I am convinced Orylan needs psychological help. Not only is she letting a single abusive relationship continue to dictate her entire life (that's not healing, babes) but she has been repeatedly groomed and abused since she was a child. Her parents had to be neglectful to not realize what was happening to their child and she is continuing to punish herself with the same abuse she went through even if she doesn't realize it or do it intentionally.
Edit : OH, her mom is a long time addict. I wouldn't be surprised if she sold her daughter to fund her habit and that's why Orylan wanted to move in with her dad.
Yeah all these cases are anything but healthy. There is something horribly wrong when you want to be this different from your fellow humans.

This is body dysmorphia on a whole another level… I have 10 piercings, including stretched ears and I love them all. Getting tattoos and piercings is okay. But removing organs and deliberately disabling yourself is just too sad. It affects your life quality too much. I feel bad for these people.

Is it just me or does it seem like the thing a lot body modders truly needed was more mental health care instead of the modifications? So many seem to have struggled combinations of body dysmorphia, abuse, and other mental issues/traumas. I am generally supportive of using your body as a canvas to express yourself, but some people take it too far. Especially cutting off a part of your body like your fingers, nose, ears, or entire limbs, I could never imagine doing that.

it’s sad because what if they regret their modifications one day? a lot of them are irreversible. im supportive of like people who wanna get tattoos or piercings but some people take it too far :(
I'm all for artistic expression but you also have to be responsible for the artistic choices you make.
@Safwaan i feel like if the tattoos have meaning to you, that's one thing. but covering yo skin completely in black just to do it is wild. i just get one as time progresses, and maybe someday i'll happen to cover most my body, but i'll never tat my face (or private areas cuz that's pointless imo). but it amazes me that somebody would not only want their skin permanently altered to that extreme, but also *has the money to get it done* so freely 😂
@Safwaan I mean it kinda depends on the tattoos though, like I would say if someone did it for religious reasons or cultural reasons that they should be weighed down for it

I feel so bad for the dragon lady. I couldn't imagine trying to become more comfortable with yourself and losing your child because of it. I couldn't imagine the struggles they must go to to find their own happiness while also trying to get that relationship back. I hope one day their son can look past the modifications and see the person underneath that

I know it is sad because at the end of the day it’s the person not the style that should over do someone . My bff has an 8g septum and a lot of ppl hate them or say they look scary even though they are nicer than most people . Similarly to me if people just knew instead of seeing the outside then the world would be better :)
It saddens me to see sad life stories that lead people to these extreme body modifications, I think it matches how extreme their pain and trauma are.
It’s depressing that nobody is there to guide them and tell them they can love themselves without becoming a monster

In regards to Ethan, he's stated many times that he's not lasering his face due to the regret of having his face tattooed. He just doesn't like those specific tattoos, and is planning on replacing them after its all lasered off

Removal of fingers sounds like something out of my nightmares, and the video hasn't even passed the intro. Literally ten seconds into the video and I already feel a type of way.
Yes out of all these thats the one that got me. I understand wanting to put art on yourself and different patterns but to amputate multiple parts of your body and wish to remove your leg actually sounds like a mental illness to me.
Don’t get rid of your face! I like seeing it in all of the videos. It’s one of the reasons I started following, I think it gives us a sense of you’re having a conversation with us instead of just relaying information!

I’m ok when people do tattoos and normal piercings but going overboard like many of these people just makes me uncomfortable and kind of scares me
I studied this during philosophy in university while discussing body dysmorphia. Even if I still find it extreme and kind of scary that there are people who go through with it and also people that are willing to perform the procedures, the psychology and philosphy surrounding it is fascinating.

These people don’t need the surgeries, they need help. I wish the people doing these procedures would stop and help them find therapists and psychiatrists
There's no body mod in the world that can change your self worth in a meaningful way. So be sure it's what you really want.
Agreed, we can use our bodies as an art project and receive compliments about them, but we shouldn't be reduced to just an art project; it is just a small part of a bigger picture.
the part of this I can't understand is how much all of these modifications must cost.... I can't imagine being dedicated enough to spend that much
body mods are cool as fuck imo, i do worry about the people who are mutilating themselves in ways that impact their lives tho. i only have a few “regular” piercings and a small tattoo but i’m really big into expressing my personal style through fashion and i love seeing people be themselves physically as well as mentally! split tongues are so interesting to me, from what i’ve seen, the healing is not that bad

I totally agree! I think body mods are really cool and as long as your not hurting yourself or making your life harder (not socially but physically harming your body, you know). Do whatever you want as long as your not hurting yourself or others.
I believe it’s crossing a line when you start splitting your tongue or cutting off body parts of any kind.
At that point, that’s harmful to the person, and not a form of artistic expression.
What’s worrying is that a lot of these people have identification issues. Those are a psychiatric problem, not a physical one
Yeah me too. My most extreme piercing atm is a belly piercing. It's crazy to me that people cut their ears and fingers off...
This just reminded me of a surgery that breaks your bones so you can be taller.
I feel so much sympathy towards Orylan. They remind me someone I am very close with, obviously not on the outside, and it seems like she's been through so much shit that it overpowers her appearance. I genuanlly hope I might be wrong and this is all an act. Sometimes hearing people talk about their experience as kids in the world of adults is so fucked up. If they want to embody a certain aesthetic, i'd say go for it, your body is just a temporary vessel and if they're happy, who cares? As long as you're not harming or endangering yourself nothing is too crazy
A lot of these people are harming and endangering themselves though, specifically the people that intentionally cut off important body parts like fingers, noses etc.
A little off-topic, but from what I personally believe in, a person gets a new, permanent vessel after they die. Back on topic, I also believe that a person shouldn't be discriminated for just being themselves. I am male, and I plan on wearing dolphin shorts outside for the first time this summer (the ones I have are unisex).

