We close on our house October 29th. We pick up our new 5th wheel October 30th. We going to live in it and learn how to use it and hopefully by spring we're boondocking 24/7. I can't wait, next weekend the adventure begins.
We've been doing a lot of dry camping in our state parks this year. We use different power sources so as not to use the camper batteries as much as possible. We use our drill batteries to charge our phones and other small electronics. We use spray bottles to wash and rinse our dishes. It conserves water and the water pump doesn't run as often saving energy. We use battery string lights at night as a night light. We use used batteries so they aren't as bright, so they don't disturb your sleep but can find the head at night. It's little things that extent how long you can stay out.
I enjoy your info in all your vids. My first trip out, new travel trailer new to RV’s and I boondocked first 6 weeks. Great way for me learn. I cheated my water system by using river water to flush my toilet using gallon containers, it helped with saving my fresh water for other uses.
Great advice for those unfamiliar with Boondocking. My solution for additional water is a 65 gallon transfer tank in the back of my truck with an electric pump that also doubles as a spare pump in case the RV pump ever fails.
Thank God I’ve finally found your channel 🙏 I’ve watched many give their top 5 or 10 things about this and that reasons and what not but YOU have give the best information in two videos that will be the most valuable to me. Thanks you
Another great video with great information, I've already had three boondocking locations lined up & all three were full. Since the sun had long set after the third location, plan D was stealth camping at a truck stop. Thank you for sharing your knowledge & experience.
We love your channel, you give the best info, tips, and resources! We start fulltiming in our first RV next week and will be doing a lot of boondocking. Thank you, you have inspired us greatly!! Happy travels to you.
Love the tips! We keep an extra 5 gallon tank just to fill the Berkey. We found we drink a ton of water apparently! Couldn’t agree more with “short miserable showers”. I’ll add “cold” because someone usually forgets to turn the propane water heater on 🤦🏻♀️
These are some fabulous tips on boondocking. You learn something new every day!! :) HAHAHA at your wife when you talked about her long showers. Definitely some useful tips!
Jared, I enjoy all your videos and info. Very informative and pretty easy to understand. So practical. Keep 'em comin' We did do this on our last trip to Arizona, by staying at a Harvest Host not too far from home, so if we had any issues we could return home or fix before too far away. Oh, and are there Long Miserable Showers? maybe if your water heater quits.
Great video. My husband and I have had discussions about boondocking and next year we are going to venture out of our home state of Florida and head west to explore some National Parks. So there may be a few opportunities for us to try boondocking for a couple of days. During your segment about watching the weather you showed some rubber ramps that you put under your tire to get out of the mud. Where did you get those ramps?
We have been RVing for 40+ years, all on shore power. We're thinking about trying some boondocking. I have two 6-volt lead acid golfcart batteries that are in need of replacement. Would you recommend upgrading to one lithium based 12-volt battery like a Battle Born? Thanks for another great video that has moved us to do more exploring!
About the 5 minute mark you said you would put a link in the description about Pumping out the black tank into the back of the truck. Can you post it please?
4:00 Do you have any recommendations on gray water recycling/recirculating. With a family of 8, I'm worried that I could never bring enough water to last more than a day or two boondocking.
I enjoy your videos and straight forward information! My question is: We are currently in a 2015 travel trailer with a "standard" set up (no generator and only a single 12 volt battery). We want to start working towards more boondocking and maybe go full time at some point. We live in the south where it is often hot, so having A/C is a necessity in the summer. So, if we were to go step by step with smaller upgrades and eventually get to a setup with solar, generator, and other resources, what are those steps? For example, do we add a generator and a second battery with monitoring first? When do we look to go with 6 volt or lithium? When do you upgrade the inverter in the process? If you could give some suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.
Hi Jared - a big worry i have is about pulling into a popular boondocking site and not knowing where I can and should set-up. Is there an etiquette when it comes to "sites" and spacing? do you check with neighbors first?
Great job Jared, really enjoy your videos. I want to buy a couple of those water bags. They look real handy to have. I trust they’re fairly durable cause I know water is heavy?! Can I get those through your Amazon affiliate? Thanks...Your fans Robert/Donna in Southern California.
Thanks! Yes you should be able to find out he different sizes here. amzn.to/34pV8eZ I have been impressed with the durability of them. They have been getting good use.
Check out the "hour shower" on 'gone boondocking' youtube channel. Your wife will thank you. Less than 2 gallons of water and an almost unlimited HOT shower time. I installed my own version this spring and it's a game changer for sure. He started making them for others and is now selling them for the price of the parts, shipping and a little extra for his time. Or you can build one on your own to customize it to your specific needs.
There is an App called, oddly enough, Boondocking. It covers Ontario and most of Canada that can be accessed by roads. Canada seems to be very open to public use of public space.

Those are some great tips. We are new to boondocking. Water has big our biggest hurdle. With a family of 5 we really have to conserve!

Great info! Keep in mind water weighs 8.33 lbs/gallon. Those collapsible bags are great empty!

Thank you for the clear and concise information
Great advice! Enjoyed the photo bomb of your kitty! Miss seeing you on Campendium!
Great info on our way to Quartzsite for the winter to boondock.
Thanks Jared! We will soon be out there!!

Dude, your channel is great and has been a huge help.
Didn’t know you had a kitty, we travel with two. They don’t like the traveling part, but dig the places we go.
Ours travels well as long as the boys are in the back seat with her.

If you can't afford Lithium Ion, go with AGM batteries
Have you researched Graphine batteries for boondocking? My brother thinks they would be great.
always good tips

I’ve only boondocked The best way to help with water is to limit how much you use.
the best thing about boon docking, is the LACK of people....nothing beats it.
Go on a through hike on the Appalachian Trail, you'll appreciate your RV more and realize how little power you actually need.
I agree. I love backpacking. My first tutorial videos many years ago was in backpacking gear you can make or alter.
Is it safe to drive around with water in the fresh tank?
Yes. Sometimes we fill it at home versus when we arrive at the campground.
So wait a minute? Does or doesn't like short miserable showers? She is so funny 🤣

Best thing I've learned is doing Bucket Drops! Lol!
Haha. Did you have a good time at South Jetty?
Perfect timing. We're just a little TERRIFIED.
You guys are my favorite social media influencer. How can I donate?
How can I find good boondocking in Ontario?
There is an App called, oddly enough, Boondocking. It covers Ontario and most of Canada that can be accessed by roads. Canada seems to be very open to public use of public space.
Why are all these videos about buying stuff and affiliate links?
Satellite views old, things could have changed since photo was taken.....
