the entire intro is also about DEATH. Tony spend some episodes talking about how death is in his perspective. Also Carmela is always talking about tony's fear from FBI or death(in the end of this clip she said that she's always worried), because this is the two roads from people like him: death or get caught (tony also said this). He literally said that death is all black and silence. Just like the finale scene from the show. We are seeing through Tony's eyes, and when he dies the scene ends. All other seasons ended with music, but not this one.
Number one, the sacred name. The director. Janice represents the true mob life. Volatile, lazy and willing to look the other way at what is most important. Number two, memory, power, light. Bobby is the heart of the show. Having never been super in to murdering and other vices the mob presents. The other guy kills himself when the "right buttons" are pushed due to Tony and his crew. Number three, the guardian angel. Meadow saves Tony multiple times through the series and is absent in the finale when he is whacked. Number four, the heart, often treacherous. The guy who acts as the FBI informant (whose name I forget). Pretty self explanatory there. Number five, the double. AJ, who is arguable Tony's double in laziness and lack of self awareness. He's now an adolescent and this foreshadows Tony's death in the finale, as the double reaches adolescence at the time of bodily death. Number six, the shadow. Our whole past conditioning. Adriana is one of the "mob brats" much like Carmella is. She benefitted from the crimes of the mob knowingly, and lost her life because of it by the very hand that used to feed her. Number seven, the remains. When Tony dies, Carmella will be all that remains of his former life, and she will have to deal the fallout of his death more than her children. What a perfect song to add to this season opening to foreshadow the fates of these characters.
His name was Ray!! Also, extremely disappointed they killed him off by a stroke at the very beginning. Ray was there since season 1 and since season 3 we knew he was an FBI informant and I expected a HUGE role for him in this final season. *NOPE*

Everyone has talked a lot about the meaning of the seven souls. But the short scene right at the start, with Agent Harris and his colleague in the car, also makes a more meta commentary. The opening line denigrating the taste of the American public, followed by Agent Harris (who sort of represents the conscience of the viewer throughout the series) throwing up, suggests a comment by David Chase on his viewers - criticizing their willingness to root for Tony Soprano, and emphasising the visceral disgust that they should feel as they watch. Much of the point of Season 6 was to undermine the viewers' affection for Tony and make them realize what he and the other characters really were.
The symbolism of Adriana's ghost passing the cigarette to Carmela, suggesting she will die along with Tony & AJ (the devil) at the end. Only Meadow lives on
Notice the black locomotive being shown when the narrator says "from conception to death" foreboding Bobby's death in the train shop (where a similar shot is interspersed with his shooting)
Listening to music is a very valuable job on the film and TV industry since you can find songs with a dirt cheap cost to use or even free. Sadly, it requires listening to music non-stop, most of which sucks
I kinda thought the "seven souls" was each season and a significant death from them. Like 1 could be Jackie Aprile since he's one of the first meaningful deaths in the show ("the first to leave at the moment of death"). The "director" mentioned in the verse could be Tony. The "secret title" could be referring to Tony letting Junior think he's boss when in reality he runs things. It says "when you did that's where Ren came in." It could mean how Jacki Aprile dies as boss and when Tony dies he will die as boss as well. 2 is Pussy because he is literally thrown "off the sinking ship" (sinking ship could also refer to Tony's life that goes more down hill after Pussy's death). Energy, power and light could be his wire?(not sure about that one). The "presses the right buttons" line could refer to the FBI?(also not sure about that one). 3 might be Tracee. The verse is obviously talking about Meadow and her acting as Tony's "guardian angel" for the entirely of season 6. The thing is though, that the episode with Tracee has a B plot with Meadow. One could interpret that episode as Meadow and Tracee's lives being compared, being that they are both young women close to Tony. In the verse the 3rd soul is being described as beautiful. In a later episode Meadow reminds Tony of Tracee. It could also be referring to Jackie Jr since the verse says "he, she or it is 3rd man out" and because he was close to Meadow and Tony. 4 is Ralphie because he is "treacherous". He could also represent Tony's inner self ("the heart") because everything bad that Ralphie does, Tony does as well. The "hawks body with you face on it" could furthermore show how similar Tony and Ralphie are. "Many a hero has been brought down, like Samson, by a perfidious Ba" could be referring to the scene where Tony kills Ralphie. In the scene Ralphie is pointing out Tony's hypocrisies to the point where Tony gets mad and murders him. For anyone who doesn't know the story of Samson, basically there's a guy who has never cut his hair and is strong asf. Samson gets his strength from his hair. His wife betrays him and cuts off his hair to sell since she thinks his hair is magic. It turns out the power in his hair only worked on him. Samson is left weak. The scene shows a time where Tony is weak. Brought down by Ralphie (Ba). 5 is Tony B because he is "most closely associated with the subject" (aka Tony). The "death at adolescence" could be referring to Tony B going to prison at a young age (could be saying he didn't have a chance to live). He is also the "only reliable guide through the land of the dead" since Steve Buscemi played Tony B and the butler in Tony's coma dream that insist he comes into the house (which could be interpreted as death). Number 5 could also be Adrianna since she is "most closely associated with the subject" (aka Christopher and/or Tony). She also literally dies young. She could be "the only reliable guide through the land of the Dead" with the scene at the end where she disappears in Carmela's dream and/or because she was giving information to the FBI. 6 is Vito because he is one of the only characters to, arguably, successfully leave the mob life. The Khaibit(6) verse is talking about one's past, which Vito regrets his own. 7 could be Tony (or any of the other significant character deaths in the 6th season idk). It might lean more towards Christopher since he gets the most shit and is left feeling depressed.(again in not that sure). Idk this is my interpretation. I'd like to hear what others think about the song though.

