Cayde 6 a man,a warrior,a friend, a brother,the Ace in the deck.A man I would follow to the end of time.But all good things come to an end see you soon brother
Cayde-6 was the picture perfect definition of the "comedic relief who's going through some shit" character type. To start, Cayde witnessed and felt the darkness and was probably one of the few to tell the tale. His introduction to the vanguard wasn't out of some rise to fame or glory, but a dare he lost to an old friend that he kept a promise to. It is a Hunters nature to be free, yet Cayde was shackled to the tower. Now we get to D1, we don't see or hear much from him until Taken King. Here we find out about his past as an Exo and his fragmented memory. Now again, at the tower he plays off as a funny high spirited guy but then he hides his past in caches deep in the cosmodrome. It's as if he doesn't want the people around him to know the pain and suffering he goes through, as if he feels he needs to be happy and heroic as he is the Hunter Vanguard. In comes Destiny 2 and right off the bat, we get more funny Cayde and his Colonel during the Red War. While on Nessus, when we find him tinkering with that Vex teleporter he loses it when we mention Zavala needed him. He looked up to Zavala and Ikora. So hearing that his idol needed him meant he acknowledged his capabilites finally, and that meant everything to Cayde. Then we have Forsaken, that entire beginning part of the campaign. Free spirited, the man free falls dozens if not hundreds of floors to his death while riding falling debris. Not a care in the world. During the whole confrontation he dances with his shots, a true master of the craft. When the time comes to stare death in the eye, he continues his comedic ways and delivers that "How's your sister line". Cayde wasn't afraid of death, I believe he welcomed it. I don't think he SEARCHED for it, but he sure did accept it. Even when ghost-less, he pushed through and raised his Ace of Spades and tributed to his Son. "I'm coming home Ace". He knew full well his fate, and looked death in the eye. Caydes voice recordings left us with more insight to Cayde as a character. Even to go as far as being ok with the possibility we were the ones who put him under. He was a kind and broken soul, masked by laughter and jokes. Cayde always looked out for the better of others, even when Zavala or Ikora thought he was reckless. If it wasn't for Cayde we may have never got on the dreadnought, if it wasn't for Cayde we may not have won the red war, if it wasn't for Cayde we probably wouldn't have found out about Uldren in time. Cayde made Destiny for a lot of us, and that's proof in the drop of the player base after Forsaken. Cayde was relatable to many of us. Cayde was more than a character, he was our friend. Thank you Cayde for being my friend for so many years. I'll see you soon buddy.
Ikora's words never fail to get to me in this. She's usually so calm and composed. To see her suggest something so violent in such a hateful tone is heartbreaking... not that I disagree with her

Well the dead have no need for possessions but as we have seen Uldren has arisen as a guardian, and will mostlikely assume the hunter Vanguard position by Cayde's dare and be once a gain qualified to own Ace... Well if I do have to relinquish Ace to him I am going to smile when I also dump Cayde's crushing debt to Uldren's arms...

Cayde-6 is one of those characters who was really a lonely guy. He never knew how much he meant to Zavala and Ikora until it was too late. It's sad.
