That bowl that is your Granny 's.. I get it. My cornbread bowl is the ONLY one I can make good cornbread out of. Had it since I was 20. 63 now and still blasting out bomb co'n bread🤩. By the way, that bowl is Texas melanware (sp?) and is highly collected without utensil marks. I use wooden spoons for mine but truly matters not.
I really enjoyed watching and listening to her making chicken and dumplings. Very comforting. I was raised up under the watchful eye and love if women like her. I'm very thankful.
As soon as I saw that corn and fried okra with the dumplings I said "MMMM he gonna be eating good today!" My grandmother makes very similar dumplings, just a bit bigger and I LOVE them. My favorite comfort food of all time. I'm gonna need to have her teach me how she makes them, though I imagine it's pretty similar to this. Thank you for the video!

Exactly what I’m gonna do, eyeball it. Nobody uses eggs, wondering why. I want to use egg, bacon fat, maybe half ‘n half for the liquid and knead to make them more chewy. Love playing with dough! Thank you and bless you!

Chicken and dumplings is my favorite dish my mom made it I miss her so much I always love to watch her in the kitchen cooking cuz I would learn from the best
Reminds me of my mother mother (my grandma) of course my mom, my sweet mother-in-law and now myself. I see many jugs, bowls, Tupperware etc that I now have in my kitchen. I absolutely love what appears to be your heart shaped pot. And I cannot wait to try your dumplings yummy. Plus you seem as sweet as can be! God bless you dear. And what a lucky husband you have. ❤️🙏

You're my kind of chef, Rita! No frills or fuss, the what you see is what you get kind of friend. I'm gonna try to make those dumplin`s this weekend. Wish me luck!
My Mammaw used to make homemade chicken and dumplings. I remember being a little girl and sneaking to the table to snatch a few of the dumplings before they were cooked. She passed last fall, and I never had the chance to learn from her once I was old enough, due to her illness leaving her unable to physically do much. I was nervous to watch this video because I figured it would bring up a lot of emotion, and I was right.. but it’s such a good feeling. You’ve brought back a little feeling of my Mammaw to me. Thank you so much for sharing this. I’d give you a hug if I could.
I miss my mamaw so much.. she pretty much raised me and she passed away in 1999 when I was 21.. it rocked my world and I still have dreams about her.. im absolutely convinced that she visits me in my dreams. But, this lady makes them just like my mamaw used to make them and i'm happy that I found this video. I was trying to find someone making them like my mamaw used to make them so I could give it a shot. One thing i'm wondering about is how much broth your supposed to use
I was raised on a farm and grew up on all homemade cooking and baking. I love this lady. My grammy Faye taught me how to make pies, bread, best cooks are the people back in the day. 😍 I love the old fashioned life style. Grew up packed water from spring house, for everything. Good best life ever. I miss my childhood days. Cook stove, furnace. Yep I love this lady. Reminds me of ny grammy. 😍 She is a blessing. May the Lord bless you always. ❤❤
My husband’s family is from DE and they do the same kind of “dumplins”. Like slick noodles as you mentioned. They don’t add eggs and many don’t use baking powder either. Loved watching you bang that all out f-a-s-t! Would love to be right in your kitchen to learn from you. Love that bowl!
This is how I make my chicken and dumplings, but like a couple of ya'll, I do not add eggs or the baking powder and I let my broth cool some before I roll them out. Can someone please tell me the purpose of adding the eggs and baking soda? I may have to try it! But you know when you've been cooking for 45+ yrs, it's hard to change- "If it ain't broke, you don't fix it!" I LOVE her style though, comfortable in her own kitchen, Mrs. Rita, you are Beautiful just as you are!! Best of Health and Happiness to you and your husband/family💕 #borncountrystillcountryloves1husb♡4~
I'm from Maryland Delaware line, mom made them without the egg and baking powder. Yup they are thin slippery dumplings. I ain't got it quite right yet but will. Gonna try this lady's recipe to see how they turn out.
@@margaretstokely9016in Canada too... well, my part of it anyways. I've always preferred sliders to those fluffy, sometimes undercooked dumplings lol. I went looking on UA-cam for chicken and sliders and all I got was mini chicken sandwiches lol. Modern technology and people sheesh! 😂
First time I've seen your video and I just love you. You're a wonderful ol'country gal! I wish we were neighbors! I'm not a great cook, but learned everything from my great- grandma and she was incredible. Cook & ate country and lived to be a great life of 103! You keep on kicking & cooking & I'll be watching for your videos. God Bless you sweet lady😇
Such a sweet lady you always see in tv movies, but not in real life. With the world going to sh*t, I wish there were more of this. Can't wait to try this recipe & thanks for sharing.
My husband likes these too. My mother in-law taught me a lot but it was 40 years ago when she made them for me to watch. She’s 91 now and can’t cook. I miss it and she does. Thank you so much. He doesn’t like my fluffy dumplings but he always ate them. Trying these now.
Homemade Chicken and Dumplings was the first thing my Gramama taught me how to cook down home in Charleston, S.C. You sounded like her too ❤️ Thanks for the memories and for reminding me of this dish! I think I'm gunna make it this week. LORD GOD bless you & your family Miss Rita 😊
Yes! My Mawmaw, Granny, and Mama all made dumpins like this: thin and squared, chewy and slick. I haven't seen a recipe that makes them the way they did until now. Thank you! Going to make some chicken n dumplins soon, and enjoy the childhood memories!
These look just like my mother’s dumplings. Have been looking for a recipe like this. I remember that she used chicken broth and not milk in her dumplings. Thank you I will have to make these.
Wow! There is so many different ways to make dumplings! Some are roundish and some are noodle type! My great Grandma made them with a lil lard ( depression days) flour, salt and water. So many different ways- made with love- and all delicious I bet!!
Ms Rita you are just as down to Earth on here as you are on Facebook. I only found out about your you tube channel tonight after I had gone to bed. I got out of bed and now at 2:25 a.m. I have already watched a bunch of your videos. I feel like I am right there in the kitchen with you and I do believe I will be making my honey a pot of chicken and dumplins tomorrow!
Your dumplings really look good. Kids coming home school would love to dive into that meal. I will try your recipe, I usually make the other, but yours looks delicious. Thank you, Rita.
Perfect dumplings! I love the flat chewy dumplings like my granny and my mom used to make and this is exactly how they made them except they used broth and milk in the dumpling dough. So glad I found Ms. Rita - she makes me think of my childhood home.
I make mine the same way, but I do roll my dough out in advance and allow to air dry before adding to my broth, and I use warm broth but I do add a large can of Cream of chicken once I have my both for the dumplings....makes it so creamy good. I roll mine really thin also. love yours also, with a thin broth. Thanks for sharing.
I love your heart-shaped cooking pot! That's the way my granny showed me how to make dumplings. Thanks for helping me remember how much I love and miss her! God Bless!
I do not have a heart shaped pan...it has a pour spouts on each side and someone thought it looked heart shaped...but its not. I cook from the heart...but not in a heart shaped pot. Sorry to disappoint yall.
I can tell you enjoy cooking for your family. You remind me of when I was a little girl watching my grandmothers cooking. I loved this video. May the Lord bless you and your family!!!
Wonderful looking dumplings by a wonderful lady. They are the same way i learned from my mama. Dumplings with a side of fried okra and corn on the cob. Who would not enjoy that!
Rita, I love your style! You get the job done without a lot of fancy. The dumplings you make are what we call "slickers" back here in the mountains, and a lot of folks make them that way. I prefer my dumplings to be egg-sized and fluffy in the middle, but I've been known to enjoy a plate full of slickers every now and then. Thanks for making the video!
She’s a riot got the job done!! She makes it look so simple I’ve always tried to make dumplings and they fell apart I’m gonna try these I think the secret is not to stir to often😂😂😂I thoroughly enjoyed this video!!!
I can hear her talk all day..she is comforting, easy to follow and love, love, love her accent, in the way she enunciates her words. She reminds me of a silver screen classic actress, but I can't put my finger on who!?☺Rita made dumplings easy and swift....thank you for sharing.
I enjoyed watching! Reminds me of my mom and her people. Just ole country Cooks! We make dumplings the way you do... Use chicken broth instead of milk, but, I'd say we use a little more baking powder, and I sprinkle a lot of the extra flour on top of my dumplings, and I push the dumplings down instead of stir, and that broth thickens with that sprinkling of flour.
Videos like these are so much more valuable because rather than see a perfect recipe from start to finish, you get to see how to flow through the slight imperfections that arise. The heart shaped pot seals the deal subbed!
Thank you so much for teaching me to do this how my grandmother used to do. Great simple and to the point video! Hope you and your family are well and healthy, God Bless!
💖This video touched my heart. My Grandma Pearl used to make her chicken and dumplings exactly like this. I love chicken and dumplings. Thank you so much for sharing. You made my day.🤗