I've been thinking a lot about that first one, Ren, the Secret (or sacred) name. At first I thought, he described it as "my director" and that could represent how Janice is becoming a lot like her mother, and we know how much influence she impacted Tony's life. But I think the Secret Name goes deeper than that so hear me out. The shot points at Janice being a mother again, which probably has her thinking about her son, Hal formerly named Harpo. But the intro song brings up the point that the Secret Name becomes the title of your movie. Tony made fun of Janice for naming her son after "Harpo's Blues", which is a sad and beautiful song, but if Janice is supposed to a substitute version of his mother to him, then I think Harpo (or Harpo’s Blues) is Tony's Secret Name. The lyrics describe Tony's life, sadness, and hatred very well especially when this verse came up: I strut and fret My hour upon the stage The hour is up I have to run and hide my rage I'm lost again I think I'm really scared I won't be back at all this time And have my deepest secrets shared This verse was perfect for describing Tony's last moments, and if you don't believe me, remember Tony and Janice's last conversation was about Harpo changing his name to Hal.
@@Gotaperuviannecktie It’s reliable guide through the land of the dead. And in the last scene, AJ has an oddly nice moment where he tells his dad to remember the good times.

What's crazy is that he wouldn't have given his family an exit In that horrible way if the 'Good guys' hadn't put the screws on him. Not exactly gonna give the feds a hard time about it, but still
i think when the song ends with saying that carmela is the "remains" it implies that both AJ and tony die in the diner scene, aj probably tried to protect his dad from members only guy. so only carmela and meadow are left. also janice may have had something to do with tonys death (shes named as the director). she's tried to have him killed before, wouldnt put it past her after bobby got killed. she probably resented tony for it, and also wants his money.
This is episode 66, season 6 = 666. What is being recited is from the Egyptian Book of the Dead, it's William Burroughs and he's talking about the 7 souls you must reincarnate before being reborn. This is the episode in which Uncle June shoots Tony and he "dies." Worthy of notice is that it is said that on the day James Gandolfini died, that he had spent hours reading from The Egyptian Book of the Dead.
Actually these are in same season what are you talking about. The last season contains 21 episodes, the others are only 10. So both of us are right. The last 10 episodes can be the 7. season...but officially these are in the 6. season.
"Energy power or light...presses the right button" as shown in Eugenes scene could be that his older brother or family member killed him in the end since because of Tony not letting him move to Florida! That the button that killed Tony metaphorically speaking!
Just touching on one of the core themes of the show, namely, consumerism and materialism, and an audience's general desire to be entertained through drama, action and violence. You can never lose betting on it.
I don’t think this is the beginning of the end. It’s a whole different story in Part 1 and Part 2. They should have just called them season 6 and season 7.

