Strohl is already my favorite character in the game. I love how he is the idealized version if the noble hero. And his interactions with the main characters are very good too
I really liked Klinger's delivery on, That might have been the name. It shows how little he cares, but to deliver it in a non-chalant tone is amuses me, as a form of dark humor.
The story is quite fast, no long introduction, straight to the point. Metaphor ReFantazio looks incredible too! Gives a kind of painted style and the characters are really entertaining (cool accent :3)
Appreciate the introductory monologue, it fits really well considering that Metaphor is definitely more of a Political Drama than anything that Atlus has made till this date. I've seen more and more animes adopt that Narration concept as well, Realist Hero being one of my personal favorites of them all. That aside, seems like Atlus kept the male party member being with us since before our awakening and then simultaneously awakening a while later trope going. Its tradition at this point lol. Really love the fact that the visuals insinuate that Strohl is speaking on behalf of his people who suffered the same sense of horror and betrayal that he did. I can't explain how much I love the fact that they scream into their hearts shaped like a microphone to call upon their power. Its so damn perfect. I'm hoping that these awakening cutscenes are for every party member but that's just a wish and its probably not the case. Seeing what happened with Grius, that's probably how they'll manage side party members.
you know what, i cant help but think the people cheering are the deceased from his village being proud of him. I would be to if i knew my young lord be spitting bars like that.
Agree on the trash fights being a waste of time, it's a problem across just about all RPGs and can really pad the game out which a lot of these titles that are 60-100hrs+ don't need in the slightest. I'd been so used to it so just viewed it as a genre convention and to be expected but after playing BG3 where the encounters are all pretty much handcrafted instead of getting into random encounters/ trash mob fights was such a breath of fresh air. What Metaphor does here is greatly appreciated and the ending encounters in one hit feeds into the power fantasy.
more's character (as i'm sure everyone knows by now) is based on thomas more, the writer of utopia - a political satire from the 16th century. it's absolutely insane to me how political ideas that form the bedrock of a socialist polity were propounded by a guy a whole 350 years before marx wrote capital. love the research that went into this game and i'm so so excited for the rest of your journey playing it
Why is nobody talking about how amazing your voice acting is? You sound damn close to every single character so far. Im almost finished with my first playthrough but this is so entertaining im afraid i may finish this first 😂
I’ve only known this dude (Strohl) for an hour but he’s already my favorite character. Who wouldda thought the guy with the best kung fu tea flavor is also the best character in the game?
Louis reminds me of Griffith from Berserk, minus the sacrificing an entire nation and other atrocities. More's Academia= Metaphor's Velvet Room? Metaphor goes hard with these Awakenings.
Damn, this game is beautiful and is dripping with style. Can't expect anything less from Atlus. Loving your commentary and voice work for the characters too. 😊
@@Handlelesswithme The Archetypes don’t play similar to Persona in anyway lol, Persona is more so like Pokémon-esque while Archetypes are more like Job/Class Systems from other JRPGs
imo the archetype awakenings feel a bit too similar to the p5 persona awakenings. not saying thats necessarily a bad thing or good thing. i know many people see it as a good thing because they like more persona, but if i'm gonna be honest, i dont mean to sound like, "edgy", i guess? but i wish the tone of the story was a bit darker and grittier. either way, an atlus fantasy game is something i'm gonna be unconditionally excited about
I think you were spot on I feel like the archetype thing especially is too similar to Persona’s Carl Jung format -hence why I think this game is just persona 3 Isekai’d And a fantasy world is that setting that benefits a lot more from edginess. -Granted the story does have some plot points like an army of recruits that was sent to basically die etc -but it is pretty hard to maintain that with its anime hijinx art style and writing
I'm actually curious, in what way do you think the story could get darker and grittier? Because FFXVI tried to do that until midway through the game and it fell off a bit.
@@tunamayhoe spoilers for episode 4 of the series. and madoka magica episode 3 if you care about that. i guess its more along the lines of i wanted to see more main character death? i get that we're only like 2 hours into the game 💀, so obviously nothing that big would happen. but like for example in episode 1, i wish somebody actually like died to the human. like yeah, the entire fortress besides will, strohl, and grius dies, but we didnt actually know any of them. for me, because nobody i knew died, despite the incredible design of the human, the human didnt feel that dangerous. i feel like i would've registered the human as a way bigger threat if it just came outta nowhere and killed someone i grew attached to. i also get that when the human attacked, we only knew gallica and strohl so to kill someone off that early would feel cheap. still, for something like madoka magica, that show managed to kill off a main character within the first hour of runtime and make it feel impactful. when mami dies, there are only really 4 main characters, yet it still doesnt feel cheap or anything. i feel like metaphor refantazio could've done something similar to that, granted, comparing an anime to a game is different cause the game has to spend quite a bit of time introducing the character to the mechanics of the game, but i think it couuld've totally been doable. tldr: wanted more main character deaths (like grius in episode 4) the human would've felt a lot more dangerous had someone we knew actually died to it could've done something like madoka magica and killed a core character early on into the story.
