It does not matter how many times I watch this, it brings a big smile to my face each time. Tommy's timing is impeccable and none it works without Tommy being such an amazing straight man.
I was lucky enough to see the Smothers Brothers three times as a kid at a place called The Carousel Theater in Southern California. I’ll miss you and your yo-yo Tommy. RIP.
There most certainly _are_ pumas in North America, Dick. Tommy was right, even though he pronounced it wrong. Watch for foaming rocks. I ain't a-goin' down in them thar cravises neither! I had two brothers, one of them has gone on to the other side of mourning now, (RIP Larry) and we all three used to laugh our asses off at the bit about the pumas.
I can't find the one they did where Tommy talks about the Foaming Pumas in the rocks, because there were signs that said, "Watch out for foaming rocks". It was similar to this one. I'm starting to think it was Mandela Effected into non-existence. (in this Earth / World / Universe / Dimension / Reality / Timeline)
Nunyer Binnis A puma is a wild cat, much like a panther and so on. A crevice is a narrow opening in rock formations. Hence, there is a puma stuck in the crevice.
Styles change, like the music they would never listen to today. This show was hugely popular. As a teen, we would be in tears as they did their shtick. Looking back, it seems a bit much... (and they were the gold standard of having bands on TV!)
RIP Tommy. And you were right, there ARE pumas in America, Dick doesn't know what he's talking about.
I heard this decades ago and every time I hear the crevis I smile!

RIP Tommy!
Dick: "Don't be ridiculous. There are no Pumas in California"
Tom: "YOU tell that to the Pumas"

It is hilarious, however, there ARE pumas in America. Dickey got that one wrong.

There in the cravis, I saw a danger lurk!

Dickie should have messed up his lines. Tommy: "What's the matter? Puma got your tongue?"
anyone know the date and show?
This was I believe was the final episode of The Jack Benny Program.

I remember seeing this when I was 6 yrs old. Would kids today laugh at this kind of stuff? I'm thinking probably not.
They have bo idea what a puma is, much less a cravis...

Actually, we do have pumas in America...we call them cougars or mountain lions.
