  • Do you want a home that looks luxurious? Yes.
Do you want a home that looks luxurious without breaking the bank? Hell yes.
In today's video, we are chatting about 9 affordable ways to make your home look expensive using IKEA. I am teaching you not only how to elevate IKEA products, but how to elevate ANY cheap or affordable piece of furniture that doesn't look all that sophisticated in its current state. This video isn't about buying specific IKEA products and highlighting what already looks luxurious from that store. Instead, the video is about using IKEAs run of the mill products to completely transform your space into something luxurious and elegant without having to take out a second mortgage to do so.
Do you use any IKEA hacks to transform your space? Let me know what hacks you use down in the comments!

The table cloth idea is great. I'm always trying too think of things on their most basic form. A tablecloth is a giant piece and nice fabric. You can utilize a giant piece of nice fabric anywhere. I'm trying to not compartmentalize things into specific categories so i have more options.

I've used the Tablecloth/Drapery hack in my last 2 houses 😂 . I add large solid panels of fabric - usually from a solid Table cloth in a coordinating color to the bottom or top w/ 'Stitch Witchery'.

As I have some Billys I am thinking of adopting your idea to add moulding! By the way I found your Video easy to listen to because of your energetic and friendly presentation which contrasted perfectly with the points you made in writing accompanied by relaxing music. I also liked your outfit today very much: the black top and glasses. It went so well with your gold tone hairstyle! Gorgeous!

i did this for my mom years ago. you can get a more traditional look if you put several billy bookcases together, put crown moulding along the top and then narrow trim moulding down the length to cover up lines where the cases meet. If you go to Rona or Lowes they can show you the cabinet crown moulding. You can rent a nail gun (Recommended) or a drill with a very thin drill bit and nail them in place. putty the holes, a little sample jar of matching paint from Benjamin Moore and your billy bookcases look like $1000 built ins. It's a bit of work but so worth it. Or, if you want it temporary, there's a lot of styrofoam moulding now that you could cut and glue on as well.

You can use empty toilet paper rolls in between the grommets on the curtains and you not only don't see the grommets anymore, you have perfectly spaced pleats.

My mind was blown with the cabinet front change. 🤯 I just moved into my house and I'm not crazy about the cabinets in the kitchen but I'm not ready to take on that big job of renovating but the change out omg! I could paint and it would change the entire look. love your innovative ideas!

I have found some amazing bedding at thrift stores. Ralph Lauren home, Wamsutta, etc. High thread count and quality. I know it sounds a bit cringe, but I outfitted my entire Airbnb apartment with about 80% thrift textiles and I saved THOUSANDS. We are balling on a budget over here, seriously!!! Just be sure to hold up the bedding and inspect it make sure that it is still in as new condition. Washed in hot water with oxygenated bleach powder (available at dollar tree). Stick to neutral earth tones as they are more luxe looking and timeless.

Good old Billy bookcases. When IKEA first came to Philly -- which was the first store in US, in the mid 80s - we bought two Billy bookcases. Which expanded to three Billy bookcases. In white. And that was where we put ourCDs. Yes those were the days. We had over 800 CDs, all alphabetized. We put backs on the bookcases and it looked really nice. Of course when I got the hell out of Dodge I took my 20 favores left all the rest of it to the jerk. But that is beside the point. The Billy bookcase is a definite workhorse.

Hi. I was wondering if you could share some links for new ikea doors or sofa covers. Thanks. I love your content.

its a bit frustrating. When I bought my Ikea sofa they had slipcovers available in many colors. And they were only $49-79. Now, years later, they are gone. At that old price, I should have bought every color!

How far wide "should" curtains extend from the windows' sides, as a guideline to make them look more fancy?

I can’t use down due to allergies. Can you recommend some good alternatives?

Not Kiva, but I have allergies too. Look for something called "down alternative" . I've seen it in pillows and duvets. It's hypoallergenic. It's made a world of difference- no more waking up with a stuffy head.

One more thing...thanks to you I saved $1500 dollars by purchasing the banks dining table from American Furniture. And they had the white chairs in-stock. I'm so glad I came across youe page.
