I like the build. There are two things I'd done differently. I would've installed a 2nd deck brace at the back near the foundation for a more robust structure and secondly, I would've frame the boards around the footers so that the seams could only be seen from the sides and not when looking out from the house or if I were in the yard looking at the house. Just an aesthetic thing.

Have you tried flaming the end grain with a propane torch. We do it for clear plastics, gets rid of the saw cuts and clears the edges. May work on the Trex.

i wish the camera would stay one person for at least a minute there is SO MUCH hopping around from scene to scene it makes it hard to invest in these videos. stay put for a second so we can see what the person is doing.

Deck contractor in MN here, had a deck where we had to do all 18” diameter footings 60” deep, and weren’t allowed to ledger onto the house, meaning giant footings all along the house as well. Nightmare

For future, ya had joists up there, slide one out under beam, remove hoist and pull in with strap at left end. The guy on the right reminds me of me when my hands slipped off a beam at the edge and over I went, luckily my lower leg fog caught between the first and second joist and stopped my fall. But hanging upside down was no picnic.

Wonderful work. But I can't help but wonder what the landscaping bill is that follows this $40K deck build? There's just no avoiding a trampled yard. Liike when I had my pool installed. Wonderful job guys. Really...thanks so much i appraciate all your efforts. Now I need a new lawn for god knows how much. It just never ends.
