Great idea for a horror game monster:
someone all stuck in some alien monster robot thing... and the noise they make should just be literal screaming, not evil screaming, but just the person stuck screaming in pain/horror!
Outlast: Basically the whole game
And Outlast 1 wasn't even scary. It was way too predictable. "Do a task", better check for the locker I have to hide in first. Wasn't scary. BUT The Whistleblower DLC....jesus fuck. That's a new level of scary for me.

The Tickle Pickle True man, my Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2 save got corrupted, haven't been able to play it since.
That happened to me 1/2 through Final Fantasy 7. I tried loading my game...save file corrupted... Yet back in the day, of memory cards, losing it or getting it taken from you was almost as bad.
I accidentally reset my ps4 to find out that all data from my games were gone

Fatal Frame 3 doesn't get enough love. It was so atmospheric and well-designed, and it had a ton of great shocks and unsettling moments.

Just don't. believe me, when I typed the comment I sort of felt like a hypocrite, and seeing others' comments they felt similarly and I wasn't going to say anything..but them saying how it's best to watch this to scare yourself with lights off and sound blasting, kinda ruined the point. a brief intro to why it was scary, rather than a play by play on exactly when it would happen and what, would support their comment. really good list, just kinda sucked the fun out of it, their intention was good.

PT was the playable teaser for what was going to be Silent Hills, starring Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead. That short demo was the scariest gaming experience of my life. Sadly, the game got cancelled. Fortunately for us, someone decided to take what they were doing and make a new game anyway that's very similar. Not much to it yet, but so far, it looks like it's going to be great. Watch the play through of Allison Road. Wide screen, of course...in the dark. :)

And the day I did play the Rebirth version, I was like "meh! I already know they are coming. They can't scare me this time".
Then I walk trought that room ready.... and nothing happens.

Minutes later, I pass by that room again and *CRASH!!! "SONOFABITCH!!!"* (that was actually correct, becuase they were dogs).
Oh, also the first monster in *Silent Hill* that crawl out from under the parked car.

The kitchen jumpscare in outlast was the worst I've ever seen (in a good way), literally almost shit myself
Bioshock, in a room with fog, you can hear steps around you but couldn't see anything. When you pick up a speed boost potion(If I remember it right) and turn around, a speed boosted splicer is right at your face!! That scared the shit out of me.
Or when you first pick up the shotgun. That is the most terrifying moment I've ever played in a game.
Or with any of the Bioshock games when you first inject a plasmid into your arm?
Boy of Silence moment in Bioshock Infinite. That was nice x)

i love that Alma is part of this compilation.. i just started talking to keep my fear in check, and was usually more scared of literally anything else. alma was actually the calming part of the game to me. not sure why, as any scare in a game sets me off, almost tossing my mouse across the room.
every moment in dead space from the music to the unexpected necromorph appearances... it's a downright heartracing game for it's time

ff3 is a good game.
Mmm I don't think it does. They are very different, very very different. The grudge is more of a "I follow you ghost around your home, and there is no way to kill me." In fatal Frame it usually takes place in old houses where a lot of people died after a failure of some type of ritual (usually the person sacrificed is the antagonist). Also the way they fight ghosts is pretty separate, you use a camera to kill them. I think that if fatal Frame took anything from the grudge it would only be the noise some ghosts make, but in Japan most creators make ghosts sound like that (which was originally in the Grudge).
Bioshock 1 made me jump, the first time in that garden section, when you look at a mask on the table he suddenly stands behind you. Such a perfect moment. Its been years ago but ill never forget it
Ive played the majority of these games and as far as scary goes, Outlast is probably the best. The creepy ambiance in addition to 247 jumpscares, its fucking awesome haha

there's a reason why the most kinda horror-y (?) games I've played have been the soulsborne series (i guess?) and bioshock. shit like that gives me too much anxiety, can't deal with enemies that cant be killed and just jump out and chase you. i tried to play dead space and noped right the fuck after the first gangly baraka-looking asshole showed up. i'm too jumpy and neurotic for horror games, fuckin half life was a chore to get through for me

Dude, I was in college. Me and a roommate played it, and when he got to that part, I jumped. Easily the only ghost in the game I found threatening, all because it was a dark, cramped space, and she was WAY too fast. No running from that.

The moment you pick the Freezer Key Card from the Autopsy room in Resident Evil 4 and the Regenerador nearby breaks the door and slowly goes towards you is one of the scariest moments

Instead of explaining the jump scares before they happen, why not explain WHY you gave them away first? This video would've been way better if you would've just named the game, then played the scene and let us decide for ourselves.
Also, if these were meant to be in order by scare factor, a few were mixed up, and you also left out some great ones from a few other games.
