    I'd love to build decks like this, people in my area barely have budget for the cheapest Trex.

    What kind of lumbar is that framing? Kiln dried after treatment? Treated Engineered lumbar? Something else?

    Man, I was you'd show how you cut the radius of the field boards inside the circle. It looks like they're screwed down in place prior to cutting so it can't be a jig saw...maybe a router that's tied to the center of the circle or free hand with a mini circular saw??

    Nice 👍🏻 just a question - why didn't you put any landscape fabric under the deck to stop that grass and weeds from growing back? Put some gravel on that which also helps to absorb moisture.

    Nice videos; I'm a subscriber! I have a few questions for you. What cement blocks do you use that are adjustable? What flashing tape do you use? How did you cut the circles out without cutting into your flashing tape? Why do you choose to use deck boards without grooves that forces you to face screw? I know I'm asking a lot of questions so I hope you can find the time to answer. Thx!

      @@Androz87 Since I sent this message, I have learned a lot. First off, he uses G Tape. Secondly, he sets his saw that it just glances the tape. What I do is rip a thin piece of pvc and slide it under the deck boards to elevate it just a smidge so that I don't cut the tape. Thirdly, not sure why he face screws the entire project. I would face screw the ends of all the boards but use hidden fasteners for the field. The only time I would face screw the entire deck is if I had an EPDM liner underneath and didn't want it to leak.

      Ya that makes sense. I work for a GC, so decks are just a little of what we do. I live in SW Florida and we have issues where after just a couple hours our gaps open/ close 1/8ths of inches depending on the temp swings of the day. Face screwing then plugging ends of boards isn't something we've done but seems like that could help a lot. When I started 5 years ago face screwing was all we did. Last couple years we've been on a hidden fastener kick with face screws only used for our boarder boards. I may have to convince them about face screwing the ends in the field to help with expansion since that seems like it works the best.
      We've been using ziptape for our joist flashing tape but I don't like it since it's got writing all over, and if you look closely through the gaps you can see it lol. (Always bothered me, thats one of the things i was curious about.)
      But ya the types of hidden fasteners can dictate being able to make that clean, straight cut afterwords. We just tried these timber tec ones where once they're in, you can't get them back out afterwords due to having to angle screw them as you go. It makes it impossible to come back afterwords to back the ends off and fit a stuffer underneath for that safe, clean skillsaw cut. Luckily youtube exists. Thank you for getting back to me on an old video comment. Trying to improve my game best I can, always room for growth.

    I use a lot of timbertech but not a lot of azek. O think the price scares people but man I has to deck without shoes and put tape at the end of the quickdrive cause that shit scratches easy!

    • @bradeley6409
      @bradeley6409 2 роки тому

      Try Veka decking. Most scratch-resistant and impact resistant decking I've found. That's comparing it to Timbertech, Azek, Armadillo, Clubhouse, Trex and others.
