- Watch this video to fix catalytic converter heat shield loose rattle noise and secure the shield in the process. You will need to buy stainless steel hose clamps (5 - 7" - Home Dept or Lowes plumbing department), have a screwdriver or socket and ratchet to tighten the hose clamp.
Beware of where you put your hose clamps. If you tighten the exhaust to the frame, the car will shake.
Thanks. That was very helpful.
My heat shield was completely loose and rattling… but it was on the top. The bottom is hard steel with no shield… does this mean it’s already fallen off? Mine didn’t have any screw holes. Looks like they tack welded it or something.
Also, Harbor Freight has stainless steel zip ties. Probably even easier to use than the hose clamps.
Seems like the bottom half fell off already
This is probably whats making that raspy rattle noise I hear on my TL as well.
you should show people the noise before you fixed it. So it is much better to understand it.
Those clamps from Home Depot won’t last cause they are cheap metal buy those clamps from the dealer
