The first time I saw The Interrupters they opened for sick of it all in rancid and I was blown away. I don't want this to sound sexist in any way because that's the last type of person I am and it's not that I don't like female lead singers I'm just not in the punk bands really that have females as their lead singer, I like that it's still there and of course I like bikini kill but The Interrupters are just on a whole different level to me. I'm sure there's people saying they're not a punk band they're a ska band well to me they're a band and I don't care what anybody says. And I'm also sure there's people calling me a sexist because I said I don't like the female lead singers that are punk bands well you're a snowflake and I get to have my own opinion. I love the distillers add bikini girl but I'm well aware of the fact that it's a female singing but when I'm listening to The Interrupters it's just a punk band of listening to I don't even realize that it's a girl singing and once again not that that's a bad thing that there's a girl singing it's just not my thing but boy the Interrupters are amazing. If anybody is lucky enough to go see them in concert they absolutely kill it, when I saw him and the only time I've seen him they were the opening band and I love sick of it all but they blew them away and I'm sorry but no one blows around it away but they were amazing. I'm going to end up with this to all you snowflakes that are going to call me a sexist pig go back and read what I said, it's about the least sexy thing you can say possible.
I really like the Interrupters, but I can’t shake the feeling that some of their songs are remakes of classics. In this instance Cocaine Blues by Johnny Cash.
I don't think they are advocating homicide any more than Bob Marley or Eric Clapton were advocating killing sherriffs. It's more of a metaphorical tale about the oppressed overcoming the oppressor. It's not meant to be taken literally.
