I am a 60 year old white man...rarely a minority. This said, I felt so blessed to be welcomed into the WNBA community. Thank y'all. Watched a lot of games and figured it out. Womens basketball is awesome because....women are awesome! It's hoops and like the NBA you come for the basketball and you stay for the culture. PS. GO tEMPO! Practice hard ladies were coming!

People should read the actual TIME magazine article. It does a great job explaining why CC richly deserves the award. It also does a great job-over and over-describing the profound racism of much of her white, midwestern fanbase. CC rejects the racism; she’s a great young lady.

@ there have been athletes that have won multiple times, no where did I say she couldn’t win twice. I was pointing it out because everyone keeps bringing up her name as if she hasn’t before. However, if time magazine went that route, athletes like Michael Jordan or LeBron James would’ve won 10x. Also the “best athlete” doesn’t always get that award and it’s a subjective title anyway. Clark won because of the long list of records she accumulated in both the NCAA and WNBA this past year and her impact on women’s basketball this year. It was well deserved.
