  • If you need to know how to reset the maintenance required soon light on a 2008 to 2013 Toyota Highlander (2nd gen toyota highlander) then this video should help you.The light may also say MAINT REQD SOON or MAINT REQD NOW
    Maintenance required soon - Means you have driven your vehicle 4500 miles since the light was last reset and you have 500 miles until the light says on solid
    Maintenance required now - Means you have driven 5000 miles since the last time the light was reset and now the light will stay on until someone resets it.
    The light is supposed to be reset after an oil change has been performed on the vehicle but sometime if the light isn't on when the car Highlander goes into the shop the technician may not reset it so you get stuck with the light shortly after.
    Steps
    1. Turn the key to on position and make sure that Trip A is displayed. If no press the trip reset button until trip a is displayed.
    2. Turn key off
    3.Press and hold the ODO/Trip button.
    4. Keep holding the ODO/trip button and turn the key to On.
    5. Keep holding the ODO/Trip button until the Maint light and/or the Maint reset countdown is done flashing.
    6. Turn key off and you should be done.
    If this method did not work try again but in step 1 set the dash to ODOMETER.
    Thanks for checking out the video

    My car is 2013 model and had only 29, 300 on it. I was a little bit worry when Maintenance required popped up today. This is the easiest of all the methods posted in UA-cam and took less than a minute to reset. Thank you.

    Please update the Steps in your description.
    Step 1 reads, "make sure that ODOmeter is displayed.", and in the video you say to set it to Trip A.
    Otherwise, thank you for posting this. It is clear, concise, and effective.

    This was too easy. I’ve been waiting for my husband to do this for me but I get to do it myself now haha. Thanks!

    Confirmed working on 2009 Highlander base. No fancy in-dash display, but you'll get a series of five bars where the odometer is between the speedometer and tachometer. When the bars sequence down to zero, you're done.

    Worked perfectly on my 2010 Highlander! I could not make heads or tails out of the vehicle manual - I should have thought of this years ago and saved myself much frustration. Thank you.

    17mpg damn that’s crazy fuel economy. My girls car has 225k miles just did a Seafoam and marvel mystery oil treatment plus air filter change. Throttle body relearn producudure turned 17mpg into 22-24mpg average reliably

    Is this the same for the 2013 limited with push button igniton?

    • @ThePracticalMechanic
      @ThePracticalMechanic  4 роки тому +1

      I’m not sure. Most of the Toyota’s are very similar. Some require the dash to be on odometer and some require the dash to be on trip A to perform the reset. To turn the vehicle to on without actually starting up the engine or putting the hubris system into ready mode all you have to do is press the start button twice without pressing the brake pedal.

    Do you push break paddle while resetting clearing oil msg?

    • @ThePracticalMechanic
      @ThePracticalMechanic  3 роки тому +1

      You don’t need to press the brake pedal for this procedure. Without pressing the brake pedal you will be able to turn on the ignition without the car starting.

      LOL . They must drive better than me as well. I average 24MPG on my 07 hybrid highlander. In our customer delivery 2008 highlander we only get 16MPG. I think it's too many short trips.
