    I actually respect the BMW leather... it is much firmer to the touch since it has to support for the spirited driving you'll be doing, also long term it hold up extremely well. My 2011 335 leather still looks new, whereas some more comfortable/supple leathers from the likes of MB and Lexus tends to look like old catcher's mitts after a few years

    I own the 2011 - 50i Xdrive 4.4l Bi-Turbo and I absolutely love it .. You really can't go wrong when you have a very roomy SUV that's very fast and beat most cars on the highway and run mid 13's in the quarter mile (I ran 13.6 in mine) -- This 2016 model I'm sure runs low 13's or maybe even high 12's .. I have 400hp and due to the fact the F15 X5 has stock 54 more HP at the same weight.. I am sure it kicks ass on the highway. Thanks Nick for the great video!

    one of the best SUVs on the road..clearly he just likes sports cars...the "I am unimpressed" look is written all over is face...I think he judges cars by if they are supremely fast.

    Nick, I like how you are adding notes boxes to the video when you are talking about something that cost extra. Good things. Just a suggestion, when you have plenty of time for a review,(not when you are in a rush), can you somehow do a "walkaround" with the drone? Basically just use the drone more haha, the results are cool, like that Jaguar video from a few month ago.

  • @11ttundra
    @11ttundra 9 років тому +2

    So, that's an X5 50i M-Sport...this is important to note because it actually has 480hp and does 0-60 only 1-2 tenths of a second slower than your M4 (4.3 vs 4.1). I think the sensation of aggressive acceleration is lost due to ride height, AWD drive train, and size of the vehicle. You say the acceleration is decent, but next to your M4, it is nearly identical. I thinks it's hilarious that you talk about the "leatherette" feel of the console while you touched it with gloves on. The irony is that the "5 series" is actually recognized by the world as a true luxury vehicle based on quality of materials and available options and the 3/4 series are not. I would put the facts out prior to your opinion...there is a large contrast between the two. I did however enjoy ALL of your M4 videos and look forward to seeing more.

    Someone call Gorilla Protective Services, poor William riding on interstate without his seat belt! :) Great video as always Nick. I had a 2014 X3 35i w/a Dinan tune. It really pulled hard, but wasn't great in the corners. Sounds like I should have gone w/the adaptive suspension option. I agree w/the quality (or lack thereof) of the standard BMW leather and the Sansatec I had in the X3 wasn't also very good for a fake leather either, our VW's leatherette is much nicer.

    Why launch control in an SUV? Just because?

    • @adpmol
      @adpmol 9 років тому +2

      +T-WRX its built in the ZF Gearbox and can be specced when you add the SPORT automatic gearbox.
      Funny enough its the same gearbox : ZF8
      But with the sport you get paddles and quicker gearchanges (different map) also LC.
      U can actually code the sport auto gearbox map and LC in a standard version (but you dont have the paddles.)

    There has got to be something wrong with that X5 because at 3.5k on the highway should not have as much lag as you experienced. My 2014 X5 50i has had a TON of electrical gremlins but it still hauls ass. There is a bulletin for the DME on the X5 50i, has this car had it done?

    The front spoils everything. They put fake mesh grilles in that front bumper and there's nothing wrong with that, but I immediately noticed how on left side the holes in the mesh are "closed" and on the right side, the mesh is half opened (with holes in it). First of all, closed meshes look horrible, but why on earth did they spoil even the symmetry of the front end, by not doing the same design on both left and right grilles in the bumper? To me that just looks horrible. So horrible in fact, that I'd change the bumper to something else, straight away.

    I prefer the M-sport package on pretty much all BMW's with the exception of the X5. I really don't like how they implemented the M-sport trim with this car, I much more prefer the xLIne. And I totally agree with you about the interior leather. I think not only does it look cheap but it also feels cheap. I had an X5 loaner last year and I was not impressed by that grainy leather as well. It's really underwhelming. I would absolutely upgrade to the Nappa leather, it's a night and day difference!

    Prob a stupid question, but I only know BMW's as 328, 525, X5 etc. I always hear people about "E-model" this and "E-model that"... Is there a site, or can someone point me to the right place, where I can find which BMW is named by their E-numbers, instead of the regular model name such as a 328i etc? (I just would like to know what model BMW someone is talking about when they say: Oh my "E91" or "E36", etc is doing so and so... ) Just trying to learn more about my 2011 X5 -xDrive 50i (what E-number is that btw?), and BMW in general. Thanks so much!

    Ever occur to you that in the back seat you're sitting on 3/4" of heavy wool coat, bolt-upright,and have your hair teased up? It has plenty of head room. "I wouldn't be comfortable". Ever read "the princess and the pea"? Alex on Autos, also 6" tall, calls it "extraordinarily generous" head room. He holds an entire hand over his head when showing the headroom.
