    Well done, Judit :) She beat 11 male world champs. in rapid or classical chess: Magnus Carlsen, Anatoly Karpov, Garry Kasparov, Vladimir Kramnik, Boris Spassky, Vasily Smyslov, Veselin Topalov, Viswanathan Anand, Ruslan Ponomariov, Alexander Khalifman, and Rustam Kasimdzhanov. I think she considered a win v Anand her best.

    • @princegirish6092
      @princegirish6092 8 років тому +54

      yes in one of her books,she described Anand as the player from other planet who whipped the moves as natural as one breathes. She considers Anand win as best,but against Kasparov most satisfying.

      Nice copy/paste from wikipedia, she won against Carlsen once while he defeated her 11 times, similar against Kramnik. There are grandmasters who are pretty much unknown who defeated her.

    • @mizofan
      @mizofan 8 років тому +54

      She was still a superb player, one of the best in her prime, and broke down barriers. How often have women beaten male world #1 in sport?

      Other sports are mostly played on strength, so not many...
      But I remember a Chinese swimmer, she had a great result in few races that were match to male swimmers.

    • @mizofan
      @mizofan 8 років тому +6

      Didn't several record-breaking Chinese female athletes and swimmers dope? I don't know who you had in mind. Beryl Burton the British cyclist broke the men's 12 hour time trial record. Anyway, credit to Judit, and I hope more women challenge at the top in chess. It was Judit's book that got Mato Jelic, popular youtube instructor, back into chess. She played very interesting attacking chess.

    • @mizofan
      @mizofan 8 років тому +1

      +Up Whats Kasparov did not win the match, it was abandoned. His stamina saved the day after he was dominated early on and gradually he started to fight back and Karpov was exhausted. In all their world championship matches Kasparov only won 2 more games than Karpov. Maybe Capablanca was greatest anyway? But I think there is a general tendency to underestimate Karpov. Fischer and the 3 already mentioned may be prime candidates for all-time top 4. Morphy, Alekhine, Lasker, Carlsen, Tal, Botvinnik...hats off to such geniuses.

    • @mizofan
      @mizofan 8 років тому

      I have no real argument with a top 3 including Capablanca, Kasparov (my top 2) and Fischer, but Karpov is close and too often doesn't get considered mainly because Kasparov had a very slight edge. Politics in some countries has played a part in slight undervaluing of Karpov i think, whereas many US chess fans rank Fischer top. My point is that Karpov would have won the first match v Kasparov comfortably had it not turned into a very long one and stamina counted. Of course I agree the overall picture matters, so Fischer would not be my #1 since he left the scene too soon, but was brilliant at his peak (Carlsen is right in considering those points). Karpov had a superb record in tournaments. I don't disagree about Kasparov's achievements- which are undeniable. Anyway what do I know? Nothing worth knowing about chess, really, as I'm a thickie. Most of us have our preferences for different reasons. I like Capablanca.

    • @noranradd6091
      @noranradd6091 6 років тому

      Fischer #1, Kasparov #2, Karpov #3 ...Fischer I don't consider American. Just because he moved to the country, does not tie him to it. His father was a Hungarian physicist, his mother was a German medical student and he was born in Switzerland...The US was just the ground he lived on.

    Polgar is the best player of the world.
    Kasparove wins Polgar with a illegal move in 94 and in this video Polgar wins Kasparov

      Anatoly Karpov hizo mucho x el alejedrez. Prácticamente se ha dejado la vida misma en esto.
      Y hoy a los 70 años de edad, lo podemos ver con una lucidez encomiable y dando entrevistas.
      En toda la historia del ajedrez, dentro de los grandes, fue el mas grande.
      Y el mejor regalo que nos puede dar, es su obra y sus partidas.

    Personally, I totally agree. My preferred player is Tal by far. But he was not very consistent, probably because he didn't care xD. Objectively speaking Kasparov is best player ever.
