Duolingo does something similar by mixing in a high rate of weird stuff. I think everyone who did some Japanese duolingo will remember the hat-selling dog （私の犬は帽子を売ります）

"Olde English" and all that -- spellings were extra-weird back then! ;) Not the handiest correction to make, as ironically, if you spell it correctly, there will likely be people telling you you got it wrong. But! If you ever want to impress a pedant, now you know. Heheh.
