I've been a member at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship since 2001. Pastor Evans has been an exceptional leader/teacher. I'm praying for him, the Evans' family, our church leadership (elders) and members.
The thing is.... Tony, u cleaned your slate by starting your online ministry from the get go WITH your past life..... so it's a blessing because u set urself free to continue to do your work without ANYONE putting allegations against you. Many of these pastoral folk HAVE NOT done this, and so, their past "covered up" life is now being exposed. U have been raw and genuine from day 1 and God has blessed you for this. Using ur past scars as a message of freedom for us women. Most pastors are not using their past scars as a platform to win souks for God kingdom. Church is a performance based institution as well. U have to keep up performance/appearances in these places. I believe tht true healing actually takes place outside these churches to be honest with you. It was Covid that opened my eyes to the reality of toxic religiosity and church institutions, and being home reading my bible alone drew me CLOSER to God that the decades I spent in churches . God continue to bless you and your family Sir❤️❤️❤️

With all due respect...Dr. Evans has been living a life of integrity and righteousness longer than most pastors have been alive. I'll stick with a generational faithful man, instead of someone who just started learning about what it means to be faithful for a few years.

She doesn’t typically speak like this but she ended up saying: if it’s a war you want, it’s a war your going to get, messing with mine. I’ve never heard her preach like that, she’s always super positive.
When I heard this, I said out loud, Lord I don't know what he did, but be with him through it. I have always respected him because of the example he set with his family. No one is perfect or above reproach, but I hate this for them. May God help them.
I grew up in the Dallas area and am very familiar with OCBF and the Evans family. I give respect to Dr. Evans for coming forward with his truth and I do believe after almost 50 years of solid ministry, writing books, other public appearances and everything this man has been through in his personal life, it’s certainly time to have a seat and rest. Oh no! Tony Evans is my favorite tv pastor! He was married and his wife passed. One of his church members and their husband was on their way to her funeral and got in a crash and the husband died. They got married to each other years later. I love that he and his team is holding him accountable in a non scandalous way (so far). I can respect that because we all fall short
Thank you for the grace you showed while discussing this matter Tony. It frustrates me to no end when other “believers” are quick to turn their back on a brother/sister in Christ. For the people in the comments, the thing is, we are all able to find ourselves in a weak spot at some point in our life and in those times, our judgement regarding what we do, engage in, whatever can cause us to sin in the eyes of God, especially those with a platform. What is happening with Dr. Tony Evans can happen to anyone at anytime because look how old he is? This is the first we’re hearing, but who knows what he was going through at the time when he did whatever he did that caused him to sin against God. We need to pray for our brother in Christ and not turn our noses up as if we have never sinned. Alot of the stuff we do behind closed doors when we’re alone hasn’t been made public by God. As a member of OCBF, I appreciate his accountability. He is human, not God. In my 44 years on Earth, I've never saw or heard of him being nothing more than upright. He said God put it on his heart to come forward. If he is being obedient, then he will be fine. Sucks for us though. Despite all of the talk, judgment and speculation. While we respect his decision, his presence will definitely be missed... many of us lean to his teachings for encouragement. The church has never had another Senior Pastor so it will, for sure, be different. Luckily he has a plethora of material that will forever be beneficial for his members and others. We all fall short. I pray for his restoration. Accountability AND correction are essential for good character..

When did Evans say God put it on his heart to come forward? He hasn't yet apologized to the church or to the person he wronged, nor did he ask Oak Cliff to forgive him for his secret sin.

I hope people learn esp those of such roles/influence that it’s always best to lead with honesty, transparency, & accountability about mistakes vs avoiding it or pretending it never happened. It can be a hard thing to do of course, but it is the right thing to do which is more respectable and shows integrity. You can fool people, but you can’t fool God. The truth will always come forth one way or another.

The Bible says confess your faults to one another for a reason not one of us is righteous or good according to the word. We can only strive to be like Christ. Pastors are held at a higher standard according to the word so he should confess it and move on. I believe this is how God humbles us no none should put any human on a pedestal.

So many are saying: Oh No! Dr. Tony Evans is still just a man. So many of the lessons Tony teaches are the same lessons my mother taught. This is not a surprise or shocking to me.
I think you handled this exceptionally well. Yes, scripture teaches us to confess our faults one to another, pray one for another so that we may be healed. I do hope that Pastor Evans will stand before the Oak Cliff Church and confess that he sinned against God and _______ whomever it was that he hurt. In his statement to the church he didn't apologize or express remorse over his secret sin, he didn't say "I repent for breaking God's heart" he didn't even offer an apology to his members for how this will impact them. He only states that his family & the elders forgave him, but his youngest son just admitted (on Sunday) that he doesn't know anymore than the members and his father will return to the pulpit. I think it was a poor decision to be vague and hope they will choose to be explicit about what is happening. God bless everyone involved and have mercy on us all.
Dr. Evans said his wife, children, and elders know. Jonathan said on Sunday when he was told he got the same info we did days before the announcement but he didn't say he never found out after that particular day.
My question is…. Between the time this sin/sins happened and now at what point didn’t repentance and stepping down seem important? We are all human and fall short. But let’s take a realistic look. This is attempt to mitigate loss. Exposure is looming so the best defense is offense.

I’m not familiar with who he is, but whatever that reason he finally stepped down was the right one. What you said about the board believing in the Bible. It’s exactly the stance more members of these churches need to take. Leaders should be held to a higher standard. When you’re leading people they shouldn’t have to suffer while you work on yourself. This is a start it needs to have a domino effect in all religions.

I disagree. Why do you need to know what he specifically did, so you can dissect just as these youtubers are doing. That's why when we pray for people, we don't need to know their specific troubles. What have you done wrong? Be accountable for your sins and be prayerful for those who are struggling or failing in the body of Christ.

Pastors are held at a higher standard according to the word so he should confess it and move on. I believe this is how God humbles us no none should put any human on a pedestal.

So many are saying: Oh No! Dr. Tony Evans is still just a man. So many of the lessons Tony teaches are the same lessons my mother taught. This is not a surprise or shocking to me.
I think you handled this exceptionally well. Yes, scripture teaches us to confess our faults one to another, pray one for another so that we may be healed. I do hope that Pastor Evans will stand before the Oak Cliff Church and confess that he sinned against God and _______ whomever it was that he hurt. In his statement to the church he didn't apologize or express remorse over his secret sin, he didn't say "I repent for breaking God's heart" he didn't even offer an apology to his members for how this will impact them. He only states that his family & the elders forgave him, but his youngest son just admitted (on Sunday) that he doesn't know anymore than the members and his father will return to the pulpit. I think it was a poor decision to be vague and hope they will choose to be explicit about what is happening. God bless everyone involved and have mercy on us all.
Dr. Evans said his wife, children, and elders know. Jonathan said on Sunday when he was told he got the same info we did days before the announcement but he didn't say he never found out after that particular day.

My question is….
Between the time this sin/sins happened and now at what point didn’t repentance and stepping down seem important? We are all human and fall short. But let’s take a realistic look. This is attempt to mitigate loss. Exposure is looming so the best defense is offense.

I’m not familiar with who he is, but whatever that reason he finally stepped down was the right one. What you said about the board believing in the Bible. It’s exactly the stance more members of these churches need to take. Leaders should be held to a higher standard. When you’re leading people they shouldn’t have to suffer while you work on yourself. This is a start it needs to have a domino effect in all religions.
