    Hey guys!
    Here's our third episode from our 'Focus on Sound' series here at Regent Sounds, where we got our hands on Fender's highly anticipated Player Series. We played one of the new Stratocasters and a Telecaster through a pair of Fender Blues Junior Mark IV amps, which - together - sounded amazing. Amps were mic'd up with the sE V7 series dynamic mics, and room signal blended in through a sE Z5600a II. As always, plug in your favourite headphones and speakers, and turn it up, to get a taster of the tones we were hearing in the room!
    Hope you enjoyed this video, and feel free to leave us your thoughts on these beautiful new guitars in the comments section. Together with what you might like to see in future videos!
    Until next week... :)

    One major upgrade of the Player Strat that I love is the fact that they wired the bridge pickup to a tone control, much like the American series. I find it very useful!

    Just got this Strat in the same color. It may be called Sonic Red, but the shop that I got it from had a Fiesta Red Strat hanging right next to it, and it's the same color. The best playing and sounding Strat I've ever played or owned, beating even my Am Pro with V-Mod pickups, my CP 60s with CS 69s, and my Deluxe Roadhouse with Texas Specials.

      Your video (among others) made this Strat sound so good, that's why I decided I had to go check it out. When I went into my local dealer, the only one they had with a PF board was the red one, which was the color I wanted. It was destiny!

    Great Video! Thanks. Really surprised with the Player series, they are exceptionally good value for the money! I went to the store a few days ago to actually try out the Elite RW, fantastic guitar and I prefered the neck to the Pro series, just felt better the Elite in my hands. Then I asked the shop guy to try a maple neck, and he handed me a guitar with no tags, great neck, felt really easy to play, different pickups to the Elite but really nice guitar that I asked him which guitar is this and he said, its the player series! I was gobsmacked lol Saw your video on the Pro series too, thanks!

    Hello Adam, Thank You for sharing an informative video. I recently for a fender Mexican player strat Maple with SSS Config. This is the first time I am experiencing a fender instrument. I am quite delighted to have it and ordered it online from a well-reputed site. I have a quick query. I am a bit concerned about the instrument I got and here is my observation regarding its Volume management. I feel that it sounds low on volume. At volume, 1-3 it's barely audible, 4-5 a little audible between 6-7 it's satisfactory and at 9-10 it gives a considerable output. I am connecting my guitar with amp directly. My amp is Marshall 15CD Series 45 Watts. If I plug my old strat Aria STG series at 3-4 it gives the output what Fender gives at 8-10. The bottom line is if i have to play for practice it has to be between 6-7 minimum or 8-10 while playing along with backing tracks. I wanted to know this is the nature of a fender product/pickups or something else is wrong with my new guitar. I would appreciate if you can please advise.

    • @AdamLeeGuitarist
      @AdamLeeGuitarist  5 років тому +2

      Hey there! First off, thank you for watching! Nothing is wrong with your guitar. Another thing to note, is that changing the volume on your guitar, and using this to gauge how loud you practice, isn't really what the guitar's volume knob is for. The knob is to alter the tone of the guitar, by changing the amount of guitar signal feeding into the amp's input, and thus affecting how the amp responds to the guitar (if you have an overdrive engaged, lowering the guitar's volume will typically dull the sound, and clean it up a bit, for example). So if you wish to make the level of your practice quieter, you should alter the master volume on the amp. Second off, what you report is totally normal. The Player Strat pickups are not super high output, and this is what lends to their superb tone. They are detailed, and dynamic, and you shouldn't gauge the volume of the guitar compared to an Aria or another instrument. It will be different, and this is totally normal. As for the differences between the various increments being tiny at 1-3, then suddenly getting louder - this is also totally normal. This to do with the taper on the guitar's pots. It probably isn't linear. Which isn't an issue, once you learn where the volume spikes on the guitar. But if it is annoying to you, you can always take the guitar to a technician who can install linear-taper volume and tone pots for you, where the increase will be even from 0-10. But again, don't get too caught up in this. It won't change the tone of the guitar, merely the response of the volume and tone knobs. In short, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your new guitar, and it's behaving just the way it should be. We are still amazed by just how good the Player Series is from Fender, and want to congratulate you on buying a great instrument. And I'd also like to say thank you for watching, and I hope you subscribe to stay tuned for our latest videos. There are plenty more on the way! Hope that helps! :)

    • @myhomestudio3406
      @myhomestudio3406 5 років тому

      Hi Adam, Thank You for the detailed and a speedy response. This is what I was looking for as I am fairly new to using Fender. Also, as you talked about the pickups we have alnico 5 in this case which lowers the output so that it gives warm and a balanced tone which can too compensate the need for compressors. On the other hand, these are logarithmic volume pots which do not behave sequentially in the series of 0-10. To be more precise the amp Master volume is at 2 o clock, Bass 12 o clock, Treble 3 o clock, and Contour 3 o clock which are set at higher levels now I gradually try to increase the volume on my guitar whether that is for loudness or desired tone quality so, between 1-3 of range its really low on volume, 4-6 is ideal for practice but range of the loudness remains within the room, 7-10 is good for jamming or playing around the backing tracks. Thanks again for the clarification and your wishes as I am really delighted to have Fender in my lifetime. You are subscribed.

    Sounds great, but how does it feels? Does anyone know? I just really want to buy a guitar which sounds and feels great and kind of professional. You said player series sounds very close to the American profecional is it really so?

    • @AdamLeeGuitarist
      @AdamLeeGuitarist  5 років тому +1

      Hi Roman - I would say it feels brilliant. It's a fast-feeling, slick-playing guitar, with a modern-feeling neck, to my fingers. At least for a Strat. But it's comfortable - a truly brilliant sounding guitar! I'd say this is close to the Pro, but the latter had a smoother tonal signature, overall. This is a more traditional sounding Stratocaster, whereas the Pro is perhaps a more modern, balanced-sounding guitar. Both are brilliant. For the money, the Player probably compares to an older American Standard that Fender might have put out, many years ago. They're seriously good guitars!

    Hello, I just but this Fender Player series Telecaster with Pau Ferro fretboard. I have learned that to get Twang out of any telecaster I need pedals: Reverb, Compression, and fast or tight Delay. I do not have these pedals, so I have tried all sorts of settings on my amp, and I just don't hear any Twang on my 2018 Fender Player SeriesTelecaster with solid Alder body, Pau Ferro fingerboard, and two passive Alnico Single coil pickups. QUESTION 1: Is it the Telecaster guitar metal plate and pickups that gives Twang, or just the pedals that give the Twang? QUESTION 2: If it is just the pedals, then would I get Twang out of my Stratocaster using these pedals? QUESTION 3: I also see on UA-cam see DiMarzio Twang King Tele Pickups giving a lot of Twang with just a clean channel and no pedals, so do they actually give a Twang sound, or is that just an advertising gimmick for their pickups?
