      Nice video Mike, but I don't understand that allmost the same triggersystem of R-drums cost twice as much? It's a pitty Wronka doesn't make them anymore! They look so good and durable!👍👍👍

    Now that’s a thing of beauty Mike , properly made and thought about not over engineered at all . Love it . Great vid thanks 👍

    Thanks for making this video. I liked the part where you could see it in action. I would have never thought that the ring has such an effect. The system is very smart. You could actually use it for 10, 8 and 6 lug bass drums. This is an engineering masterpiece.

      Yes, it is. I've just talked with Jörg Wronka, he considers to start building his bass drum trigger systems again.

      Really hope he starts again, this trigger is amazing!

      Mike said on Facebook that Jörg Wronka is thinking about continuing. He also said that he has some in stock.

    Thank you Mike. I hope someday to use an acoustic kit with triggers.

    That looks ROCK SOLID. This is my only issue with my Jobeky kick... All the other drums have a rock solid support for the triggers on the Jobeky kit... the kick not so much. I don't mean to complain about Jobeky... I absolutely LOVE my kit. I'm simply saying that I'd like to see the kick triggers built into the drum as solid as this is. Great review! I might have to talk to Colin about giving this "style" of kick trigger a go.

      Hey Jay, yeah, it's solid as a rock ;) Of course it's slightly more expensive than Jobeky, but as a said: it'll probably last forever. But I'm pretty much sure Colin will find a solution.

    Good detailed review Mike. I liked how you expanded on the ring design and function. Disappointing the Wronka is no longer available. I've seen R-Drums design. Just a bar. Need to look closer at that. Again, appreciate your contributions... it's inspiring.

      Thanks a lot, Kevin! Well, after uploading the video I talked to Jörg Wronka, the engineer who used to build this system. He still has some systems in stock and he considers to start building this system again. I highly suggested him to do that. ;)

    Hi, Luke. I know this is an old post but have a question.
    Bought a used Wronka Bass 10 and I wonder how you got rid of the trampoline effect. After mounting the Wronka with instructions from Jörg I have a kickbeater that bounces all over the place. I’m not always burying the beater but I want to have the option depending on the song and so on.
    I use a 22” Drum-Tec Design 2-ply Mesh head and Drum-Tec impact-patch (The one that’s a little thicker). Tama Speed Cobra with Tamas plastic beaters that comes with the speed cobra.
    Thanks and Mit freundlichen grußen
    Henrik

      Hi Henrik. I know this effect. From what I remember … they key here is to loosen your head and the position of the Wronka sytem itself. The tighter you tune your head, the bouncier it gets. Additionally, you should slightly change the position of the Wronka system. Try to set it a touch further back into the shell. Or even cut the cushion so that it gets smaller in order to put it further back into the shell. It‘s hard to tell from a distance, but I think the foam cushion might be too much outside, hence your beater is bouncing.

      Hi, Mike. Many thanks for your reply. What I did to get rid of the bounce was that I, like you say, moved the whole trigger further back in the shell. I also disassembled the steel damping ring and screwed it back in place but removed the ”rubbergaskets”. So now, the damping ring has no contact with the meshhead and only the piezo with the foam-cone is touching the head. This gave me a lot more headroom to tune the meshhead for my taste and feel. Also have my beaters off-set so I don’t hit the piezo-cone directly. Also, I cut out a fitting piece of high density foam that fits the inside snugly of my 22” and made a 20 cm diameter hole in the middle of it to get that mylar feel and now being able to bury the beater when I want. The Wronka-system is very versatile and can be adjusted To the players liking. Unbeatable, super stable and very reliable. Do you still use yours, Mike?

    Would that foam work for a double bass tho? Would it be wide enough?

      Yes, it will work.

    i'm starting to think having an inner ring inside the bass drum is the best way to reduce the bounce of the head by reducing the surface that resonates from the hit. When you play a roland kick tower, the beater never bounces back when you hit it, and that's the way it should be (like on an acoustic drum). I'm assuming the inner ring is just touching the mesh head and the foam cone protrudes 1-2 mm outwards from the ring?

    • @MikeLuke
      @MikeLuke  6 років тому

      Yes, you are right. That's exactly the way this trigger system is built. Beside that, the mesh head is tuned pretty loose, so there's hardly any bouncing effect from a too tight mesh head and that my beater can bury into the head. However, the drum-tec pro S series is still the best kick drum I've ever played.

    Hi, Mike. Have you ever seen whats inside Drum Tec Pro series bassdrum? It's just a metal plate, foam(glued on top of that [plate) and one cone trigger.

    • @MikeLuke
      @MikeLuke  6 років тому +1

      Yes, I did. You'll even find some pics if you google it. Or try this link ... it's a German review, but you'll see some pics of the snare and kick trigger ... www.sticks.de/equipment/drum-tec-pro-serie-padset-im-test/

      You said Drum Tec Pro series bassdrum feels best to play. Is that correct?

    • @MikeLuke
      @MikeLuke  6 років тому +1

      Yeah, they even have the drum-tec Pro S Series ... it’s still the best electronic kick drum I‘ve ever played

      I'm starting new project with my Yamaha stage custom acoustic drums. Will try to convert them to proper made electronic drums. And i want to start from bass drum. If you interested I can send you some pictures of that process :) Soon...

    Thank you, great reviev! But how does the ring affect the the noise level? would it be quiter without it?

    • @MikeLuke
      @MikeLuke  6 років тому

      I'm not sure. I mean, this system is not really loud anyways. But yeah, it maybe more quiet without it.
