      The problem with that theory is that she mentions bagged milk and bagged milk hasn't been a thing in the provinces west of Ontario for decades. Eastern Canada and the Maritimes are the only areas that still sell milk in bags, while western Canada has milk sold in jugs.

    • @slickserpent9484
      @slickserpent9484 2 роки тому +25

      Pretty sure she's Onatrian just because of, as AnzBoy put, bagged milk is only a thing in the eastern provinces, plus her saying that she had to learn some French in school also sounds like Ontario, as French isn't mandatory in BC, Alberta, or Saskatchewan, but is mandatory in public Ontario schools.
      And, just because of population statistics, I'm feeling Ontario.

    Now that it's been confirmed what every goddamn Canadian already nailed, it's time to guess which province she lives in.
    To my mind it's gotta be Ontario. Bagged milk is pretty much exclusive to Ontario and it's close enough to Quebec where French in school is taken pretty seriously.

    • @madmellian

      Alberta I'd guess. Bagged milk is less common, but it is still sold there. The biggest giveaway is that she uses the West Coast timezone instead of EST. Her accent, the temperatures she talked about, and a few other things also point to Alberta.

  • @corrinflakes9659

    Since many Canadians can have American-sounding accents, a way to discern them is in vocabulary.
    First is how they say “Z” casually, but you have to rule out discussions on “Dragon Ball Z” and “Consul Z” from Xenoblade, as “Zee” and “Zed” there is for respective use given they respectively have a mostly-American and British dub. (American Xenoblade YTer Luxin does use “Zed”) Issue is, in a Discord call with friends, dropping the Z isn’t guarenteed to happen, accounting for reading something with a Z.
    But what is more frequent is asking to go to the “washroom”, since to Canadians, a “bathroom” makes no sense in public places, and “restroom” doesn’t guarentee a “rest”either, but they are almost guarenteed to have a sink to “wash” from. So if somebody says “I need to go to the washroom” or “hold up, gonna use the washroom”. !Canadian alert!
    There are claimed cases like “sofa” and “couch”, but in Canada, “couch” is the casual/common vibe word, “sofa” is fancy/classy word. Yeah, there might be a dictionary difference, but nobody bothers to remember the real difference.

    • @VPCh.
      @VPCh.  5 місяців тому

      I'm Canadian and I use bathroom/restroom/washroom interchangeably.
      Canada is a big place and there are a lot of different regional dialects. They have their individual signs but it's hard to generalize too much across the country.
