  • It's so easy to fall into the trap of buying all the planners, and before you know it, you're writing everything multiple times across every planner. Today I'm sharing a few hints I've collected along the way to cut down on planner duplication.

For the last 3 years I’ve used a Cousin and a Weeks. The Cousin has everything in it. The Weeks only has appointments and errands outside of the house- I write lists of things to buy there. I use the weeks monthly to track workouts. It was important to not have a lot of duplication- I didn’t want it to feel stressful to keep up. It’s worked out really well so far. When I went on a two week trip I just took the Weeks. They are a dream team for me. Next year I plan to use a personal rings the same way I use the Weeks. I feel compelled to keep/store the Weeks, but I really will never refer to that information again- anything important is already in the Cousin. Maybe I’ll feel more comfortable just recycling loose paper😂

I've kept every Weeks I've used since 2018! I refer to them every once a while if I'm trying to remember what I was doing at a certain time. I used to use the Weeks as my every day carry but I found that it was too big for some of my handbags and so I needed to downsize. As much as my I like my pocket bujo I am tempted for 2025 to see if I can try and get back into the Weeks as my EDC. When I go to Japan later in the year I am probably going to pick up a Plotter though and was thinking that could be a good alternative as an EDC (in pocket size rather than personal though).

🤔 💡 Thank you for sharing! My take away is to try using different layouts for work and home as you suggest. I want to return to being a one planner person. But I have been enjoying the separation and not thinking too much about work when I’m off work.

I definitely can't merge the two, I have different needs for work and home. I also couldn't think of anything worse than seeing all my work tasks merged with my home ones when I'm trying to relax.

I started 2024 with three planners. I stopped using Weeks because of the issue of copying stuff in two planners so I focussed only on the Cousin and my A6 Hobonichi is purely for gratitude and other mental health stuff. I did purchase B6 Common Planner purely because of the size to see if that size would suit me for next year because in 2025 I really want to have just one notebook for everything.

I'd be interested to know how you get on with the B6! I don't think I could get everything in a B6, as much as I love the size because it sits on my desk quite nicely.

@@lethbridgepaper I’m still testing it but I like it a lot, the size seems perfect cause A5 is sometimes too big. On the other hand because A5 is bigger, I can decorate it more so it’s a big dilemma still which size would be perfect for me 😅

Ah yeah I know what you mean. Part of why I keep the Cousin around is for something to decorate when I feel like it!

It’s called Gelato! I used to leave a link in the description to the colour I was using; I’ll start adding it back in!

Yeah as much as I'd love one planner for all, it would be too large to carry with me and the lack of separation would definitely give me anxiety.
