Thanks a lot for your nice comment!!! If you are really interested in learning how to leather-wrap a steering-wheel, start practicing these basics. My first fast procedure related course would be for sale as soon as possible...if everything turns out right...no more than a month.
awesome video what i use to make my pattern out I buy a tracking wheel for sewing patterns have the needle wheel as well I use that as my stick pattern to just jump a stick if I want to space it out when I will figure what I want to use for the thread
I wonder if I can replicate this look for some hand stitching detail for a garment. It might be a pretty way to finish a seam. Thanks for the inspiration👍
It's hard to see how the starting stitch is made with both strings being the same color. It appears as tho the same needle is passed through twice but then both strings are somehow through the hole
It is not necessary a knot because it should slide through the holes in the leather with no obstacles. A bonded thread is useful for these hand sewings. Non-bonded threads are prone to fraying after a distance of hand sewing. Polyester threads can be waxed by hand.ua-cam.com/video/UxECNpDsYtc/v-deo.html
Good video. The stitching is well explained. I am trying to put a leather steering wheel cover, any chance you can make a video on how to actually put do the stitch on the steering wheel please?
+Arun Nair Precisely at this moment we're preparing our first course related to how to leather-wrap a steering wheel...Hopefully, in less than a month we'll have it ready for sale on a new website...we'll be informing on youtube.
Hola from Germany, great video! I'd like to wrap the handle of a Larping-dagger (flexible rubber foam) with this technique, would this also work on a bent, curvy shape? The biggest difference would be that I can not glue it on, because the glue might destroy the rubber or the colour, and I could not use too much force due to its softness. Your opinion is much appreciated!
+Jo P The design also works for 'bent curves'...if possible, for a better idea I'd like to see the shape of the handle. About the glue, it would not be necessary if you cut the leather piece to snuggly fit onto the handle. Thanks for asking and taking me into account!
Balbino de Jesus Of course! you can use this stitch to vinyl-wrap the legs of your chair! The leather piece is glued to the cardboard and should not be removed. You would do almost the same, when wrapping the legs of your chair...the seam edges should be free to let you make the hand sewing.
Dear Cindy, For this kind of stitching the total thread length for the inside rim of the steering wheel is 4 times approx. Hopefully, this video is useful to understand: ua-cam.com/video/PcAmaou3F2g/v-deo.html
The waxed thread is useful when handsewing steering-wheels or another artisan projects. We should avoid a waxed thread on sewing machines. It could cause skipped stitches.

Thanks for the tutorial man, this is awesome! I want to make a DIY Heavy bag for boxing, would you suggest i use this technique to stitch along the seams of the bag?
+jay jayy I do not suggest use this 'handsewing pattern' for your 'boxing bag'...you'd rather do 'lock stitches with a standard sewing machine': The first sewing would be to close the seams, then you would reinforce them with on top/over stiching.
1ARTHURJR Thanks for your suggestion. These simple stitches can be learned and performed just by watching carefully...most of these basic videos apply a 'visual method' and are aimed to people who is starting to learn upholstery.
Con todo respeto pero esa costura se hace al revés metiendo las agujas por los orificios de afuera hacia adentro y al final se hace el remate doble y se hala toda la costura con un gancho para ajustarse

Is there a knot anywhere on the string to make it stay on the needles or just the excess string keeping it in there ?
It is not necessary a knot because it should slide through the holes in the leather with no obstacles. A bonded thread is useful for these hand sewings. @@Step_BayStep Yes, thick threads for baseball, cross stitches, etc. and thinner threads for the two European stitches (diamond and hexagonal)
