Whoever says there weren't any good GD shows in the 90's needs to watch this. I didn't intend to watch it all, but couldn't turn it off. Thanks much!! :)
Thunder during "Looks Like Rain" gives me the chills!!! So very fortunate to have been there!!! This was the 7th of the 9 shows I got to see in May '92. God I miss Jerry!!!
No Doubt!!! It was Awesome watching the Lazy Lightning rollin' in from the Desert with the boys playin' in the foreground. Powerful collaboration between Nature & the Grateful Dead there. T'was a privilege to attend. 🙏🙏💃🏻🇺🇸🔥 (~);}
saw every show they played there and it's one of my best memories camping out at lake mead after all the shows with my fellow deadheads...or one year there were 1 dollar beers at slots of fun and the hippies invaded, across the street they were filming honey I shrunk the kids and we were all dosing so good...great great memories!!
I was here whole weekend. Didn't care for Steve Miller opening. Lame asked audience first day who was gonna be here Sat. Half the crowd cheers. Then asks whose here all weekend. Half crowd cheers. But he played same set all 3 days. Anyway, I was doing lots of speed and L. Don't remember much. Came from L.A. in my VW bus. Brought 6 people. Came back with 5. We lost one. Lol he made it back ok. That's just how it was then. I just turned 50 a month ago. I would so love to go back. I'd slow down a little and cherish these moments. Man those were the days. Nothing but fun and doing whatever I wanted. Now it's work, bills, agggh. Seems I worry a lot more. About what I don't know? Shit if I made it this far?.....Lol
Wow..I can't believe this show is on UA-cam, in it's entirety. I was here, and attended the rest of the weekend as well. I was in the Marine Corps then, stationed in 29 Palms, CA. A friend of mine who had never seen a show came with me, and as we drove through the desert coming in to the Nevada border, we started to see the random VW bus or car with a Dead bumpersticker and I would roll down the window, smiling and waving, and the people in the other car would cheer..(the migration). We were getting closer! Get to the parking lot and girls would come up and rub the bald headed Deadheads head (thanks to Marine regulation, lol)..I got some mileage out of that, and "FREE HUGS" which I would yell, lol. So much fun. The lot stretched out for quite a bit..this was not the average Dead show. Sand storm kicked up pretty big afterwards..does anyone remember that? So glad I got out of the Marines after four years, I was ready to go to college and be a writer, but one great thing that happened was all of the west coast shows that this kid from Kentucky got to see. The Marine recruiter didn't tell me I was going to be this lucky! I will say one last thing, before I ramble on into eternity here..if you can withstand a continuous lysergic moment for three days with very little sleep in Las Vegas and actually function AND have a blast..day to day stress that people go through at work, etc., seems comical, at best. Lol.
Well,,, it was a nice surprise and wonderful memory for me when China doll came on here. Magical time we had for these 3 shows in Vegas 1992. I was 29 , on my way out to southern California with my good buddy and the anticipation of this show right here made us actually leave our home city and goooooooo. We had another long term friend in san diego that we were going out to live with, and no ties, with nothing but joy to lead us into our new adventure and future. It was our first time ever in Vegas with a million heads flooding the place. It was so great. Plus we about to go to the west coast and become Californians. Preaching on the burning shore. Knocking on heavens door in western skies. The promised land. Well I will tell you one thing for sure: Like all promised land's, Including the one in The Bible, there was a lot of work to do.... and we slayed it! You know things like go in claim the land settle their clean the place up make it Ready to be a pathway for your miracle to come through . it' was a pretty indescribable feeling. Yep, with in a year we had both met our incredible future wives and were on our way. We all together opened up really nice, successful dance training studio called---- Mississippi Half Step Dance Studio & Adventure Tours ----' Nah, I was just shyttin' tall about the dance studio part. 😎🕺
Was this the show where Sting opened for them? Funny you mention being in the Marines at the time. I was in the Navy at the time, but I was a corpsman for 2nd Med Batallion out at Camp Lejeune. Originally from San Jose I was on leave back home a few months before the show where Sting opened and some friends of mine were going to that show. I was so jealous. If only I had been stationed at 29 Palms I could have gone. After Lejeune I finished my enlistment working at the clinic at MCRD in San Diego. By the time I got out I am pretty sure I knew more about the Marines than I did the Navy.
I also survived a 3 day lysergic moment - so much fun. We rode our bikes from the strip to the Stadium all 3 days to avoid the traffic. One of the best weekends of my life.
So happy to be listening to the best guitarist ever reading these comments, filled with stories that make me especially happy. Ahhhhh Wish more than the world I could have seen him. I’m 20 & COULDNT be happier to have 7 tickets to dead and company for the upcoming fall 21 tour!
My favorite ' Dead' song ever that makes me feel it all: the crazy friends & family of ours, our times together, The Band, life, the world, love with intense sadness & joy& ultimate hope drifting me away!!