The lyrics describe Tony's life, sadness, and hatred very well especially when this verse came up:
I strut and fret
My hour upon the stage
The hour is up
I have to run and hide my rage
I'm lost again
I think I'm really scared
I won't be back at all this time
And have my deepest secrets shared
This verse was perfect for describing Tony's last moments, and if you don't believe me, remember Tony and Janice's last conversation was about Harpo changing his name to Hal.
1:40 funny how aj is "the devil"
Van Helsing
what rough beast
It is indeed Double. It's worth reading the actual poem because a lot of it is garbled in Burroughs' mouth and with the music.
Tony didn’t see the killer in the final scene because he was behind AJ. AJ was being the reliable guide to death
@@Gotaperuviannecktie It’s reliable guide through the land of the dead. And in the last scene, AJ has an oddly nice moment where he tells his dad to remember the good times.
Love the scene with Meadow. But confused about the scene with AJ😅
same i didn’t get this whole thing but i just started watching sopranos lol
He’s in class fucking around. Basically that’s it lol
Adam Sandler with the fauxhawk in the thumbnail.
Interesting how Pontecorvo and his wife got the notice that his aunt left him with $2M and were celebrating.....little he knew that would complete his downfall to suicide...
What's crazy is that he wouldn't have given his family an exit In that horrible way if the 'Good guys' hadn't put the screws on him. Not exactly gonna give the feds a hard time about it, but still
1:18 - "The Guardian Angel," Yea, Tony's dead.
@jonathanbirch2022 "The Guardian Angel" had trouble parking her car and couldn't make it into the diner on time.
Meadow and soft drinks of choice.
Finn didn’t know what he had.
i think when the song ends with saying that carmela is the "remains" it implies that both AJ and tony die in the diner scene, aj probably tried to protect his dad from members only guy. so only carmela and meadow are left. also janice may have had something to do with tonys death (shes named as the director). she's tried to have him killed before, wouldnt put it past her after bobby got killed. she probably resented tony for it, and also wants his money.
Extremely interesting, and I also indeed believe that AJ would have obviously intervened
The last 10 episodes can be the 7. season...but officially these are in the 6. season.
There are 13 episodes per season except 6A which is 12 and 6B which is 9. They should have just called it S7, but they didn't.
"Energy power or light...presses the right button" as shown in Eugenes scene could be that his older brother or family member killed him in the end since because of Tony not letting him move to Florida! That the button that killed Tony metaphorically speaking!
"Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of American public?"
What's that mean?
What's that got to be with fucking everything
Just touching on one of the core themes of the show, namely, consumerism and materialism, and an audience's general desire to be entertained through drama, action and violence. You can never lose betting on it.
William Burroughs
Song name? PLEASE! :)
orrdoggery FUCK YEAH lol been waiting for that THANK YOU SIR!
Seven Souls
camilla knows theu killed adriana why she nightmares over it
And Tony never had making varsity boss😊
Doesn't the Actress who plays Janice remind you of Financial Guru Gal Vaz-Oxdale who helps people get out of debt.
You saying these lovable psychopaths aren't real?
Why does Janice look like she doesn’t even want the baby lol
This sequence is one of the most RANDOM fucking things they ever did on The Sopranos.
It's literally all foreshadowing. It's utter genius
@@yashailani9547The narrator sounds fucking drunk
I love it
@@Johnnysmithy24LMFAO
I don’t think this is the beginning of the end.
It’s a whole different story in Part 1 and Part 2.
They should have just called them season 6 and season 7.
just because it's not named season 6 and season 7 we can interpret it's the same story from first episode of season 6 till last episode of the series....
Damn I thought I was weird for being attracted to meadow, glad I ain’t alone
the heart, often treacherous. wonder if it would've been more appropriate to have ray die of a heart attack, his heart betraying him physically, as he betrayed tony.
MOLES! You got em too?
Meadow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😳🤌🏽
AJ was such a spa
What's gene celebrating?
His aunt died and left him $2 million.
Burroughs!
I liked Meadow better in the earlier seasons, before she lost weight.
+Greenblood60 Amen to that!
+Greenblood60 100x hotter here.
Yeah, she was at her peak in Season 4.
J Spiel
You like them skinny girls.
she became a bulimia and almost left the show.
The beginning of the final season.

1:13 I need a few things from the grocery
Do things alone now mostly
Left me heartbroken not lookin' for love
Surprise in my eyes when I looked above
The checkout counter and I saw her face
My heart stood still, so did time and space
Never felt that I could feel real again
But the look in her eyes said, "I need a friend"
She turned to me, that's when she said it
Looked me dead in the face, asked, "Cash or credit?"
And I
Jizzed in my pants
It's perfectly normal, nothing wrong with me
But we're going to need a cleanup on aisle three
And now I'm posed in an awkward stance
Because I jizzed in my pants
To be fair, you were flirting a lot
Plus the way you bag cans got me bothered and hot
Please, stop acting like you're not impressed
One more thing, I'm gonna pay by check
WTF are you on?
Jesus loves you God bless
01:15. Thank me later.
No chrissy
Aj was just the worst
How is Janice young enough to give birth?
I just finished sopranos and i remember this intro was too esoteric for me lmao. I guess AJ, Tony and either Meadow or Carmella get whacked in the end. Still not sure who ordered the hit - David Chase probably has a fat iq
Butch does with patsy as the new boss of NJ
feels like a GTA trailer
Watch Netflix - Untold: Crimes and Penalties about the Danbury Trashers Hockey Team. They modelled Tony Soprano after Jimmy Galante (waste disposal empire) and his son A.J. and their exploits. Truth is stranger than fiction and was most likely also the inspiration for the movie Goon, as there are so many parallels - Art imitating Life. Like reading the comments and the interpretations. Love listening to the album by Material, especially driving. Everyone keep well.
F*** Netflix with that woke sh*t.
imma be honest this makes no sense
What about it ?
Go back to eating grilled cheese of the radiator
