Don't know why you set it to scan analogue as that went off 7 years ago lol. You can't expect any UHF antenna to work in the position it was though

I did actually try a similar setup before with an aerial and a coat hanger and managed to pick up a lot of channels, so it can work it some conditions.
The analogue was a bit of a mistake, but you never know what someone might be transmitting

Actually the last time checked at FCC Web Site there are still a few analog Low Power Tv stations still transmitting.
As an example and not only example of Analog VHF Low Band Channels 2 thru 6.
Analog channel 6 audio signal is very close to the FM radio band and can be received by many FM radios and some are transmitting video stills pictures or some type of informational video.
And a Few Digital TV Stations are going or have gone to the VHF Low Band Channels 2 thru 6.
And some are Hi Profile Stations.
And Yes I know that some humans thumb their nose and make snide remarks about the VHF Low Band. However ATSC 3.0 is coming and will make a big improvement of the VHF Low Band.

Thanks for the feedback. Very interesting that the older tech seems to be making a small resurgence

@@mikesunboxing I loved analogue. Use to often get many of the ITV regions Granada Tyne Tess etc during atmospheric 'tropo conditions before digital

I have a much smaller flat panel antenna (50p from charity shop and missing it's base), in a upstairs room with a window facing the right way, works brilliantly.
There are two kinds of flat antenna, the broadside style is either a loop, stacked loop or stacked bowtie - and if your transmitter is vertically polarized, you'd need to turn it so the connection point is at the side.
The other type which would be laid flat, has log periodic elements and would be directional pointing away from the connection point

Wow thanks for the info! Maybe I should have kept it to try those suggestions

"Put it in a place where they might get a signal” actually made me laugh out loud. What a brilliant comment. As a semi professional microwave engineer i am not at all surprised that it did not work. The very specification of "60 miles” means nothing technically. Aerials are specified in terms of gain, or beam width or directivity. If that device can be mounted vertically on a wall or horizontally on a table then it is pretty much omnidirectional with a very low gain. That implies that it’s has virtually no directivity and so will be subject to interference from any RF signal in the vicinity. The amplifier is supposed to compensate and give an improved signal to noise ratio than the receiver in your telly but does it? It depends on the telly. Pleased try a coat hanger - it might be better. Mounting it on a window will of course reduce the losses through walls, which would be an improvement. It would be interesting to see the test results from the manufacturer but i expect those are unattainable - a challenge for you Mike!
A nice presentation in your lovely easy going manner. Well done for trying out the cheap as chips antenna. Hopefully a useful lesson for many.

Thanks Charles! It was a tongue in cheek review really and a total waste of money but hopefully I can save someone else the pain of expectations and deep sorrow. Time to try the coat hanger method

I live in a pretty rubbish area to be fair and the signal even with a reasonable roof top aerial is sometimes a bit hit and miss, But i was sucked in to the market hype! Damn you Amazon !

I can't imagine that any indoor tv aerial will work at 25 miles. Those things are ok within 5 miles with line of sight of a main tv transmitter.

i did like to play it back then, but never really worked out the game mechanics and suit upgrades etc. 76 was good but i got bored after seemingly reaching a point that made no sense an i couldn't progress further