I would love to have a video of my mamaw making dumplings (or anything else). This one is the next best thing. Been making dumplings myself for years for my hubby-he likes them very thin and not poofy so I don’t use eggs or powder but otherwise this video is exactly how my mamaw did it. Watching her confidence in the kitchen brought back memories of watching my mamaw. Thank you!
Granny, you don’t need a stylist, you look great!

My grandmother taught me to air dry them if I wanted the chewy ones too. Blessings!
Yes, we at home made ours to air dry too. I also make mine like this.
I thought that 💗
But you add the most important ingredient. LOVE
Cooking with love is the best.
You remind me so much of my grandma it brought tears to my eyes and a smile on my face when i watched this video she learned me how to cook
I thought it was heart shaped also
You take the nervousness out of trying. Make it look so relaxing. Thank you for the video.
Country cookin ...what we enjoy.
You commented on my cornbread video today. Thank you for still being around for my silly videos.
Thank you so much Mrs Rita for reminding me of cooking with my Grandma! GBY
From an old Texas boy, "Just the way I like 'em!"
Great channel, love your style
Videos like these are so much more valuable because rather than see a perfect recipe from start to finish, you get to see how to flow through the slight imperfections that arise. The heart shaped pot seals the deal subbed!
You are just wonderful! Country gals are the best!
Best dumpling recipe I've tried. Took me back to my childhood to my grandma's house!
I’m so glad I found your channel….. That’s how we made them growing up. It looks delicious ❤
You made my day.🤗
We have that same bowl and have had it for years. Looks delicious. Blessings ❤️
My mama has one too!
Rita, you are absolutely precious! I’m born and raised in chattanooga tennessee. I can tell that you are a good ol’ country gal. May God bless you and your family.
God Bless you and yours. My mother and grandmother cooked just like you do. Special memories of the heart.
I love country cooks reminds me of my grandma bless her heart and soul 💖 and my mom.
Thank you!
