      If you are a chess player you will definitely understand why spassky walking out from the table all the time. He is doing these since then when he was world champion. Back when he is playing Tigran Petrosian. To boost his stamina in complicated mental exhausted and complicated variations. This spassky is not a world champion anymore half of a decade past of his prime . Of a universal player Chess Grandmaster a former world champion.

    Some of the vulgar comments here are really quite amazing. I am generally at war with political correctness but some of these comments are truly misogynous. Why diminish Judit Polgár's accomplishment in such a cheap way? She was a teenager whose talent was still developing and was not intimidated by a former world champ. Note also that Spassky was a product of the Soviet chess machine so Polgár had no special advantages deriving from her being her father's "project."

    I think Judit said an average good doctor would make "5x more." That seems an exaggeration, but it does appear most top players like Judit (most often Top50, peaking in Top10) make less than average doctors. Much less if you're thinking of surgeons when making the statement.
    Some estimates I found:
    US doctor 200K
    US surgeon 350-600K
    Top3 chessplayer 1+M
    Top10 player 200+K
    Top50 player 100+K
    Top100 player 50-70K
    So, while 110K for 1 match is impressive, I don't think its typical! :)

    how i wish that kasparov, anand, carlsen, polgar, were already chess grandmasters during the time when Tal, Fischer are on their prime. I like to see them play while both are on their prime. How i wish it could have happen to make an actual comparison on their chess ability. I will bet for Tal- my preferential bias as i like his being unconventional player.

    • @Averagebum21
      @Averagebum21 10 років тому +3

      That is an impossibility, simply because the reason you see Kasparov, Anand, and Carlsen at the level they were at, is that they are succeeding generations who have been able to study, improve on the technique of their predecessors, and use later technology.
      We can't assume that Kasparov, Anand, and Carlsen would be even close to their peak standards without the info and technology that Fischer, Spassky, and Tal didn't have. And we can't assume that Fischer, Tal, and Spassky would be able to use the new info and technology either.
      It could happen, for eg, that if Tal had a computer to analyze and prepare with, that it would destroy his creative genius.

      Morphy probably would not be a top 10 player if at his prime he were to time travel to current day. He was brilliant and transformative. He understood chess in a similar way that grandmasters do today, in a time when others did not. Because he was ahead of his time he was dominant in his games.

    Well, as long as we're making "would have" statements, chances are Bobby Fischer never would have agreed to play with her. As for JP, she has victories against top players of her generation, so, playing against an (out of any serious tournament practice) Bobby Fischer... I don't think the shot is off the board. In any case, I, um, *would have* loved to see a game between them.

      It is achieving nothing, showing nothing, and backed by elevator music. Don't waste words and time with this.

      No opportunity to see the moves on the board. Marketing exercise. Waste of 5 precious minutes of life watching this and listening to elevator music..

      @johntotten4872 8 років тому

      +clofleblob Its not so much IQ, it is the mental training of your brain kind of like facial recognition but of the chess board and plays that allow her to be so good. Look up her sister Susan Polgar and her channel, Good doc about her and her sisters learning the game. Mainly about Susan but they all learned basically the same way.

    To think Bobby Fischer was dating Judit when this match took place. Amazing.

    • @physmath9386
      @physmath9386 6 років тому +1

      He was dating Zita Rajcsányi not Judit. During this time he was living in Hungary and sometimes paid a visit to Polgar family to play with sisters.

    • @guidoheuts
      @guidoheuts 6 років тому

      Bobby Fisher had a crush on Judit's oldest sister Susan, however I don't know if the two were actally dating. Bobby was not to fond of Jews (mildly spoken), and the Polgar family were/are Jewish. Bobby lived with the Polgars for several months, wich led to some tension, especially between him and father László Polgar.

      No fantasies please. Fischer stayed at their summer house for a short while, with Torre and a bodyguard.
