I got the book by you as a gift and I am now a big fan of you. I’m Polish 🇵🇱 too and I hope to move to Japan 🇯🇵 in the future so I find you very inspiring.
i can't tell you how happy I was to see a new video from you in my subscription feed ~ only just had the chance to watch it, but really felt like a breath of fresh air, hope you've been doing well!
Bro watching you paint with watercolors is, imo, the best content of your channel. I hope you do more. I hope you are planning to make another video series like the Tokio at night. That was soooo good!!!!
Hi Mat. Marialena's here. The paper that you like so much in the Stillman & Birn ZETA is actually a Bristol plate type of paper which is super cheap to buy in loose sheets and bind it yourself in any kind of sketchbook. I don't know though why it works the way it does with the Inktense paints that are supposed to be intense as their name indicates. In fact these paints are made of some sort of dyes mixed with acrylic like binder and that is the reason why they dry waterproof. The crafter community use them to paint on fabric with very bright and interesting results. Whatever is the case the Inktense paints that look paler on the Bristol paper is one of these things that only you would be able to find! lol It is like the Evolution Bic pencils case ! It seems that you attract the odd combinations. I don't know how you find such tricky things! Anyway... your sketches are great though a few of them came out a bit too "busy". I mean that the foliage areas were way too detailed as for example the one with the arch/ gate with the shrine in the middle. I think that a "unifying" light wash over the whole foliage areas would bring the whole thing together and would separate the foreground from the background. I really liked the sketch where you used the markers. Interesting experiment and great results. What kind of markers did you use in this sketch? The urbanscapes and the interiors are your field of expertise. Talking about interiors, I think that you have to try on this particular sketchbook a sketch with your custom inks. Like the one that you've done on of your previous videos. This one: ua-cam.com/video/v1y7HCGh8uA/v-deo.html Give it a try. I think that inks will look great on the Bristol paper.
The Zeta and Epsilon skerchbooks are tied for my favorite from Stilman and Birn, with the Delta being a pretty close runner up. Glad to see you like it too! Your art looks really crisp and clean in the sketchbooks, they're so pretty! It's cool to see the G nib fountain pen in action! I remember back when everyone was modding Jinhao pens to hold a g nib. I ended up just sticking to using it in a holder because my Zebra nibs all rusted 😔 It's cool to see how far science (and 3d printing) has come on that front! I might need to give this one a go
So far, it has been doing OK. I like that I can just pick it up and draw or take it outside. (so said drawing outside with a dip pen would look totally badass ;) )
I love this new project of yours! Are you going to make a printed version of the book as well? I prefer it to the digital, and it will pass great to the collection of your other books! ^^ Greetings from Bulgaria! 😀
Thanks! As this is just a side project (just a way for me to make my sketchbook stuff available) and I want to update it later, there will probably not be a printed version for now. But maybe some of the pieces will end up in a future printed compilation book like the "Okuradashi" album.
Thanks for the video. I really enjoyed it. May I ask for you experience with using Inktense? I have just started using these and am very excited to learn more. Thanks.
So far, I like them. The paints are not for everything, but when I want this Instagram-filter-like look, they work very nicely. I also appreciate the waterproofness (not 100%, sadly), which allows me for more free layering. So I can paint a shadow on top of something I already have. To be honest, though, if I was only after the waterproofness after drying, I would go for color, waterproof inks maybe, as they are REALLY waterproof when dry.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. 😀 I was attracted by the waterproofness when I bought. So far only tried out 2 postcard size paintings … still learning 😊
your art is the reason I started drawing 7 years ago! you're a big inspiration to me

Świetnie, że znowu nadajesz! Zaintrygował mnie ta stalówka G ale bardziej w kontekście kaligrafii. Przypomina stalówki typu flex.