The EDM-esque "I'm A Man" jam, led by (presumably) Phil looping that riff, then everyone jamming off it (Jerry & Bob left the stage) is one of the wildest unique things I ever saw the GD perform in over 300 shows starting in 1974. Starts around 1:48:35
Holy shit!!! They had such a powerful sound this show, especially from drums, space, watchtower and that china doll was SMOKIN! I've never been crazy about china doll until I saw this version. Then a pumped sugar mags into the weight. When I started enjoying grateful dead music I didn't have an open mind for shows post Brent, I now feel that Vince had a whole heap of talent and I'm stuck on these 90-95 shows, granted they aren't all top notch. However when they were on they had pure power and force behind the sound! I highly recommend listening close to the transition of space to watchtower and you will see the musicianship that was the grateful dead!!
Well put Nicholas,,, I used to go into every show that I was fortunate enough to get to see, just expecting to witness a kind of miracle and musical genius that didnt seem to be attainable any other place or by anybody but Dr. Garcia and company. I am just now starting to come to grips with Jerry's death and how it all happened. Back then we had no internet ...... you couldn't find out ANYTHING without it. We knew nothing. We just went to see what was going to happen next. We couldn't even find lyrics to fvcking songs.... of ANY kind. It was really weird when I think about it now... there were very few places that you could get answers to any thing that you wondered about or wanted to know. You just basically wondered what the answer was until you forgot about it in defeat. Actually, there wasnt even anything to make you even wonder about stuff or want to find answers to. You just didnt "know" what you may have wanted to "know". If you wanted to know what Bobby's middle name is, you would have to find a book about Bob Weir. If you wanted to find out about a new guitar that Jerry had on stage,,,, you had to do all kinds of research to try to get lucky and find somebody who was in a business related to music who knew who had made some of his previous guitars for him..... and try to call EVERYBODY in the phone book to hopefully catch a break and every once in a while find the info that you were looking for. Mostly not. Mostly I gave up trying to find out information about things that I didnt have a specific book on the subject in question. Anyway I guess my point is that after Jerry died I knew nothing,,,, there was no videos or other things going around that you could learn about Or listen to.... So I basically blocked it out for About 15 years.....LOL. Great thing now is that I can actually enjoy listening to Jerry Garcia band and Grateful Dead shows without any sort of expectations. I just make it a point to enjoy at all whatever Show I happen to be listening to. It's really nice. Incredible actually. And as far is Jerry goes, I'm still digging and trying to piece together something, something was weird about how it all went down at the end..... And I'm going to find it out eventually. Peace to all, and to all a good night. .... Have a Jerry Christmas and a Happy New Weir!
I moved to rural Idaho in 1991. I took the first person I met to these shows/ Miquel Ponce. He showed me how to love Van Halen. I showed him how to love the Dead and Reggae. Symms Fruit Ranch/Ste. Chappel Wineries.
I remember that moment like it was yesterday. My friends and I were sitting in the back of the stadium, in the center about a dozen rows down from the top. We were commenting on and laughing about the pull Jerry must have, to get mother nature to que up some lightning and thunder, at the perfect moment for the song.
has to rank up there with the best SugarMags ever. Bobby in top form and the asian guy dancing in his seat, and Jerry turning around and making conversation was classic. also amusing was their private channel in the PA going out live in the beginning of the show. Also of note is a killer drums and space
Great moments litter this 3 night stand in the City of Sin. ✔out the strong bass work on TLEO . He's thumpin' throughout, but I particularly enjoyed that one... (~);}
Vegas were always the best shows. First year, played with Santana. I believe this was the second year. Only time bad was last year when they scheduled them for July instead of May, it was way too hot. I drove from LA, got to parking lot in search of tickets, looked for five minutes, then got back into car, turned around and headed to the Hilton to hang at the pool then drove back to LA. All in a day's work.. Only time I did not go to a show. It was just that hot.
No this wasn’t the second show cause I saw them there in ‘90 so if that was the first time, then this would’ve been their third. Vegas was definitely my favorite venue to see them and very easy from LA. Those were some good days.!
yep yep. the boys brought the thunder and lightning for sure. that was wicked, makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up just thinking about it...the word 'awesome' is overused but definitely fits here. AWESOME!!!
It was in June that year because Las Vegas hosted the world cup or some soccer event. The only time I know Jerry saw me, as a man went down I wave my hands to get the medic's attention who was on the side of stage. He didn't see me, but Jerry did and motioned to him. It was too hot.
not sure which show... it was hot as hell...Drums and space hit.. sky split dark on one side sun beating other.. lightning show...cool breeze blew through... rainbow appeared...never forget
Man that first set is brutal. Jesus they almost come to a stop in TLEO. At 38:00 look at Jerry drop his hands to his side when Vince doesn't play. Rough first set to say the least.

