    I flip my furnitures around every 2-3 months and have done it for as long as I can remember, even in my room as a kid. It’s crazy how it transforms the space and how you can create different moods to fit your emotions (I tend to have everything close together in the winter to make it warm and cozy, and more open space in the summer to have all the light)

    Instead of diving straight into 333,
    Do all your laundry and then put outfits together one by one, favorites first, and stop when you can’t find favorites anymore, and take a really critical look at a what’s left.
    (There will be outfits that use the same pieces, of course, just stack them together. I think of it like paper dolls a little bit)

      I believe it's a challenge designed to have you creat a wardrobe of 33 pieces to wear for 3 months? and then each 3 months you switch out pieces I think. and then it gives you a better idea of what clothes you like to wear and what you need vs what's extra

    I've been focusing on hobbies a lot. Painting, drawing, embroidery. Reading. I also play video games. Cleaning. Decluttering. One of those things usually helps to keep me from buying something. Pretty much anything to keep my mind and hands busy will do the trick!

    I've been challenging myself not to repeat any outfits, so I've been digging in the depths of my wardrobe 😂 bonus is that I'm also finding things that don't really fit or suit me anymore, so it's like the world's slowest declutter. I've also been finding new recipes to make, trying to maintain a daily yoga routine, meditating - oh, and also studying, I decided to do a degree by correspondence course so I've really been getting into that which keeps me busy!

    For my no buy year, I am going through each room of my house and decluttering down to maintenance mode where I only have to do a quick sweep through to keep it decluttered. So far the bedroom and bathroom are done and completely organized. Working through our scary spaces now-basement and garage. Goal being to turn our basement into a home gym-all of our gym equipment is scattered everywhere. And then we can drop our gym membership. Also reading all the books and using up all my craft supplies. The key is to be too busy to shop.

    However, that being said, I’ve needed to make some purchases!
    So painting is a good dopamine chase… I only use this little Wooster 2” paint brush with a flexy handle, I use it for everything. I try to keep my eyes open for Mistint or Oops paint.

    Furniture: I rearranged my whole condo a couple weeks ago. It's funny how just moving all your furniture around makes you enjoy your space more by changing your perspective. Wardrobe: I've been doing 15x30 challenges the last couple months. I feel like 333 wasn't quite challenging enough and somehow also too much time when I have a 4-season climate where the seasons aren't each 3 months long. My December and January wardrobes were very similar, so I'm going to have to try something different in February to see if I really have arrived at my "perfect" 15-20 pieces for winter. Obsessing over that as a fully subtractive process and in month-long chunks is keeping me from spending right now.

    My first month didn't go well at all. I spent much more than I had planned on stuff I didn't want to buy 😢 I really don't know how this happened. I was looking into the weather report, saw it was getting warmer and started panic-buying because I knew I would need some lighter sweaters ... But now I have FAR more than I need (sweaters, t-shirts, even a jacket!) and am out of ANY spending money for February. 😮 Onlineshopping be damned.

      @gracenevitt  3 місяці тому +4

      make sure your rules are locked and loaded!! if you're panic buying it's usually an issue of rules that are too lax. or possibly just a breakdown of will power :( either way, take this time to reflect on ways you can prevent this from happening!! if you feel like you NEED more clothes, try asking friends if they have anything they don't want, thrifting with a budget, or maybe just wait to see if you actually need them! the point of this challenge is to sit in the discomfort of wanting to buy something and giving the urge (or panic) some time to breathe. you got this!!

    Hi Grace!! Loved this video!. If you don't mind me giving (out of context) unsolicited advice 😊, I remember that you got a comment somewhere asking you to make short form content. I discourage this for a few reasons. I know that you are cautious of social media usage and short form content is both unsustainable for content creators and shortens our attention spans. Also, it does tend to reduce the number of views to long form content, which hurts creators in the long run. Not pressuring you, but wanted to make you aware of the downfalls of posting shorts. We love your long videos, especially when there's many things going on 😊 ❤. Would love for you to make a separate long video about gardening, plants, etc.

    • @gracenevitt
      @gracenevitt  4 місяці тому +1

      bottom watering is honestly ideal for post plants but it thoroughly soaks the soil, so it's best to wait to do it until the plant dries out a bit. and in terms of when you're watering, I wouldn't leave the plant in the water for more than an hour! by then it will have soaked all the water it needs :)

    • @gracenevitt
      @gracenevitt  3 місяці тому

      as mentioned in another comment: it's a challenge designed to have you creat a wardrobe of 33 pieces to wear for 3 months and then each 3 months you switch out pieces. it gives you a better idea of what clothes you like to wear and what you need vs what's extra. I can try to discuss all the minimalist wardrobe options when I do my wardrobe video in the next month or so (hopefully)

    I want to see short videos from you.
    Quick book reviews, quick bullet journal or lettering things, doodles. It was a pretty cool idea to rip the paper and paste it into your journal.
    You can make shorts pruning and caring for your plants. Use your asmr mic, and you don’t have to think about what you’ll say.
    And can you do some indoor herb/tiny veggie gardening? It’s something I want to start, but i don’t even know where to start. I’m thinking tiny salsa garden? Tomatoes, peppers, cilantro? But No Buying. So food scrap gardening??

    • @gracenevitt
      @gracenevitt  4 місяці тому +3

      I can do the herb gardening videos for sure!!! I didn't do anything last year and it was so sad😭 people will have to buy soil for that if they don't have it, but that should be fine if people are very interested!
      in terms of the short videos... I may try to do more of that on instagram?? I don't know why short form content is more intimidating to me LOL I also don't want my shorts feed or youtube feed to be annoying/too much! 😭

    • @dptfo
      @dptfo 4 місяці тому

      @@gracenevitt I don’t have instagram but I would definitely watch them here.
      The thing is, your viewers don’t think you’re annoying. So even if you just take clips from the videos you’ve already made, and make those into shorts, it might help you find more viewers, too, because some of us use UA-cam mostly for shorts. It’s quite the dopamine mine, with more substantial, generally less kitschy content than TikTok.

    • @dptfo
      @dptfo 4 місяці тому

      @@gracenevitt for example, the jazzy little clip you already made, where you ripped the paper and wrote “intentions 2024”, and then the final result (after you changed the page) you can stitch that clip into one video and even layer in different music to that and it’s fun to watch those pieces over and over because we can see that and do what you did and then bam, you’re an influencer in the purest sense of the term
      You don’t have to get fancy or think of new exciting ideas, because I really adore the simplicity of that,and of lots of the different things you’re doing.
      Your book shelf layout too

    • @dptfo
      @dptfo 4 місяці тому

      @@gracenevitt and especially your No Buy/ low buy Year video, like make it into a short, or several shorts even, explaining your example of green light, yellow light, red light items, using footage you already have, (even if it’s just text over some somewhat unrelated footage, and a voiceover kind of situation.)
      You have the aesthetic, you have the interest. You have the skills it takes to do it. You’re so clever, and so real, and we want your advice. We like your habitat, your vibes. But it’s the dopamine that brings us here. We all relate to you, because we have adhd, but we don’t have the focus or the patience all the time 😅 so we also really enjoy videos that are clean and succinct and satisfying

    • @dptfo
      @dptfo 4 місяці тому

      @@gracenevittI’m not saying that shorts should be your entire focus, because I really enjoy your long-form ones, but I’d like to see clips of the content you already have, or like a recap in the same style, same topics, so I can go back and revisit an idea or inspiration.
