Air Supply was one of those musical groups (duo) that the so-called "cool" guys would not admit to liking, but you'd see them singing it in the car when they didn't think anyone was looking.
LOL I grew up on Classic Rock but this was the music my mom listened to in the car so this was "just important" as Classic Rock" in my opinion... NOT one of the "cool guys..." I never had to lie about loving these guys, in fact I had their Greatest Hits cassette in my car in High School!!! 🤣❤
There was no auto tune then.. people could sing. This is why Steve Perry from journey was so amazing, he sang with no auto tune in concerts and sounded like this studio recordings.. just phenomenal talent. Air supply same, this was how they sounded with no pitch correction. Check out more Chicago for some great vocals.
Oh man, the music of my youth. Being a teenager and feeling like you're in love for the first time. God, this brings back soooo many memories. I raised my kids on Air Supply, Reo Speedwagon, and Journey. I miss those days.
Air Supply lead vocalist Russell Hitchcock holding the final note for "16.2 seconds". This was the longest-held note for a male pop singer until 1983, when Sheriff lead vocalist Freddy Curci held the final note of "When I'm with You" for 19.4 seconds.
"When I'm with You" by Sheriff is another song BP would probably like. I remember I was up late babysitting for a neighbor to earn some spending money when that song hit number one on the charts. I clapped and shouted forgetting that I was babysitting young kids. Luckily, I didn't wake them. 😆
As a teenager throughout the 70's, men were clearly more romantic. Expressing feelings came easy. We spent time talking, having adventures, experiencing life - no phones, no internet. It made a difference. All communications in relationships were Face to face - no texting. I think that's why 70's balads are just a step above the rest.
Tip of the iceberg for Air Supply. Graham Russel (tall guitarist) and Russell Hitchcock (vocalist, red shirt) are incredible and deserve more accolades than they have received.
Hey BP, yes that is his real voice, no auto tune, Russell Hitchcock is a natural tenor. Air Supply is an Aussie duo and they honed their harmonies when playing in small pubs in Melbourne, and they formed in 1975. I saw them in 2016, in a cosy theatre here in Brisbane QLD, and they still sounded so great. One of my favourite Aussie duo’s, great reaction BP💕💕
Richard Fink IV holds the record for the longest continuous vocal note at 2 minutes and 1.07 seconds, achieved in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 17, 2019. Fink previously held the record from 2009 to 2016, but trained hard to regain the title
Air Supply's 1980 song "All Out of Love" features a 16.2 second vocal note held by Russell Hitchcock, which was the longest note ever held by a male pop singer at the time
They are one of the few people that I have seen in concert. They were wonderful. Russell Hitchcock does sound that way. That picture of them now shows how long ago the video was made.
That moment when you know you’re about to cry but you can’t bring yourself to stop listening. Their Greatest Hits are epic and necessary music education.
70's, 80's and even 90's music = friendship, romance, courtship, love. Sitting and listening to the record player playing music. Goinfg to dances were you danced and even sang to the music of Air supply, Ice House INX, Cold Chisel, Mondo Rock etc. Great Aussie bands. I saw them in person just a couple years ago. They are still seriously high quality singers. When I was in junior high I spent a summer memorizing this album.
I love Air Supply! I saw the in concert a month ago and they are still awesome! Next year will be their 50th year together, and you betcha I will go watch them again!
i had their Hawaiian video playing while in labor with my daughter! i told the lead singer, Russell Hitchcock, what i did, and he tells my story in interviews today!! i have been dubbed Labor Room Linda!! I've been a fan since the summer of 1980! his voice pierces my soul! thank you for reacting and lots of love!
It's another one of those groups, like the Righteous Brothers, that sound even better live. Their absolute best, in my opinion, is "Lost In Love" where the vocals soar into another world. Thank you for reacting to this great group of singers. Air Supply is another group I could listen to all day.
He's not asking "what are you thinking of" in terms of "what did I do wrong?" He already KNOWS and has admitted that he was WRONG. He's asking what she's thinking in terms of being willing to take him back, NOW that he HAS admitted it! LOL
Air Supply is a soft rock duo formed in Melbourne, Australia, in 1975, consisting of Englishman Graham Russell (vocals, guitar) and Australian Russell Hitchcock (vocals).
Can't go wrong with Air Supply. I was born in 70 and back then, as i know you well know, TRUE TALENT is how you made it, no auto correct or anything else to make a weak voice strong.
Air Supply is still touring today!!! They are amazing!!! They sound exactly like this live! I've seen them a few times and they sound exactly like the record. The first time I saw them live I knew I loved the love songs, but they weren't my first choice. But after seeing them live, I decided I'm seeing them every time they come close to Louisville!!!
Being that I was a teenager, back in the 70’s and early 80’ music expressed true feelings and were used to say what a person couldn’t. I have a number of cassette tapes made for me that I still have today by my husband of 40 years and they always bring back the feelings and sweet memories. We were so blessed back then and that music can be enjoyed by others for lifetimes to come.
My husband took me to see AIR SUPPLY at Harrahs Cherokee NC a few months ago! They are in their 70's now and still sound the same! They are AMAZING!!!!!
I have 2 sons, ages 25 and 26. They went with me to my ear doctor about a month ago. It's a father/son business. The son is in his 30s. We were talking about music and somehow this band came up. He had no idea who these guys are. My boys started singing songs. I just looked at him, shrugged my shoulders and said "They have vast musical knowledge". Made my kids laugh.
Air Supply's music is the sound tract for me dating my wife. We actually met Graham Russell (the tall one) when they were in Phoenix in the early 2020s. It was 40 years after we dated. Graham was a real down to earth bloke (guy). When we met, he offer to buy me a drink. Couldn't have that so I bought him one. We spoke for quite a while. Told him their music was the sound tract of our dating and he laughed. I knew why he laughed, but he didn't have to. He said that he'd heard that alot. In the words of my father, "Graham was good people. I am biased, but I love Air Supply.

