I have just purchased the Arendal 1723 THX Monitors. They have surpassed my expectations in every way in my 2.1 channel system. The soundstage and imaging is fantastic. The have great low, mids and highs. These speakers have convinced me that the D'Appolito design is the way to go. I totally agree with Villaman. I found out, if you run the Monitors in sealed mode, use an 80hz crossover on your sub.
@@ThaVillaMan I get that. Hopefully more HDR tools will develop. I just uploaded an HDR video from my Xperia for a hyper x headset and fortunately my phone gives me alot of color presets to choose from..I know color grading can be a pain though. :/
I own the 1723s monitors as LCR. They get even more amazing with more power. Just went from a Monolith 7 across the front to a Krell 3250 (that's from 300w at 4 ohms -> to 500w at 4 ohms)...honestly didn't think it could sound better but those ricocheting bullets in John Wick 3 sound even more amazing.
Great video! The pricing of 3g’s for the towers is actually very reasonable for speakers of this quality. Based on how you describe them ,they sound magnificent. Thought maybe they could have made them have a slightly higher rating on the high end so they aren’t rolling off at 20khz. But I haven’t heard these so I don’t know the sound signature of the tweeters. They look amazing and I’m sure they sound even better. Good stuff👍✌️🍻
Been waiting for this review for awhile. I can’t decide if I want monitors or towers. The prices are also cheaper than that. Take the euro price and divide it by 1.19 to subtract the vat. Then add 7.5% or 5% depending if the order is over or under 3k to calculate the shipping. If you contact Arendal they can send you a quote and explains all this.
Apparently the towers need room round them to function at there best. The lack of room and the fact I'm running dual subs I decided to go for monitors all round. Guys at Arendal will recommend depending on room size and how much room you have for them if you tell them your room size etc. Their customer service is excellent.
Thank you bro! These speakers are definitely on my list. It is my impression that the Arendal sound is full, impactful, and very detailed. (I an definitely not a fan of a “smooth” or “rolled-off” sound.😀) I have experience with pro-audio, 2 channel, car audio, and surround systems. (Maybe my age, (natural hearing loss), and former drummer experience leads me to prefer an open and somewhat bright sound?) Swedish magazine did a comparison. To summarize, if you like fun & loud go for Arendal, if you’re more into the analytical sound, go SVS. The two authors were divided.
I've got the ultras and about the same size room and if you need them to be louder you probably got hearing problems lol and the svs center is just so amazingly clear. I have seen some people take the center apart to see that you can change out some parts to make it even better idk how because its already amazingly clear and loud but they said it does get better. During edge of tomorrow whenever he wakes up and screams everytime I've never heard something sound so realistic and clear it sounds like he's right there screaming directly at u

Tha_VillaMan 1723s monitors, center and surrounds. Still need to finish out the system though. Either going to get the towers and move the monitors to the rear or get another pair of monitors for the rear. Trying to find out if I will get any benefits with the towers over the monitors.

Sly foxxx I can’t really say how they compare to other brands besides the ones I replaced which was klipsch reference premiere. But I don’t think that will be helpful for your purposes. Best bet is to check the arendal 1723 thread on avforum. Maybe someone there can answer or has already answered.
If you have a cinema all dark go for jtr alot of power for the money. Something for home theatre the rf 7 lll is hard to beat these cost more than the arendals. But the looks are nice on the Norway speakers. I'm hoping Klipsch does some big upgrades on the rf 7 lV maybe give it the new orange rings lines maybe better binding post, internal components
Thang I can see the IV’s having the binding post plate/look of the new Cornwall and Heresy, those look much nicer. It would be cool to see them add a 3 way Reference Series tower or bring back an old line. I would like to see the option of black drivers (like used on the C series subs) because I know the copper alone is a reason many people don’t like the look. I am going to order JTR 210RT’s to compare with RF-7III
What do you think about the Arendal’s compared to the SVS ultra system? I guess what I’m truly asking is is I have the SVS bed layer five point speaker set up and I’m wondering since these are arendals are twice the price are they twice the speaker and worth the upgrade? I’m really looking for clarity in louder volume levels. Especially from the center channel.
They are on my wish list. First was close to order Audiovector qr5 system. But wanted bigger speakers i can have in a long time. So now im saving to buy 1723 S system :D

I watch most of my entertainment on my PC so I thought the best way to trial these speakers without spending the mega bucks to get the full 1723, 5.1 tower speaker setup would be to buy the 1723 S, Monitor S speakers, pair them with the Bluesound Powernode 2i and have that as my stereo setup for my pc :D
Thanks for reviewing these, I am very much considering getting a set. So you really don't think we need to buy a subwoofer for the system bearing in mind I would have them in a medium size room, concrete flooring and I have issues with my pc speakers bass causing issues with the bass travelling to my mums house next door let alone a hifi sub. I ask this as I wonder whether you want to buy the sub and set it to barely audible just to round out the sound or are the tower speakers enough? btw, I know these speakers have a 60 day trial policy but given their weight I would think the return shipping would cost a fair chunk given I am in Australia.

