@Awakened Virtue no, non criminals should be even more scared than actual criminals because an officer talking to you could escalate to you wrongfully being killed very quickly if you live in the US. This fear should multiply 100 times if you're not white. If you're innocent and you're not white and reject an officer checking you out it will escalate to the point of your life being threatened VERY quickly. If you don't believe me watch the recording of this officer attempting to investigate a scene of this black man picking up trash at his own residence because the officer thought he was invading someone else's property even tho he was on the public sidewalk. The officer had no right to investigate this black man on a street picking up trash. @St Cam it may be the same but the way it's done is different. In the UK it's much harder to get a firearm therefore there is little gun crime. More people die from stabbings and police almost never need do deal with these people face to face. The people are unarmed and so is the police

"going at the mercy of the wolves" This phrase really stood out to me. I feel this describes the relationship and the problem between police and, not even just criminals, but basically the general public in the US. They are straight out enemies. I don't get the same feeling when the UK officers are talking and I never had or heard of that here in Germany; not even when an officer approached me because I did something wrong. There simply ain't this lingering sense of threat. In my opinion, this is by far the bigger issue in the US, and and outweighs the entire gun-debate. The disconnect, the trench between the police force and the general public they "serve and protect". Every encounter is a potentially life-threatening event; for both sides. I'd say that the availability of firearms in the US is merely a multiplier, It makes an existing bad situation worse. But it ain't at the root of the issues.
Absolutely, more and more in the US the police develop this 'us vs them' mentality where the priority is to protect themselves and eachother rather than the citizens they're meant to serve. Policing in the UK isn't perfect, but they are regular people in uniforms as Peel intended.
@Opai-sama No, I don't. This wasn't meant as a "US Cops bad"-post. I am well aware about the hostility towards Cops in the US, that with every encounter he could face a gun. And that's equally insane. That's also what I meant mentioning the lingering sense of threat when hearing the US Cops speak, that's exactly what comes through in the phrase above. I can understand that a criminal may see a Cop as an enemy, but average citizens? The Point I tried to emphasize is the disconnect/the trench between the executive force and the general public, sometimes even including the other two forces of the state. And again, this goes both ways.
It's like a standoff between two armed groups, and everyone waits for the other one to put the guns down first. And nobody adresses how crazy it is, that in 2021 in the richest nation in the world, there's a standoff between two armed groups. This ain't the wild west anymore, and it's not a warzone, yet.

Our firearms regulations are so strict that there are only 6 guns per 100 people in the UK, the US has more like 150 guns per 100 people. Our main threats in the UK are knife crimes, robbery, etc. Giving every officer a firearm is inappropriate for the threats; we have firearms officers who patrol, just as regular officers do. Their role is to respond to incidents deemed too dangerous for unarmed officers; this might be due to a history of violence against the police, reports of a suspected firearm(imitation or real), machetes or swords. Possession of Imitation swords or guns are treated just as seriously under British law as genuine weapons.

@@JG-ge3ui Is that why crime is increasing more in the UK than the US? The police needa toughen up there bcuz they're seen as a joke
@@AD-ge1bz have you heard of somthing called counter terrorist poilce

you're confusing UK with Canada...
UK: No weapons
US: *GUN GUN GUN GUN GUN GUN*
That's what's great about the US.
Sonny Onny ye lol so great the US legalizes guns, simply look at the amount of shootings and killings, ur logic seems to be more guns=less shooting sorry pal but no
@@scotsmann5518 Look at the areas with restrictions and limitations, you still have the same result. If a person wants to commit a crime, they will illegally obtain a firearm. Leaving your people defensless against criminals is unfair.
@@Dan-zt7uj you say this, so how come there is such a huge gap when it comes to shootings in the UK than US, even though you can get guns illegally, we don't have one every month
scotsmann 55 Texas has less shootings than California and New York, even though Texas is 100x more pro-gun and CA and NY are filled with gun restrictions. Sorry man, the math doesn’t fit.
Wasn’t there a report not too long ago that UK police are having mental breakdowns and quitting becuase of how dangerous it has become? With all the stabbings in the UK and what not.
Fake news
Nope only reason there are less is because their pay has been cut.
@judgementday 666 lmao
@judgementday 666 Obvious troll us obvious.
judgementday 666 ik it’s a troll but surely not having a gun is braver than having a gun
The reason police in the UK don’t carry firearms is that there is no need to. guns are strictly controlled in the country and, if the need arises, armed police can be dispatched to dangerous situations as well as CTSFOS (Counter Terrorism police) and other specialised teams.
@Benito Mussolini Those batons can quite easily break bones... it has happened.
Well i sure hope im never in a situation in the UK where time is important. Thats like having a fire brigade that dont carry a ladder but can call another truck that has one if they arrive and discover the building is too tall. ;)
@@Positronic20136 You do realise that if the word firearm or gun is mentioned in the call they deploy armed police straight away don't you....
@@Positronic20136 Because we're such a small country, it's likely the emergency services would arrive more quickly than in a very large country like the United States, unless you live in the middle of New York City, etc. Remember in the UK nowhere is further than 70 miles from the sea. That's how small we are.
All these Americans laughing at how un protected our police are yet we just think its sad your country is such a horrible place to live that your police need those guns...
I think it’s sad you and your cops are at the mercy of whoever is attacking you...
@@feelsweirdman_1823 no because they aren't getting attacked because we have sane gun laws
@@miles9294 most of the gun violence in the US occurs in cities or states that ban guns and the refugees in the UK are man handling UK cops
@@feelsweirdman_1823 and who's attacking?
Well, at least when someone starts bombing/stabbing/shooting people with weapons, they dont need to run away, to call the COPS with guns. I watched the video of the incident of the bombing/stabbing rampage, and I saw all the unarmed Uk cops running away, and I shook my head, and told myself, UK BETTER ARM UP THEIR COPS, but then I saw the clip where Firearm Units arrived and gunned them down 5 minutes after. The cops were there but weren't armed, so they literally gave the killers 5 extra minutes to go on their rampage as they ran away with the civilians for cover.
UK ="TASER TASER TASER"
US = *"HITMAN 47"*
The United States police doesn’t have a cool hat.
1. Yes we do his is off
2. The British hat makes me want to use my freedom of speech in a rude way to tell you how bad they are
It depends on what department
Alright but British police don’t get cool shades
UK police hats make me want to swing at em.
Not cause I hate cops, but cause their hats make em look like nerds.
Sheriff's and State Troopers in the US have cool hats almost like cowboy hats
US Police : and also we have another alien weapons.
“In Britain they don’t carry a gun or a taser”
UK cop: *shows us his taser*
NiklasStøterau most officers don’t, like he showed the other man without the taser
In most counties it is mandated that on patrol one of two officers has one
@@markaarons12 I find that bizarre that they can routinely carry a glock a lethal option but for a less lethal option like taser they have to be qualified.
Northern Irish police carry handguns
@@bloodyviper11 Lol you think they don't undergo qualification for their service pistol?...
Different cultures, different needs. Brits don't have ready access to firearms, guns are omnipresent in dangerous criminals hands in the USA.
most sensible comment here
guns are also used to save people more often, the gun related deaths in America was 39773 in 2017, 60% of those were suicides, 2.5 million people are saved by guns each years, I see the pros outweigh the cons by a long shot
Hardly sensible comment at all. I love how you lot say it's because of the gun presence here. No, no it isn't. Go watch all the cop body can footage where tazers don't work on many people. By the time they rush you, with their hands or knife or someone else. You're probably dead. Guns save lives.
