They are perfect machines for that kind of music i think. It's just that people maybe assimilate those to groove box machines, and then electro/techno stuff... :)
Wow I did not expect this. I was listening this on my headphones while I was on my bed and I was in a dreamworld or something. My imagination went nuts. Amazing.
Kinda reminds me of the old "deep forest" tracks that had ambient gated or chopped vocal samples in some of their tracks.... Love it... Really has a vibe to it
i've been sifting through loads of OT videos, and this is one of the few that i left on in the background and forgot i was researching and instead, felt like i was listening to music. you got more?
i listened through all your sound cloud tracks :o i've never done that before. its very inspiring seeing where you were 5 years ago and what you're making now. your old stuff is consistant with your newer stuff but its evovled and deepened i think. so cool! i'd love to see how you build a track from the ground up!
thank you very much. Five year ago, i did not have my elektron gears. I was using mainly Ableton live on a computer. 10 years ago, i was using some doepfer equipments, a virus, a korg. 15 years ago, an old Akai sampler , SH101... but you are right, it does not matter the machines i use, i follow a constant line to my mind. Where do you live ?
i live in new zealand. I only jumped into the synth game 5 years ago. every new synth i buy or try my style and influence seems to drift far from what it was haha. octatrack is my latest purchase so im once again leaning into new musical territory. which is good. it drives me forward
Hi, great work! Love the mood and how you mixed the stuff together. I'm an absolte Octatrack beginner and I would like to ask you for a favour. I really like the drumsmix on track 7 but I din't manage doing something like that. Is there a chance, to forward track seven plus samples to me? Sure i want too much...Thank you for your time
really great ambient soundscapes here! do you use a flex or a thru track to record the incoming audio? it seems you don't have any "click" problems with the octa.
thanks. in this track samples come from outside (loaded in the octa via usb). No click problem in this track, because i searched a good loop point in my sounds. I have this problem sometimes. But when i record using the flex machine, i don't have it. I set up the micro fade in /fade out in the record menu. It does not work for you ?
Thank you. It's simple. My octatrack is the master. There's a midi cable from MIDI OUT (octa) to MIDI IN (a4). For the audio, the 2 outputs of A4 go into A/B input of the Octatrack. That's it.
+dakitanmonkey thank you thank you thank you so much...I just saw this comment.....didn't see notification.....ps....why don't you make an ambient track that is like at least an hour long...:) :)
to keep it simple, the octa takes care of the rythm + noises + voices + some pads. A4: noise + pad. You may ask more specificly on a sound, i will give you details.
dakitanmonkey cool . ok so i make similar music and i have seen the octa in a couple of videos . i was just tryin to see if i need it more than want . lol is it worth the big price tag ? thanks for the sub by the way . i have loads of video ideas in the works .
TheMRPaperPenguin I forst got the A4, 2 years ago. And after that the Octa, and now i've got a monomachine too. The octatrack is the master piece of my equipment: it's my mixer, my master track effect processor, my sequencer, and of course the wonderfull sampler. I make my own samples (from voices i recorded, or sounds), and the octa give me all the power i need to do what you can hear on my channel. Before Elektron machines, i was using ableton live. Now i don't use computer anymore, and i work the same way i was doing on Live. Perfect for me. Octatrack is very hard to well understand and see the potential at the begining, you may be discouraged...but once you understand it, it's a new world for making music :), at least for me.
TheMRPaperPenguin To give you an example of the way i'm working with the octa, watch this simple/quick tutorial i've made : ua-cam.com/video/HQbHKodNCcI/v-deo.html
dakitanmonkey cool now i understand more about how it works . i think i will stick with what i have for now just for cost reasons . thanks for the help . peace
Hey man i have exactly the same setup. How are you using the two? i notice the A4 sequencer isn't running so are yo sequencing everything on A4 from Octatrack via midi? Cheers
Hi. The A4 sequencer is running, it's just that it is in perf mode, so you don't see the sequence running. I never drive the A4 from the Octatrack. I think it's easier to manage the 2 machines separatly.
dakitanmonkey thanks for the reply mate. I love your sessions, it really inspired me to get this setup. Your stuff sounds so organic. WO are you using octatrack as a drum machine and sample player, and A4 for pads, bass etc?
Thank you. I've got no rules. Sometimes the octatrack does all, sometimes a small part (rythm or not). The same for the A4. For the pads, i use both. I've just received my Digitakt...i will add it to my setup very soon :)
I had the digitakt for 2 days mate and exchanged it for the A4. I didn't get on with it. I found too much overlap with Octatrack and because my muscle memory is dialled into Octa I found it tricky to implement the two
@@dakitanmonkey Fallait pas supprimer le topic Elektronauts ^^' Je me demandais quel était le work de l'A4 dans tout ça... Ca fait vraiment très GAS hein... Très très agréable...
Good to see you have your priorities right, buying synths instead of furniture. Nice music too!
Thanks you.
amazing good sounding work!
cool to see the octal & A4 in that kinda music in action!

I have an Octatrack collecting dust that I can't wrap my head around, but watching your stuff makes me want to find time for it.
Go go go. Publish your tracks. Where are you living ? if you need help.
man octatrack is so rewarding to learn.. get into it man!
Love this, best use of these instruments I've seen yet
thank you

dakitanmonkey i thought you have a connection between the A4 output and the octa input and then resampling the sounds?

The A4 ouput goes into the octatrack (for mixing purposes), but for this track i don't resample it.

Is the analog four going through the Octatrack ?
Yes. I use the octatrack also as a mixer.
