- swapped out the 80s to test the decaps and did a complete overhaul of the tune really happy with it so far everything is working out, i should have done this a year ago!

very cool little build this one. i just read a vcm article about having throttle body calibrated rite for shift points a common mistake they come across tunning apparently.
its just becuse i did 4.56 gears and alot of mods to the truck like cam, turbo, etc, and i just want to set it up exactly how i want it to drive, and its just a little high on the mph tables so i bumped them
ah i see yes those are very low gears it would make a great tradesmans truck work all week play on weekends.
If that is a 6L80, the hanging 2-3 shift is an issue inherent to those transmissions.

That trans is not long for this world. I don't know why gm even put 4l60s on the ls series. They barely lived behind a l31. Matt should go ahead and throw a 4l80 in it so he doesn't have to baby it.

I have a degree from GM in 4l60 fuckery that required 3 4l60 removals from stock power cars and trucks. That's my personal vehicles. Back in 05-06 you could go to the track and watch fbodys run. I'd go through the pits and look and see who was running spray and the stock 4l60. Almost one a week would lunch. Cars that would trap about 120 killed em. Quite a few under 50k miles.
Friend of mine went through 3 in one truck. Stock power no towing. The last time he threw a junkyard 60 in it and sold the truck.

so why did you switch from 80's to uncapped? i am building a rat rod with a 6.0 twin 62's bought deka 80's for it. just curious if I wasted my money? lol
He's just testing them, trying something different. I have the 80s in my truck and haven't had any issues with them, you'll like them.
so when I 5.3 swap my Miata I'm going to decap the injectors for a little bit of a power adder. how to I tune for that? my buddy bought HP tuners for his shop and said he would tune the ECU for me if I figure out what all it needs.
you do whatever you would normally do for larger injectors, raise the injector size table, or cut it out of the maf or something else, whatever works for you or whatever you're comfortable with

Quick question i have a 5.3 full bolt on if i decapp my injectors will they help?
2k SueloSierra you aint making enough on fbo for more gas the amount of gas your injectors throw are good atm , also Cai isnt neccessary without Fi
New follower for the past 3 days, and am currently building a cammed 5.3, with LS1 intake.
My cam is basically the ASA cam: (.525/.528; 226/236 @ .050 duration; on a 110 lsa). Also, have new hypereutectic pistons, and complete rebuild kit. Will do some port work to heads. Will open up rings a little for N2O.
Which injectors are better? The 02 truck's, or the 02 Z28 Camaro LS1's?
2nd, do I need uncapped injectors? I will also be spray 150 to 250 shot of nitrous through it.
Also, this is what I'm confused on, and hope I can explain it well enough. If I uncap the injectors so the flow is there, will the computer adjust the pulsing to accomidate the extra fuel? Or will it run rich? Is this something i have to tune for? Is it mandatory? If the computer does trim up the fuel, how does it do it: by shortening the pulse (width), or some other way? Also, I will be running an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, so can I adjust fuel flow by lowering or increasing pressure? I.e. 48 psi versus 55 psi?
I liken these exteriments to putting a big 850 cfm carb on a 305. I know there are many differences, but these are some of the questions I have before proceeding to de-cap.
I am curious on your take, understanding. Help me learn, please.

yep 4.56 i just had to bump the mph down on the shift tables i set it up to get into 3rd really quick and i like it now

ever since i threw in the 4.56 gears it throws them at like 50mph cant get them to go away yet
Mine has been on in my 2010 Silverado. Put it on my lift, noticed somebody had pinched off my rear passenger side brake line before the metal line transisions to rubber flex line. Right at the wheel.
It also caused Stabili-Trac code, traction control code, brake light, etc. Stupid to do that.
Do not ever expect previous owners to do a job right.

how is the idle quality and ability to command a stoich Afr at idle? I'd love to take out my deatchwerks injectors and roll with some decapped

yeah i love it, ac and all the amenities, i even put an air filter on it, it goes into the stock catback, its really nice, i wanted something nice for my wife to drive
Did the decaps work better than the 80s, or was the improvement just due to your efforts getting the tune dialed in a little better?
