I think it's safe to say that no modern cartoon is as important as Pendleton Ward's "Adventure Time." This series helped revitalize the Cartoon Network channel & brought animation back to the network's forefront. And now, 8 years after its premiere, the series has finally reached its conclusion. So, in today's episode of "A Brief History," we take a look at how Adventure Time went from a little Nicktoons Network short to one of the most innovative and creative shows in recent history.

@@draconix9296 he's happy because, if it would go on and have more seasons, like say, Spongebob, the writers would run out of ideas and be exhausted and AT would become really not as good as it used to be. So yeah, they did a good decision by ending it soon and on a goos note.

Adventure time sparked many shows such as regular show, steven universe, The amazing world of gumball Etc... But then when cartoon network thought it was a good idea to create teen titans go and air it like 147 times a week thats when cartoon netork crumbled along with the ending of adventure time, regular show and the start of the powerpuff girls reboot... Cartoon network should learn.. dont reboot something good...

The only amazing reboots Ive seen are Scooby Doo Mystery Inc and Ducktales. Reboots can be done well definitely but if you take something plot-driven and make it non-sensical like they did to Teen Titans, ultimately it will flop
This is also true to more modern animated shows such as Phineas And Ferb, Family Guy, Gravity Falls, The Loud House, Bobs Burgers and Rick & Morty.

Yes, Adventure Time is the most important cartoon of the 2010s, if it wasn't for that show, I probably wouldn't be watching cartoons anymore, but because of it, I understood that cartoons intended for kids could be so much more, I would not have watched Avatar: The Last Airbender, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Regular Show, The Amazing World of Gumball and more if it hadn't been for this show, and each of these shows stand right along my favorite shows like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, and they deserve that, just as much as those shows do, and that is a fantastic thing to be able to say, as cartoons are an artform that is seen as unimportant, but now it's becoming more mature, with a world that is artistic and complex, with representation in race, gender and sexuality being explored, which would be nearly unheard of previously. Adventure Time's legacy is one that cannot be denied, and while its run suffered from being too long, I do believe that ever episode is special in some way, and each time I watch one, I fall in love with what they have done to the industry. Salute Adventure Time.
I feel the exact same, I stopped watching cartoons a few years before I stumble on a youtube video about the lore of Adventure Time. I couldn't believe my eyes, and to think this kinds of kids cartoon shows could have such amazing storytelling while also being so lighthearted. And funny, its just something that you don't really see much in adult programming because everything has to be violence, sex and drugs. Its really something to just relax and dive into this amazing worlds with the family.

I feel like adventure time and the regular show started a new theme and era on Cartoon Network,i will always love those shows ,they were perfect for me, they weren’t just regular shows! They were deep and interesting and had good humor! I cant wait to feel this nostalgia as i grow old...cartoon network is and will always be the best network,from courage,to fosters home,total drama, code lyoko and totally spies all those shows were so good and i miss them.

I miss adventure time it was a great show to watch I started watched this series sometime in the year it was launched and when I saw the first episode and kept watching more and more come out I was enjoying the series and later I forgot about adventure time and soon after I was looking into random things I found out adventure time was ending and my first impression was like shocked later I came to understand it wasn’t really that shocking because a show that aired for like 8 years it was obviously going to end,Adventure Time......I.....will....miss.....you ;(

21 seasons
A lot of shows (at least American shows) die after/around the 4th season. Look at Spongebob, which turned into a rotting pile of crap after the first movie - people tend to leave after 5 years on one show, and so ideas either get recycled or the show's tone changes for the worse. Amazingly, Adventure Time stayed strong, and when (or even if) it hit a low, it wasn't as bad as most shows where they don't recover.

I watched the whole show a week or two ago, and the finale _really_ got to me. Like, I've watched and liked adventure time for years, but around season 5, I just stopped watching. So when I finally finished it, I just teared up and cried like a little baby. When the "Come along with me" song started playing, to be specific.

I don't think you were exaggerating when you said that adventure time was the most important cartoon of 2010. Like you said many beloved cartoons basically owe their existence to adventure time. It was a cartoon that completely changed storytelling in animated TV shows. I'm pretty sure that in 3010 or someplace like that where kids are sat reading their 21st century history books (or holographic novels) they're going to read about adventure time and all the amazings shows that came after it and think 'damn I wish I was alive to see that'.

@@lonelyvariety 95% of the episodes are on youtube in 3 parts so just go on wiki to see the list of adventure time episodes and type them in. I missed 3 seasons of it and hadn't seen the show in 2 years but I was able to catch up on all the main and kinda main episodes in 1 and a half days wth some time to recap on some old ones. After I saw the come along with me song on yt by accident i literally just started watching.
Adventure time moments has good 3 part episodes but 10% of the vids automatically buffer every 4 seconds for 2 seconds. There's a foreign name ytuber with foreign subs who have the best ones. Don't go looking for these channels, just look out for them when you search episodes up.

I kind of stopped watching after season 2 but now that I know its over I feel like a part of me has died. I remember watching it so much as a kid and getting ready for the next episode on 'Meaty Mondays' with my brother.

I'm honestly sososososo glad that this was made because Adventure Time has been a MASSIVE part of me and my childhood growing up. I started watching when it came out and cried SO hard when it ended but in some ways, I'm glad that it did because if it didn't I think that a lot of people would've strayed away from it. This video made me cry and it is super awesome! I'm actually tearing up right now. This was history, and I saw it all(almost). Excellently explained, bravo to you and bravo to Pen.
I remember watching this show when i was 6 years old and in kindergarden and loving it. At the time i had a teacher that discourage creativity so she ripped up my adventure time drawings and she kinda discourage me. Though she did do that, the show maintained my imagination for shows and i started drawing again in middle school. I love this show and this show and regular show have helped me going thru some rough times. When i saw the final episode, i started crying because i knew that this the last of a revolutionary animation golden age i had the pleasure to grow up with (now im 14). I wish the rest for penaltan ward and the rest of the crew for new adventures and bright futures. Im gonna miss this show. Goodbye adventure time

This was one of the most remarkable shows ever made, can be compared with simpsons easly. From this show came out a bunch of other shows in the same line and style.
I had so much fun watching this whole serie, and I will miss it so much.. And I am 27 years old... lol the humor touched me really hard, and even BMO cute scenes made me feel a children again.