@@ruthlafler5622 It was done quite often, and was one reason why records could be expensive to produce. Hearthrobs like Frankie Avalon owe their careers to it. Just saw them last weekend and they sound awesome still! That is Russell Hitchcock’s voice. He just turned 75, has a smoking hot wife, is all tatted up, and fit! Great show look for them in your area.
I was 10 years old in 1970 and was so blessed to listen to the entire decade of beautiful talented voices in romantic songs with no auto tunes! Just pure talent 😊 Thank you for your great reaction ❤
They remind me so much of Bread. I got all the same feels from both. We still love to be spoken to like we’re the only woman in your life. That doesn’t mean you own me.
Love Casting Crowns. My daughter took her life in October of 2021 due to mental health problems and I had this video/song played at her memorial service. I know in my heart she is not suffering any longer and is with God. No more scars.
Saw them in person many times back in the day…sounded as good live as recording. In fact, once, Russell had fallen off the stage the night before and broken some ribs. It was touch and go whether they would be able to perform that night. You could tell he was miserable, but he sang, held on to his ribs at one point … and still hit the note.

You HAVE TO LISTEN TO "Making Love Out of Nothing At All"! Those lyrics are like none other! Air Supply is just one of many awesome and one of a kind power ballad bands of the 80s!

Once we got past glaciers, I did a study of the Great Lakes Water Highway as it was the path on which traders, missionaries and explorers took that led to settling the area known as the midwest. As part of the Water Highway, we also studied Great Lakes ship wrecks. Every year, on November 10th, I taught this song. We read the old Milwaukee Journal articles on the event, followed by reading the lyrics, before ever playing the song. Once I played the video (the one that highlights pictures of the ship, the crew and the bell), you could hear a pin drop in the classroom. I think, at the time, Russell legitimately holds that note -- because he did it live too -- for 15 -16 seconds which I think was a record at the time

that's his voice.. we were in upstate new york on vacation with my in laws and they played one night ( show was free with your stay ) and all the people over 50 got up and walked out because they were to rock and roll.. we were like what?? really?? these guys???
