- In part 2, political scientist Dr. Saeed Rahnema discusses his experience in the workers' council movement leading up to and during the Iranian Revolution of 1979-1980 and addresses the Islamic Republic's opposition to unions. Interesting discussion. We know the failures of the left but we ignores its successes and what we have to build on. Some of the points in this second video sound like the Great British Class Survey and repeat some of its problems, namely the overemphasis on sociological categories, which is not the same as Marxist sociology. Contra Maurizio Lazzarato and autonomist thinkers, identity groups are NOT classes. The same goes for ecologists, and so on, which is why there is so much debate within and outside these groups. The problems of identity politics for the left are often better addressed by cultural theorists and humanities scholars - though there are very few who do this work - than by political scientists, who simply incorporate everything for the sake of adherence and without critique, which tends to push socialism into the liberal-left and petty-bourgeois zone of politics. A critique of the middle class, especially in academia and the media, is high on the agenda, because their tendency is to betray the working class, even when they seek to represent the left. In terms of identity politics, the role of the PB middle class is to promote new forms of sociality that are designed to moralize workers and reproduce social class distinctions. DEI policies, whatever their merits, play this role in business, government and the culture and knowledge industries. Of course socialism is against all forms of oppression but not all identitarians are socialist. The political right understands this better than the left, which is muddled in countercultural and postmodern thought.
Thank you for this insightful talk.

@@theAnalysis-TaliaYou are welcome. Oh, BTW, Talia, have you seen the concept concert that happened earlier today in the UK? Featuring the British rapper Lowkey , the legendary Yusuf aka Cat Stevens, and
Roger Waters of Pink Floyd fame?
The name of the event is Stand Up for Palestine and the UA-cam channel that streamed it live is Double Down News. Cheers
@@flow963 I saw it, it's very important what people are doing.
@jung_ch I agree 100%. The way restoring Palestine as a land of plenty, a land of milk and honey will be paved by art, labors of love, and courageous commissions of the heart !!!