Thanks, man! I've always loved how flexible and vintage they are, and combined with the fact that I often exercise my legs, makes for a perfect feel. I also always thought it was weird that it is mostly marketed towards women, since they began as gym shorts for all genders.
I don't understand why some doctors allows splitting tounge, cutting finger, ears and such. I mean before atleast doing body modification surgery the patient must need to go to therapist and have diagnosis of body dysmorphia. This is pathetic

There was a movie called “tusk” about this crazy old man who turned this news reporter into a walrus by stitching his current skin and remove his limbs to shape him as a walrus. This video topic just made me remember that insanely horrific movie.

I understand the damage did to him was undoable and he was stuck like that forever but the way she abandoned him there was crazy. Especially the way he looked at her before it ended was just.. eugh.

My ears are stretched(at one point they were at 1/2" but i had to start over bc of a judgemental bf), at one point I had 10 piercings(not including my ears), I have 7 tattoos, next week it will be 8, 2 of them very large(one 1/4 sleeve and a chest piece). These artistic pieces/modifications have been part of my journey to loving myself, to taking parts of my body I felt insecure about and making them more beautiful in my eyes. Long tattoo sessions are also very meditative and can help you really test your limits and understand/improve your tolerance and ability to endure not just physical pain, but mental and emotional as well. Through what others call "destruction" of my body, I've found rebirth, strength and a renewed sense of love for my temple. My tattoos all have intensely personal meaning to me, even the goofy shitty ones remind me of a specific point in time. Plus my kiddo loves to use markers to color in the black and white parts of my sleeve haha

Random fun fact: There are now two ways to get a painless tattoo, which are HUSH products and the micro-needle tattoo technique created by scientists. With that said, I absolutely loved reading your story and the way you described your tattoos. I've always imagined tattoos as a way to describe someone's personality and feelings without words. My mom has a tattoo of 4 dots on her hand that take the shape of a Christian cross, and she has a large rose on her shoulder.

i have a magnet implant, its pretty cool, i can detect metal, detect electricity in microwaves, in the thicker cables in walls, other magnets, i can fuck with compasses by making the needle follow my finger and make it spin to freak people out like 11 from stranger things. i love it. and my mri concerns have been alleviated since i found out surgical tape is enough to keep it from getting ripped out, so yeah, pretty happy with this and hope to get another soon.

If you do a sequel on this you should cover my friend Jester Mayhone. He has three different colors tattooed into each of his scleras (eyeballs), multiple silicone implants under his skin, a crown of microdermal piercings on his head, and his entire face and head down to his sternum are tattooed in a patchwork clown. He's a professional artist and is well-known in the body modification world which is how I met him whenever I was a piercing apprentice, but in his personal life he is a devoted single father and family man who generally just keeps a low profile. I tend to see his name and face on a lot of list of heavily-tattooed people and I was kind of surprised that he wasn't on this one. In all honesty out of all of the heavily-tattooed micro celebrities in the world I think he's probably the nicest person I've ever met.

I understand a nose or navel piercing or getting earrings but chopping off limbs definitely shouldn't ever be normalized it's literally self harm disguised as "body modification" I'd argue eye tattoos shouldn't be normalized either if it's risking your eye sight. Getting implants in your head to give yourself horns I'll assume is probably not as dangerous as chopping off limbs or potentially going blind but I feel that if someone feels the need to look that over the top in terms of their physical appearance because they hate how they use to look that badly there's probably some sort trauma or mental illness. I have nothing agaisnt these people but body modification that extreme seems unhealthy.
I feel bad that the first guy complained about not being allowed to eat at some restaurants but I can honestly understand why. I'm sure plenty of people would probably lose their appetite looking at him. You can't change your appearance so drastically that you don't even look human and expect your life to stay the same or expect people not to be freaked out by you.

I have severe body dysmorphia but I am not capable of doing the things I think would help me feel better due to money. I also know that doing those things will not sure my dysmorphia but I still want them.

For me, I am modded but compared to these folks, nothing as extreme. 14 gauges...etc.
These are Extreme. (splitting and removal of bones and or difficult punches - rhino's or angel bites- )
Let people live the way they want to. If you have questions then politely ask and if you can't deal with the visual you see, close your eyes and breath knowing that this is not your life, but theirs and their choices. (You don't have to judge them. Someone who's already gone thru such changes does not live on the same level of fear. All body mods should always be done under the care of a professional. I dont know what it is and maybe its just me but i honestly love seeing people who have done body modifications and are happy with the way they look. Not only do they look super cool and unique but it also shows that regardless of how someone looks they can be just as kind and lighthearted as the next person.
It’s funny when these people claim we don’t have the balls to get these huge body modifications, but it’s not even that, it’s the fact that we don’t want to ruin our face and body
