Bought my first fishing rod here in the 1989, up on the train from Tipperary. Caught my first salmon with it the next day in blackwater Fermoy. Fantastic memories thank you so much for the reminder, good luck for the future 😊

In 1974 I was that kid looking at rods and reels in the front window of ABC. Lily sold me a reel for £3.50. Great shop, great memories, great people. I'm not in Dublin often nowadays but always make a point of visiting.
I really enjoyed watching this. Great shop, great advice given, a little discount is always given, especially to the Dublin inner city kids. Don't buy online, please, keep this little gem of a shop open. The last few seconds of the video are class. Somebody Please do an indepth interview with that amazing old man. I'd love to hear more detail of his life. Remember, don't fall in😅.

@@scooterfishing9323 No problem, ABC fishing tackle o me represents a disappearing world where in the days of the Internet people have lost, are losing or in some cases never had this kind of personal contact you get at an 'old shop' like ABC, things like pubs, record shops, book shops or godd old funky 2nd hand book shops, sure a click or two of the mouse and you can get what you want but to me it will will never replace this.
When i was a kid and had no money. I was given a jim teeny fly line that didnt match my rod rating. I brought it into him and he changed it for a Shakespeare one. He didnt sell jim teeny lines. Delighted to see he is still going😊
Great to see small businesses still going but it’s not the oldest tackle shop Barton smiths, Sligo is a family run shop since the 1800s and still going, also when did we get CHUB in Ireland 😂 and theirs many regulations on our rivers lakes and sea angling 👍🏻🎣
A slip of the tongue I'd say. But there are some in the Shannon system. Via the River Inny. IFI claimed they had eradicated them. But they have since showed up again. You know how it is with invasives... Easy to put in. Not so easy to get out.
