything to reach our deepest desires, but at the end of the day only one thing matters, our purpose. What it means to us rather than what it’ll do for us. Thank you for giving me a reminder on what this journey means to me.❤️ Also how tf will you top this shi😭

I loved the intro and the parts talking about Zoro, Musashi, Black Star, and Aizen, especially, but the whole thing was really great. Also some of my favourite ambitious characters are Kamina, Nami, Kiyoharu Togawa, Akane, Hinata, Kyoko, Rock Lee, Alibaba, and many others plus the ones you mentioned 😅
