Thank god the show actually get good writers during the second season and get good animation also as you can tell i prefer the 2nd season over the first season
I think that the first season was underfunded and made by people who just wanted to sell some toys, second season is on the level of quality as X men and Spiderman. The two seasons are basically different shows!
I wouldn't go as far as to put season 2 on the same level of quality as X-Men and Spiderman but definitely a step in that direction. Storytelling, voice acting and music were still much better and consistent in the Spiderman and X-Men series. I would definitely put it above the Iron man show because they had better villains and more appearances from other Marvel superheroes(practically every episode).
The Invisible woman is one of my favourite characters of the marvel universe, she is brave is caring, loving, courageous and isn’t a pushover. I hate how many of her adaptions make her a damsel in distress or a stereotypical blonde! I feel like the first season did this a bit!😅😅😅😖😖

As for why this show got canceled, I don't have an absolutely definitive answer. But it wouldn't surprise me if the show lost a lot of good will due to the subpar first season. Season 2 was obviously, Marvel's way to "course correct" but it was probably a case of "too little too late". Many people probably weren't made aware immediately of the improvements to the show. It didn't help that Fantastic Four was a syndicated show instead of being on a network like the X-Men and Spider-Man shows or even the Incredible Hulk show could afford with Fox and UPN respectively. The problem with syndication is that after a station buys the show, they could in theory, air it at virtually any time of their choosing. So sometimes, a show can air really early in the morning or smack in the middle of the afternoon.

I didn't want to nitpick but you say it so much I had to :) I have a little knowledge of this show - I was in college recording it on VHS when it aired. The only reason why there even WAS a second season was because Marvel's deal stipulated a 2-season committment, which they got off of the brand strength from the then-current hits X-Men TAS and Spider-Man TAS. And they screwed it up majorly with the corny season 1 tone and even worse, bargain basement animation which was shockingly bad for 1995, especially for marquee characters/shows. 2nd season, they fired everyone, brought on Tom T and Larry - but the damage was done. The first season poisoned the well - and I don't know about other markets, but in Minneapolis area where I watched it on Fox 29 (aired right after Fox's main line up; it was syndicated so aired at different days/times in diff markets), they didn't even update the promo materials. Actually, The Inhumans originated with the Fantastic Four back in the 1960s as did Silver Surfer. So they're really not "crossover" characters. Speaking of the 1960s animated version of the Fantastic Four, that was an especially egregious adaptation (not adaption) as I think it was slapped together by criminally heinous animators at Hanna-Barbera.

I totally agree about the casting choices for the main 4. Did you notice that, between Season 1 and 2, the actors seemed like they were finally able to convey believable emotion? By the way, as much as I overall hate Season 1 for wasting time with stupid bullshit when it could be spending the runtime on the actual story, I actually think it's at its best when it leans into how absolutely fucking terrible it is. I think that overall the second season is waaaay better than the first one , but theres one thing i dont like about it, the theme song. Unlike Iron Man TAS, the second theme is a downgrade, a big one at that. It just sounded bland af and there was nothing really good about it, it sounded *too* serious for my liking. at least the 1st one had a lot of charm for being cachy af, and it didnt take itself too seriously. I think season one is okay, but season two is very good. I don't love it, but I still like it a lot. My favorite superhero comics are the original 60's Fantastic Four comics. Even if season one wasn't amazing or anything, it was still accurate. And while I like season two theme song, I love season one's. I also love the voices. But I do wish they had their 60's costumes.
