Did they change those pieces? The picture on the Legos site looks like they used sidways 1/4 cylinders to create a smooth rounded transition at the end of the 2 raised hood strips. I think the hood on the site looks cleaner.
I don't care for the convertible but the G Wagon is something special. I did not expect all the pearl dark gray either, that makes me want it even more. This vehicle honestly feels like a MOC made in studio with no color limitation and I love it.
If you’re wondering why the engine cover opens like that it’s an Easter how Mercedes built the V8 engines for their sports cars. Each time they finish one designer put his signature on top.
Some people are hating on the SL, but I like the set. I just think the prices are way too steep nowadays, 20$ was ok, so you could pick them up for 15$. But 27$?! Mould King cars are way cheaper and have a display case!
In Poland it's like 30$ for one car and 55$ for this set. We're really close to Denmark so I think prices in the US are pretty good. Also in Poland we have lower salaries
@@elipse371Yeah, sure, “inflation”. I know you’re talking about this specific set, but Lego’s price increase cannot possibly be explained by inflation alone. Paramount examples would be 75365 Yavin 4 Rebel base containing a mere 1,067 pcs for a list price of 169.99 USD, or the 75380 Mos Espa Podrace Diorama with a piece count of 718 pcs and a list price of 79.99 USD. Not only are they ludicrously overpriced, but they also look shabby. The latter set’s price per piece may sound tolerable at 11 ct/piece but most of the pieces are tiny, so even the “as long as it’s under 10 ct/piece it’s a reasonable price” argument used by lego loyalists falls apart. The real reason for the price hike is Lego’s knowledge that their customers’ sensitivity to price increases is practically zero.
@@theresaurus9820 I agree that the sets mentioned look terrible and that they gouge for Lego Star Wars, but inflation in both cost and the amount of parts is still responsible for some of what’s been going on with Lego’s prices
YYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSS! I've been waiting for this! Not a Mercedes guy at all, but these cars look amazing, have great features, and are a killer value for 2024.
You have the spare wheel on the G63 positioned wrong (i did the same) it's meant to be moved up and to the side by a half stud each, positioning the 4 studs into the circles under the round piece
It would be cool if Speed Champions convertibles included extra bricks for you to have it covered if you want. Not saying it looks bad with the convertible roof lowered, but having the option out of the box would be nice.
Love how they did the 3rd brake light on the SL, but why not in red? And seeing that 360° view, looks like the grill pieces should be grey not black. Or even better, drum laquered ones.
@@liamgorman3947 no it’s clearly the 3rd brake light. That’s required by law and no other light is visible. But having just checked some hi-res pics, I just found out it actually uses a clear lense. It’s the drop shadow because of it being recessed that made it look red. So well done Lego.
I LOVE this set- fun to build- the G Wagon is HUGE. My only gripe is my G Wagon stickers where cut way off- made them hard to line up to look decent....
I'm actually a fan of how thick the box of the Mercedes-AMG G63 and SL63 (76924) is. When I saw that set at Walmart last night, I thought that its box was supposed to be thin, but I realized that it's thick!
I modded my sl 63 adding a Mansory style spoiler to the rear using two 2x1 curved studs with notch, a 1x2 tile, a 1x4 plate and a 1x2x1/2 inverted angle bracket replacing the clear 1x2 tile on the rear (all pieces black)
Right, and if I'm not mistaken it was the first SC model with a rear seat. Not fully functional yet (it may fit only lying minifigure) but a big difference to two-seated sportcars.
Correct me if I’m wrong , but I’m pretty sure at 2:28 , there was an Aston Martin 007 that also has reclining seat for the third seat in the back.. I have the set, and I think it also has it, but yeah ! nice video. Also, at 9:16, that wasn’t the first time we saw the angled slopes in black. The McLaren f1 set had those , just a correction !
Good catches! DB5 did have reclining seats. The McLaren F1 had those angled slopes in black, but were printed. I think the G Wagon may be the first appearance in black without any printing. I like the fact that new pieces are created each year for the theme.
Best early review for this set! Thanks a lot! P.S. When I saw first images of 2024 second wave I was very disappointed. But after a few videos I changed my mind and decided to buy Lambo Vision and Mercedes set.
It would be awesome to have the removal roof option, but with the curved windshield it would be tough to pull off. Probably would need to use a different windshield. May try though…
Got to say you've convinced me not to get that set. I really only wanted the G-Wagon and it honestly doesn't look that good to me. Not for the price tag anyway. Really wish they'd sold them as separate cars! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I need a few of the G wagons for my LEGO city Russian Gangsters and drug dealers 😂. Seriously would look good with some bad guys driving it and some superhero’s trying to stop them.
In all honesty (and I love this theme) these are dreadful representations. The G Wagon is so bad. Looks like a 2 door when it’s meant to be 4 clearly. Windshield on the SL also terrible.
All Mercedes have 2 or 3 emblems on the front end…so that one on the hood that you don’t like, are accurate to the real cars. They don’t make sense, from Mercedes…seems very superficial to me, but again, true to accurate.
Btw the 1x1 rounded pieces on the yellow one’s hood are the wrong way
Thanks for letting me know! If there is an asymmetrical rounded piece, I always position it incorrectly!
Did they change those pieces? The picture on the Legos site looks like they used sidways 1/4 cylinders to create a smooth rounded transition at the end of the 2 raised hood strips. I think the hood on the site looks cleaner.

