I feel sorry for kids, from cod4 to bo2 was an incredible time. Peak. But it also sucks if you want to play the older cods it's just the people who "never left" who know all the tricks and mechanics, makes having a casual game even harder
I started playing cod in 2009 MW2 Xbox 360 but I was playing cod 4 split screen at a friend’s house so I beat cod 4 campaign then MW2 I started playing that one because it was the newest cod those were good days we won’t ever get back
I’m so grateful I got to experience bo2 in its prime. I quit cod when ghosts came out. I remember being so good at the game that I stopped playing core tdm. My favorite thing to do towards the end of bo2 was ninja defusing on hardcore search & destroy. Or trolling for funny killcams. We will never have anything like it again. Too much corporate greed bs and literal ads in game. Once I seen in game transactions I knew it was over
BDobbinsFTW has been preaching this for years. Sadly the good days are over. Even if they remastered OG BO1 BO2, they would never be the same with modern SBMM.
Honestly yeah it does seem that way. I loved mw19 but every cod that’s come after has been nowhere near as good. I always thought they should have just stuck with that engine it was perfect
I started from black ops 1. I promise the only thing that is wrong is the movement. I mean we had dolphin dive but that's about it. All the sliding & flickering the camera a thousand spots at once is just unrealistic & unheard of back then.
I remember there was plenty of reverse boosting in Black ops two. SBMM I think it’s always been around, it’s just more of a priority than it used to be, and I think that’s where the issue is. The priority should be connection, then skill based matchmaking.
I had friends of all skill levels in my groups back in the day. I started out as like a .3 K/D player, and am now almost a 3 k/d player. If I started nowadays, I would still be a horrible player, but think I was better than I actually was. I'm no world class player, but I'm certainly above most of the community and would be what is considered a pub stomper now. I didn't mind being bad, but I wanted to improve. They take the option of wanting to develop your skillset away and that's just not cool. We used to party up with our good, and no-so-good friends and go hit the lobbies and everyone had a good time.
R.I.P. The Cod Golden Era,2007-2013 For me Ghosts was the last good passion project. As a matter of fact,Ghosts dlc was the best ever in any cod. Either way, same studio different developers who dont care and have to meet a deadline, plus everything is greed, money, season passes, bundles, and micro-transactions. I have all the Golden era games:')
its not just the games, the culture is different, the society is different, the world is different, the games were just a floor for how good and simple things used to be socially, people didnt take everything literally, and people just enjoyed a good laugh. Now days everyone thinks they know everything, and god forbid you dont have the same opinions or beliefs
The older cods are good games, but I dont have that same spark with it because back in the day, you could get girls on ur team, kids to grown men, everyone played, now its filled with man child neats who can't move on, thats what created its charm, was the diversity, everyone played it, and the culture of America was a lot more fun back then, uncensored society was a thrill. Netflix dates, xbox cam to cam moments, talking to girls, getting made fun of by older dudes, making friends across the country and sharing facebooks.
You made a lot of really solid points, I completely agree. I just popped in og MW3 yesterday on my day off. I had such a blast. I think its the casual / fairness aspect of COD that makes it the most enjoyable. Hell, i had headphones on just bumping some music and still did pretty good. Could you do that consistently on today’s cods? I doubt it. Cods today also just feel like they’re missing a soul. I’ve always preferred the look and graphics of the old era cods compared to the gray, bland 4k stuff, idk maybe I’m stuck in that time period
Honestly I think it’s as simple as not having our friends online every day anymore. We can get into the devs and the games needing an army of people just to create mediocre products, but we’re not playing anything without friends most of the time. At least not consistently.
Black Ops 3 and 4 were the last truly great MP experiences. Nowadays it's just chalked full of cheaters and virgin sweats that play like their life depends on it. I like to remind these kids in gamechat that UA-cam and Twitch will never work out so they should apply to McDonald's now.
alot of people don't point this out, but you did, i just hate not being able to use any gun and have fun with it, in recent games you gotta use meta guns to just have a little fun and then go back to sweaty lobbies
I'd played WAW and MW2 at friends' houses quite a bit before, but I first owned Black Ops 1. To this day BO1 is my favorite. I owned every COD after that until after Advanced Warfare. Glad I was there for the glory days. I enjoyed Blackout in BO4 and Warzone in MW 2019, but it never felt the same after Black Ops 2. With the way COD is now, I would beg to have a game like Ghosts.
if the different studios worked together instead of butting heads and built off of the previous engines then we would see real improvement. Especially for the cheating problem. We're just resetting the same problems every year.