Nice review, as always. I am considering going all in on a cinema setup with AT 150 inch screen, and identical MTM speakers plus a pair of PSA S2112 subwoofers. The Arendal 1723 S THX and the Magnat Cinema 100 THX are on my short list. Any thoughts?
I just gave back the Ultra towers theater set up and went with the Arendal 1723s monitirs and surround speakers. I kept the SVS elevation speakers and PB3000 sub and have an SB 3000 on the way. I ONLY watch movies and have to say, the SVS ultras were really nice, but then the Arendals came in the mail and knocked it out the park. The sound stage is huge and not over bearing. The dialog is so much better with their 1723s monitor. The SVS Ultra center was great, but the Arendals had more of the cinema sound I was looking for. Somewhat neutral, not super high or super deep. Perfect sound.

For a really large space, I think the Atlantic would be better. I loved the customization and the treble did sound a bit better than the Arendal. I did prefer the Arendal overall tho (the both sound really good).

hi boss ! would u suggest the towers or monitors for fronts in a smallish room? say 4mx3.4m? I have quite a tight fitting room. in contemplating towers or monitors but im thinking monitor stands might be abit expensive. any advice?
How would you compare these against the SVS Pinnacles? I assume better but is it significant? Interested in these but hard to make that call without the in home trial period SVS offers.
Listen I like your honesty, I am in the market to buy a set of front stage spearkers. I do have the Klipsh 8065 witch i no longer use the dolby on them because i have them in the ceiling now but klipsh are ok, I like a serious 3 way system and also I just purchase the other day a parasound amp 21+, it makes the klipsh great but still i am missing detail in a 3 way system. Would you say these are better than klipsh and have you heard of canton refference 7k or any canton speakers i am willing to pay around 5k for my front stage can you help me pick a pair. I like my mid bass very snappy punch and my mids nice and my hz crisp. I also purchase two pb3000. I have a emotiva but its not good to me so iam stuck with it. It will just do my surround for now on. I need help. Please respond ASAP. Thanks

I have Arendals also. I agree about them being effortless. High Volumes are no problem, and incredibly dynamic.

Thang the good thing about the Klipsch is you can only get them discounted by 20% or so from dealers.

Nice review, as always. I am considering going all in on a cinema setup with AT 150 inch screen, and identical MTM speakers plus a pair of PSA S2112 subwoofers. The Arendal 1723 S THX and the Magnat Cinema 100 THX are on my short list. Any thoughts?

I just gave back the Ultra towers theater set up and went with the Arendal 1723s monitirs and surround speakers. I kept the SVS elevation speakers and PB3000 sub and have an SB 3000 on the way. I ONLY watch movies and have to say, the SVS ultras were really nice, but then the Arendals came in the mail and knocked it out the park. The sound stage is huge and not over bearing. The dialog is so much better with their 1723s monitor. The SVS Ultra center was great, but the Arendals had more of the cinema sound I was looking for. Somewhat neutral, not super high or super deep. Perfect sound.
Great review! You speak of those things wnich truly matter without the high end snobbery that seems to run on some reviewers channels. Have my like and sub, sir. Look forward to hearing more. It would be very interesting to hear a comparison to the Buchardt S400 mkII speakers.

For a really large space, I think the Atlantic would be better. I loved the customization and the treble did sound a bit better than the Arendal. I did prefer the Arendal overall tho (the both sound really good).

It’s a step up in my opinion, but not a big one. I prefer the bass response of the Arendals and how clean they sound.

MTM is a very popular center channel design. It is more than capable for HT

TVM, I currently have the following speakers and looking to replace them with Arendal 1723 Monitors, 1723 center, surround, and 1723 BShelf speakers. I'm also looking at the 1723 S series towers, center, surround and BShelf with 6.5in drivers all the way round for more tibre matching. What are your thoughts on this idea? What would be the difference in sound quality vs my current speakers.

The S version might be better option, but when you consider the size of stands make it similar to the towers, then I’d go with the towers

Are these speakers hard to push?
Not one bit. They have pretty high sensitivity (92dB). I had them powered by an outlaw Model 5000 at one point and they sounded great

How would you compare these against the SVS Pinnacles? I assume better but is it significant? Interested in these but hard to make that call without the in home trial period SVS offers.

Listen I like your honesty, I am in the market to buy a set of front stage spearkers. I do have the Klipsh 8065 witch i no longer use the dolby on them because i have them in the ceiling now but klipsh are ok, I like a serious 3 way system and also I just purchase the other day a parasound amp 21+, it makes the klipsh great but still i am missing detail in a 3 way system. Would you say these are better than klipsh and have you heard of canton refference 7k or any canton speakers i am willing to pay around 5k for my front stage can you help me pick a pair. I like my mid bass very snappy punch and my mids nice and my hz crisp. I also purchase two pb3000. I have a emotiva but its not good to me so iam stuck with it. It will just do my surround for now on. I need help. Please respond ASAP. Thanks

Thx certified used to mean something back then but its more of a branding now. Movies used to have thx surround but dolby atmos is the boss in town.
MetalsForBrunch THX wasn’t ever an audio format... it was always a standard... Dolby and DTS we’re always the digital surround formats