Ah, thanks for the info!
Cool!
2:27 Not sure but if I remember correctly, the Aston Martin DB5(James Bond) also had reclining front seats.
You are indeed correct, I own that set and it dies, indeed have them.
The G Wagon felt almost like a miniature Icons vehicle, especially the way the chassis was put together. Really nice build.
I cant wait to get it. Thanks for the view.
Man, the Lego and Mercedes prices match up. Overpriced. But mazing
If you really want to get it, Walmart sells it early. I got mine on the 21st from Walmart, it said it was a Walmart exclusive.
The ending of the video was awesome!!!
The sticker sheets were a relief but the side view mirrors on the SL need a 1X1 tile. Thanks for the comparison to the Bronco!
I think it was the Lambo SUV the Urus.
the end of the video with the cars posing, the music, incredible editing and it makes you want. Epic
Thanks! 😊
Finally! The very first Lego Speed Champions set with opening hoods!

$27 makes more sense when you factor in the steady growth in both the amount of parts used and the rate of inflation over the years

I like how the G Wagon is heavier than the Convertible because then the convertible “drives” faster, more like real life!
The reclining seats aren't new as they came on the 007 aston Martin db5

Weren't there reclining seats in the Aston Martin DB5?
That’s right! Your memory is better than mine! Funny thing is that I had the DB5 sitting up on the shelf above me when I made that comment. 🤪

Great review. I’m not a collector of the theme, but this is a must buy at $45.
i knew the engine cover could be opened I saw it in the Lego websites photos that they had engine stickers
what wooden thing are you using to hold the instructions, I love it!
It’s a wooden table easel that I found on Amazon.com. 😊
It’s more accurate if you apply the front hood emblem sticker.

Buying it as soon as it comes to my country.
I just saw this and instantly want it
How did you get this set early? Are you part of lan Or do some stores have these early?
One of the Walmart’s near me had it. I haven’t applied for LAN, but maybe someday.
because in Brazil it is so expensive and it takes so long to get here!! I'm so excited to have it
Not gonna lie, the sl 63 is really growing on me. I didn't lile it at first, but i think it would look spot on with some hood mods.
I'm in love with the Mercedes one cause it look so good and the fact that is only 45 dollars is a bless for me in my country

It would be awesome to have the removal roof option, but with the curved windshield it would be tough to pull off. Probably would need to use a different windshield. May try though…
When will it come out ?
June 1st at LEGO store.
I think the logo on the rear of the roadster is too high up. They should’ve changed it.
The AMG should come with a small child under the front bumper.
*That G-Wagon is so low to the ground it's ridiculous.*
*It's as low as the yellow car. No part of the car should be lower than the wheel axle.*
it’s a lego set bud
