Great to see a True mechanic at work! Diagnosis is KEY, and unfortunately, many mechanics lack this skill. Re the charging for the work, I agree it is a skill that is developed and should be amply rewarded. A simple way is to have a minimum cost for diagnosis eg (30 / 45 / 60 minutes @ xx $ ) so at least the customer KNOWS they are up for that cost and the mechanic does not have to 'fabricate' a story about how long it took. Great TRUST is built on the back of great (affordable) Service :) Word of Mouth is worth GOLD!!
This is actually an amazing video, what an excellent job at testing and diagnosing it perfectly. Imagine if all mechanics were as good. They all tend to replace parts without being sure at all.
I have a Holden Barina. I did all diagnostics, checked for power on wire with test, power feed good. Put testlight across pins, test light indicated service cycles. Replaced Thermostat and Thermostat Block, including Coolant Temperature Sensor. Engine light has gone. Code 89 still comes up on Dash. OBD indicates Engine Code P0102 low Circuit. Cleaned MAP Sensor, no difference. MAF on OBD Scanner live Data MAF = Zero.
