My 86 year old hubby decided he wanted to grow tomatoes I said ok if you think you know how (I have been the gardener and grower of toms, beans for years ) but he thinks he can do it as good only for him to say, oh can you plant the seeds I bought 🥹😩any way I have done them,my daughter said you should know you would be dragged into doing it all., I replied I did. 🙃😡

Nice video Tilly. You might want to add some water when you get done adding all of your stuff, from what I have seen on some homesteading videos. I love your videos!

Thank you so much!! You don't need to add water to these Hotbins, I do in my regular compost bin though.

The handle of a paint roller makes a perfect stirrer tool. You can buy long handled ones.

I've been super excited for your gardening videos! Yay! V. Jealous of your fancy composter. I just have a dalek one and a couple of bins with holes drilled in them.

I've been out sowing a few seeds in the beds today!! 👏👏👏 I have 3 bays made out of pallets for my regular composting, and yesterday I turned it, so that's progressing nicely too.

Never seen this before, but the base is certainly needed, seen rats burrowing under the warmth of one of my older composter(on the soil). The expanded polystyrene is ideal for offsetting the smaller compost pile. (interested in the rotation period in the year (grass is always a bugbear )) 🙂
My two wormery 's do a lot of the house waste, so much so, the bin men are worried and taken to hunting ! 😄

Doing as much in 1 go often causes issues - do little and often. Small amounts every other day is the best for keeping the temperature high for a long period.

    • @rootofavalon3841

That's great advice, thanks Tony! I did move on to doing little and often and it is definitely a better way of keeping it hot.
