If Kemi Badenoch becomes leader of the Conservative Party, one thing is for sure: I shall never vote Tory again! I was once a dyed-in-the-wool Conservative voter; but Brexit put paid to that. (And the mess that the Conservatives have made of the country in the last fourteen plus years in office.) Also, it has to be said that the Conservative Party has become too hard right and populist for my taste. Tugendhat is about the only man I can think of who would make the Conservatives a one-nation party again. He's a sensible man with lots of class. Just what the Tories used to love.
Kemi Badenoch will be a disaster as far as I am concerned. I shall never vote for her. In any case, what is this pre-occupation with women leaders and leaders from ethnic minorities? Further, being a scientist won't help any. Thatcher was a scientist and look at the bloody mess she made of the country! (Believe it or not, I was once one of Thatcher's greatest fans! But hindsight is 20/20 vision.)
The Tories seem to be obsessed with being the party with the first woman leader, first Hindu leader, and now, it seems, the first black woman leader. What about a Welshman for a change? Or an Englishman? And how about a Conservative that is pro-EU - and a man? A man who is determined to lead this country to prosperity and heal the wounds that Brexit has inflicted on the nation? Our future lies in Europe, not in the bloody mid-Atlantic.

@@angelaellis7855 Oh hear! That is such a tedious answer. Please forgive me for saying that. Yes, we technically live in Europe, but what bloody good is that when idiots have cut the country off from our European brothers and sisters? Listen to the bloody rhetoric in this country, one would be forgiven for concluding that we didn't. Especially when one listens to the twaddle coming out of the mouths of hard-right, Europe-bashing Tories.

Let them elect her, she will be the first of many for the Tories to get through, and best of luck languishing on the opposition benches. I could see her being torn to shreds at PMQ's. Now the Tories are now going to be the political equivalent of Have I Got News For You with a guest leader every week. But I have to say with her conduct so far and those far right opinions she holds I do have to wonder if David Tennant had a point.

The right of the Tory party apears to have this affection for a time longtime gone of Maggie, section 28, and believing that that's what the country wants!. 5 years in politics will be a lifetime. Maybe that's what happens when Labour move back into the center. Divisive politics.
