If you’re wondering if Montenegro is worth visiting then take a look at this video. I’ll introduce you to the most amazing places & best things to see whilst travelling in Montenegro - one of the most underrated countries in Europe & the perfect place to holiday away from the crowds! Hopefully this and my subsequent vlogs in the series will show you the true beauty and magnificent scenery Montenegro has to offer.
There are so many highlights in Montenegro it's hard to choose between them so I hired a car and set about finding the top things to do in the Kotor area - all whilst vlogging the experience and enjoying my road trip around the country. Travelling Montenegro and discovering so many spectacular places gave me a real sense of adventure and inspired me to think about other road trips in the Balkans!
Montenegro has it all! Beautiful beaches, stunning landscapes, breathtaking mountains and a lot of history - much of which can be explored through abandoned fortresses, fortified towns, tiny fishing villages and remote mountain trails. It's a godsend to those of us who love the great outdoors!
My self-planned road trip took me through Lake Skadar National Park, Sveti Stefan, Budva, Tivat, Kotor, Lovcen National Park, Podgorica and much more. Come and take a Montenegro holiday with me - it's going to be one heck of a road trip and quite possibly the adventure of a lifetime!

Montenegro is my favourite too! Spent three months last year - then again the beginning of 2024. Herceg-Novi is my special place.
That's incredible - three months? You must REALLY like it!! It's a spectacular place with so much to see and do, and it's pretty much off the tourist trail for the most part.

It feels interesting that you visited so many places I have been too. I loved Montenegro though it is little odd ball among other countries. I had to push there with car from all the way from Belgrad as it is not very accessible country by plane. However I loved the drive though it took one full day each direction. I was there 2017. Where have all the years gone.. 😳
Where does the time go? I often wonder the same thing, it's scary how quickly the years pass isn't it? Montenegro is unbelievable in many respects, I loved my visit and hopefully some of these landscapes were familiar to you! Road trip from Belgrade sounds awesome! Ride on!!
Hola! 2:15...did u get down from the little church in dark after sunset? Is it safe.. I'm femlae solo traveller planning to go there end of this month
I had a rental car so drove down and then onwards to Budva. The roads leading down were quiet and narrow - ideally you don't want to be walking down them in the dark on your own but I really can't comment on if it's safe or not. Maybe get a taxi back to the town? Hope that helps.
How much did the petrol cost you for that week of travel around the montenegro?
I can't remember unfortunately but not too much. Even though I visited a lot of places many of them are inside a fairly small area.
