The fact was that MANY engineers were speaking of this new concept in press and society, but Porsche got the money to execute this common idea of engineering Europe.
Another fact is that the Beetle chassis construction was patented by Tatra, and was produced since the early 20's
Hans Ledwinka laid the foundation for the concept, but in the 30's it was a commonly discussed idea among engineering Europe. They couldnt do much because they were restricted by the Tatra patents, but Hitler didnt care

Here's a major problem with this claim Gantz came up with a tiny, short, mid-engine, water cooled, extremely large wheeled car with a different style of chassis that looks nothing like a Volkswagen Beetle. Every single one of his cars look nothing like a Volkswagen Beetle.
What Ferdinand Porsche did is what every single automotive maker has ever done they looked at other designs and went oh wow how can I take that and improve it and that's exactly what happened. Ferdinand came up with a better chassis a better engine and a better design.
For anyone to sit there and say that the beetle was invented by Joseph Gantz is ludicrous because nothing against ever did saw fruition in the Beetle.

Fascinating, didn't know about this at all. Thanks for posting it.
I wonder, in the future, if Toyota Corp will be exposed as having stolen almost every single design element from Mercedes Benz? The LS400, orignal flagship of the new Lexus brand, looks almost identical to the current large Mercedes of it's time. Talk about shameless rip-offs!

Porsche also stole from the earlier rear-engined aerodynamic designs of the Ledwinkas in nearby Czechoslovakia. They conceived and built big luxury Tatras with those features in the 1930s and later the smaller VW sized Tatra-97. All of them predated the final VW design and all of them were produiced and sold to the public before WWII.

@TheStrategist01 Like there is something to steal from french... even if you steal somehing there you have to completely overhaul it first to improve it
