Almost perfect, with two Mr.Monk-traps built in :D ...I would recommend getting rid of the metal flakes produced by drilling before closing the box ... and the left over nut was really teasing me to recheck the whole video at what time it appeared on the desk :D
Dude thank you so much for making this! I’ve had my blue box for almost ten years but was always too afraid to do this mod because I’m such a visual person and have little experience with this sort of thing. But this really makes me feel like I can do it now!
This is *awesome* I'm hopelessly uncoordinated and have essential tremors and even I could do this... maybe, I might need someone else to solder for me. I can't really hold an iron steady. I don't want to practice on a Blue Box tho. EDIT: Ok upon closer examination I could not do this but it's still awesome.
I shake pretty bad too, but I use a big vitamin bottle to rest my wrist on (on the hand/arm I solder with). It works great! You can use anything tall enough that is small enough to have on your soldering space.
@@PoisonNoises The whole episode and you surprising him was so sweet. The energy was so good and i bought the pedal instantly. Sucks he is leaving but he had a real good last day i think.
I just got a brand new one. have you done this? Because I may do it. I know if I put the switch in, I'll never turn it off. It makes sense, you just cut off that leg from the capacitor.? no more complete circuit and it will sound like that? that's awesome
@@PoisonNoises Awesome. I build pedals myself and had a friend with a blue box asking about why the volume drops so much... I cane to your video to find out why. Most pedal mods I do are just as you did. I'll keep the circuit original but add a "mod" switch to have a stock and mod setting... sometimes two, like the Morning Glory clone where I added a high gain mod and tweaked the "low cut" option
Tea that was the problem with 5he blue box the volume went down when you activated it that’s why i got rid of mine even putting a pot would be a good idea as a volume knob right?

MXR Distortion+ resissue mods! I love the old ones but the newer ones just aren't the same
@@PoisonNoises A DS-1 mod would be a very fun project to do!
If I really only wanted the modded sound i could just remove the one leg of the capacitor and its done correct?
Correct!

IDK though. it is brand new.... lol
I've seen some suggest just removing the C11 altogether to get rid of the pedals volume loss issue. Is that an option as well?
Yup. You do not need the switch if you just want to make the mod permanent.

So could I just take some small snip’s or something and cut it out ?