@@Tropcd if we’re gonna base COD on Warzone then I don’t understand why this is done or let these different teams have cycles in doing what they want with Warzone. Warzone should be separate anyway. It’s starting to hold the franchise back
I think that modern COD games are designed to be a dopamine hit first and a video game second. You load up any of the last 7 COD games and there is a Shipment 24/7 playlist front and center. The whole game is just designed for you to load it up, spam A, get into a Shipment lobby, and start mindlessly playing the game in under 20 seconds. You'll probably completely ignore the objective, probably won't say a word to your team, and play hyper-aggressive with a class that is min/maxed to spew as many bullets as possible. Can we even call it a game at this point? It's more like a fidget toy the way 90% of the playerbase approaches the game. Just something to do with your hands. To be clear, there is nothing wrong with a game that allows you to play mindlessly. To some extent, Call of Duty (even in its prime) was always a mindless dopamine hit simulator, but it's been getting egregious the past 5 years. The guns have tracer rounds that make them look like Star Wars blasters. You can play as mf Snoop Dogg. Every time you get a kill you earn points, level up, unlock 6 new attachments, unlock a new emblem, and unlock 3 new camos. It just feels like the game is trying to appeal to the top 5% of shortest attention span humans. What percentage of the player base genuinely enjoys the game, and what percentage is playing out of habit? It feels to me like the game is just trying to coast off of people who aren't being intentional about how they spend their time and money. If you like the new CODs, more power to you, but no game since MW2019 has managed to keep me around longer than a month, if I even bought it in the first place.
Content creation killed games like CoD. Everyone’s tryna go pro, or hit a trick shot, pub stomp using VPN’s or 2 Boxxing, or do some voice trolling shit. A few out there ninja defuse but they ain’t the problem. People used to play the game to play, to have fun, to get away from the world. Fucking every lobby has an ulterior motive behind it, that it’s become unenjoyable. That’s why Black Ops 6 is losing players at a record rate. Games unplayable comp wise, shits filled with hackers and their response is slow as fuck. It’s basically unplayable pubs wise too unless you VPN or 2 Boxx, because every lobby is filled with sweats galore. They nerfed VPN’ing and 2 Boxxing which, however you may feel about that, is sad because that DIDNT EXIST in games like Black Ops 4 and before, if it was being done it was INSANELY rare. I haven’t played CoD since 2019, besides maybe some Warzone matches with my homies in 2020 during Covid. I haven’t bought CoD since Bo4 and for those of my homies who have I wasn’t missing anything. I played CoD this year and got back into things and camo grinded like everyone else, had a rough start and my KD sits at a 1.75 total, after the grind it’s about a 2.3-2.5. Mind you, if I play by myself I will get 5 teammates in hardpoint who all go 10-37 and have 15 seconds on the obj tops. I’ll have 30-45 seconds which I’d say isn’t really playing it but I’ll end the game going 40-11 or 55-22. Then I’ll lose the game to a party of 1.5 KD players who got worked but since they beat me and went 35-27 they shit talk and that’s all they care about. Like I’m tryna get streaks or maybe drop a nuke and I’ve got 20 which may be a lot to some may be little but like if your only obj is to win a pub with no regards to how well you do then you gotta be absolutely miserable. Like go play ranked if winning is all you care about, cause when you do lose a pub, not only did you get shit on the entire game, now the only reason you have fun is dead too. The state of the game is so much more volatile and unlike the golden days of cod, 2007-2013 (cod4-bo2), we ain’t kids anymore and have our own money and will go play something else we bought or go and play a F2P game whether it be League of Legends, Fortnite, Marvel Rivals, or Apex Legends. Having fun on those games may be 50/50. However, they don’t cost any money where Cods and Bo6 costed 60-70 bucks to give us an entertaining experience and fall short 80-90% of the time. I like many others unfortunately won’t buy another Cod again. The reason I quit the first time was different but the reason I’m quitting now will be the reason I and many others never return.