Too much Vince vocals and his keys are a bit high in the mix; never a winning combination. Some decent playing in this set though, despite those problems.

It was amazing. The Grateful Dead vs Mother Nature. One of my most magical concerts experiences.
I was there in April for a 3day show.
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Chapter by Chapter / Verse by Verse !!!!!!!

yeah slots of fun at circus cirus one dollar heinys!!!

My first of many Dead shows. I was hooked at Peggy O...and the rest is history.

Still have ticket stub first show and will never ever forget.....!!!!!
Thank you Voodoonola! Great show. You hold do many of my memories that were a blur until I saw these 85-95 shows. Thanks again
I moved to rural Idaho in 1991.
I took the first person I met to these shows/
Miquel Ponce. He showed me how to love Van Halen.
I showed him how to love the Dead and Reggae.
Symms Fruit Ranch/Ste. Chappel Wineries.
Where in Idaho?
Thanks for the Rainbow of Smiles!!! Health and Happiness to you and yours!! PEACE
Thanks for putting this up. I remember the lightning and thunder during "it looks like rain". Then the rainbows. It seemed pretty intense. Good times.
I remember that moment like it was yesterday. My friends and I were sitting in the back of the stadium, in the center about a dozen rows down from the top. We were commenting on and laughing about the pull Jerry must have, to get mother nature to que up some lightning and thunder, at the perfect moment for the song.
Thanks for posting made my day, love all of these shows, brings back great memories.
For a near walking dead man, Jerry still seemed to have had about a thousand tons of raw power left in him
his mother is the key she looks to be of ancient blood decent and jerry is too haha look at him!!
China Doll after All Along/Watchtower
Love this show. I just wish they had more crowd mics. Always a great part of the show. Thoroughly enjoying it.
Great show! Great memories. Thanks, Voodoonola2!!!!
This was definitely my favorite venue to see the Dead. Very easy coming from LA but I don’t think I saw the 92 show I saw the others around it.😊
Great show and light show in the sky!
It got so hot, Rockmed graciously hosed us down both in the show and out in the lot
One thing about the Dead they won't mess with you uploading.
good stuff here love it . THANKS

jerry sounds like he's faded as fuck he got that dope rasp lol
this peggy o is bonkers good
Peggy-o
i wonder how this show would have went if brent never passed

Everyone is saying how great this show is when you cant even hear jerrys guitar...let's be real here
I must admit Jerry's guitar isn't very loud.
Bill Graham's son at the 3:50 mark, long hair, hat on backwards...and younger son sitting behind Jerry.
David is the one with long hair with his hat on backwards, and Alex is the one sitting
This was my first show
Mine too! 😎🤪🎱
CHINA DOLL after WATCHTOWER,
BLACK THROATED WIND
not sure which show... it was hot as hell...Drums and space hit.. sky split dark on one side sun beating other.. lightning show...cool breeze blew through... rainbow appeared...never forget
+Carole Barclay i forgot about the rainbow..thanks that whole thunder thing during drums was such a trip!
+Carole Barclay the next night 5-30-92
on the day that i was born
my daddy sat down and cried, I had the mark just as plain as day, it could not be denied. For real my dad did sit down and cry
Man that first set is brutal. Jesus they almost come to a stop in TLEO. At 38:00 look at Jerry drop his hands to his side when Vince doesn't play. Rough first set to say the least.

. . . but not on the Set List . . . sloppy :-)
MY FIRST SHOW ❤️⚡️💙
#IWasThere!
Leaked in ear monitor recording. You can hear them talking to the monitor person (Harry Popick) on occasion.
Like X a million....!!!
was at this one.
Amazing transition @ 2:14:00!!!!!
Nice Vince keys
Thanks for the memories! Was it this show or the one prior where there were two rainbos side by side that had a lightening bolt shoot through the middle of them? Anyone remember?
Angela Saturday show had lightning, also stormy
It was way cool. They played looks like rain then knocking on Heavins door. Did Steve Miller open this year or was this Traffic?
@@jeffreyriggs2494
Steve Miller
Traffic was 94
An off night, it happens
Jerry is in one foul mood.
God Vince can fuck things up just by opening his mouth. God Did I miss Brent ...
A little "Woody the woodpecker" before Walkin' Blues......
word
"walking Blues" and the "extra"
where r Jerry's guitar speakers? am i blind :)
.....of course, there's Deborah Koons Garcia making herself quite comfy just a few feet from Jerry...She had a spell on him I guess
I'm pretty sure Jerry played the best guitar when he was with deb.. back in 77 and also in 93 thanks
Vince is way too loud in the mix. Jerry way too quiet
Got to admit that Vince sounds real good here. He's starting to blend in real nice
Agree, aside from the raggedy “The Weight” encore. Good playin’ and backup in the rest of the show.
Not even close to the 91 Vegas shows
II 99

Nic fanny pack, Bobby at 9:05!
This first set is awful
