Exactly. The vaccine for monkeypox has been around for a while, and yet while monkeypox has been circulating in humans in western Africa for about 5 years now, we could have controlled this with vaccinations and nipped this in the bud.

Since I'm an old who got the smallpox vaccine I should be good? The CDC website didn't make it completely clear that being vaccinated decades ago would still *definitely* give protection.

Because it would not be correct to say so. There is an expectation that some protection will be afforded, even that can not definitely be said to be the case.

Monkeypox is airborne. Its primary vector is physical contact and fomites -- and it can last for _weeks_ outside of the body -- but it _can_ be transmitted by aerosolized droplets. It's almost the reverse of SARS-COV-2, which is primarily airborne, but _can_ transmit via fomites.

I was born in North America.
When I lived in other parts of the world I still cared what happened at home because of my loved ones. Moved back to stay near them during these odd times.
I simply don't have the bandwidth to care about other places if what happens there doesn't affect me or those I care about. If you do have the bandwidth, that's great. If you have the resources or the expertise to help those affected, even better.
I don't go around making others feel bad about not caring about what they don't care about. Instead, I maintain my vaccinations, test myself regularly, wear my PPE, and conduct good hygiene.

It's accurate to state this is affecting the gay community more, but it affects everyone the same way and focusing on this could lead to homophobia or ignoring the impact on other communities. (i.e. bi/pan/similar people) If it's in your area, what is first most important is how it's spread and symptoms.
You still have a good point, treatment and prevention resources especially should be available to the gay community. It's still good to talk about, but I think including homosexuals in a treatment/prevention context is more appropriate than a general "what is it and who's at risk" video
