I love looking at compressor maps! That's super impressive. Efficiency islands are massive. Also sweet it's USA made. Borg Warner turbos are awesome.

When you comsider running a compressor out to the absolute limits, look at the shaft speed. That is the turbine speed too.

Folks complain of the 96/88 borg turbine creating massive backpressure when the 75 or 80mm compressor cannot supply the engine, leading to the overdriven compressor. Look at the compressor map.

We spent a lot of time making our S4E-91mm compressor wheel "work" just for that reason. It is very happy on an air hungry combo with the 96/88 turbine wheel because we keep the shaft speed in the turbines "sweet spot".

@@workturbo Given Borg Warners 488 maps, they are only ideal for a 400-450hp ish V8 deal. People are harping on the 96/88 turbine being the source of backpressure #s on 475/480 deals, while the compressor has nothing left. It's a death spiral when you command more lb/hr than the compressor can support. The compressor runs off the right side of the map into poor efficiency, then commands more turbine rpm to achieve a goal that cannot be met. Boost pressure drops, while turbine inlet pressure skyrockets. I don't understand the idea of folks smashing the 96/88 turbine backpressure when they are way way out of compressor?

@@workturbo I agree, although the turbines "sweet spot" is 1 to 1 with the compressor rpm. There's no free lunch

@@workturbo Both of us can look at a compressor map and see where the compressor/turbine speed starts to go ballistic vs efficiency/mass flow.

@@workturbo I'm with you on the 91mm s400 compressor. It suits a 450hp V8, and let's the 96/88 turbine work out ok, instead of running compressor/turbine speed ballistic

When the compressor reaches the right side of the map, not able to make more flow, the turbine rpm and backpressure ramp up to force it into the death spiral

Most 400 to 500 flywheel HP ls 4.8 and 5.3 combos are pushing the S 475 and s480 compressors off the usable compressor map at 2.0 pressure ratio. Why arent we starting with an 88mm s400 compressor that can actually feed the demands of the engine on the compressor map?

Very exciting and looks like an excellence option for reliable bang for the buck. Something forever cool about the S475 family. Intrigued about a potential divided T4 (thinking 1.15-1.28ish) to pair with the 96 turbine wheel. T6 is often not in the cards for our 4g63 applications

We have the 1.25 T4 Twin Scroll for this rotor group...we can make .90/1.0/1.10 A/R's as well

@@workturboHi, so .90 in divided T4 is possible for this turbo? What is the MSRP for this turbo and T4 .90 ar? Ty

@@Onlineghost2ohmIt is possible to do it, but I would want to discuss your application in depth to be sure it is a wise choice. Please email support@workturbochargers.com with your setup and we will discuss!

Great, I’m going to need to of them lol one for the truck and one for the car with a T4 lmao :)

You are gonna need more for the Mustang! And I would actually like to try one on your truck and compare it to your existing wheel I designed...might need to do some testing!
